Inspired by the positive impact of service outsourcing in Chery and other enterprises on human resources, this paper explores the impact of service outsourcing on labor income share. This paper introduces a framework to analyze how value added is distributed between capital and labor along the mix of inputs from different countries and sectors participating in global value chains and examines the effect of service outsourcing on the labor share income. Using the World Input-Output Database (WIOD) and OECD Inter-Country Input-Output (OECD- ICIO) table, this paper utilizes the WWZ decomposition method of global value chains (GVCs) to quantify labor share income.

School of Business, Nanjing Normal University, Xianlin University City, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China.

This paper presents an examination of the relationship between international operations and corporate R&D investment. Using a large sample of Chinese listed firms for the 2009-2022 period and the ordinary least squares method, we find that international operations have a positive effect on corporate R&D investment. The finding remains valid after a battery of robustness tests.

The regulation of emotions is a crucial facet of well-being and social adaptability, with explicit strategies receiving primary attention in prior research. Recent studies, however, emphasize the role of implicit emotion regulation, particularly implicating the ventromedial prefrontal cortex (VMPFC) in association with its implementation. This study delves into the nuanced role of the VMPFC through focality-optimized multichannel transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), shedding light on its causal involvement in implicit reappraisal.

The current high-dimensional linear factor models fail to account for the different types of variables, while high-dimensional nonlinear factor models often overlook the overdispersion present in mixed-type data. However, overdispersion is prevalent in practical applications, particularly in fields like biomedical and genomics studies. To address this practical demand, we propose an overdispersed generalized factor model (OverGFM) for performing high-dimensional nonlinear factor analysis on overdispersed mixed-type data.

Statistical analysis of multimodal imaging data is a challenging task, since the data involves high-dimensionality, strong spatial correlations and complex data structures. In this paper, we propose rigorous statistical testing procedures for making inferences on the complex dependence of multimodal imaging data. Motivated by the analysis of multitask fMRI data in the Human Connectome Project (HCP) study, we particularly address three hypothesis testing problems: (a) testing independence among imaging modalities over brain regions, (b) testing independence between brain regions within imaging modalities, and (c) testing independence between brain regions across different modalities.

Exploring the coupling coordination degree (CCD) between digital village construction (DVC) and agricultural carbon emissions (ACE) is crucial for promoting village revitalization and sustainable agricultural development. Analyzing data from 30 provinces in China in 2011-2020, this paper employs the CCD model, the Dagum Gini coefficient, and the geographic detector for in-depth analysis. The results show that the overall level of CCD gradually increases over time, but the national CCD still remains in a state of "low coordination," and there are apparent spatial differences in the CCD among provinces.

Introduction: The use rate of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) among adolescents is continuously rising globally, posing new challenges to public health and negatively impacting adolescent health. This study employs bibliometric methods to systematically present the current state and evolving trends in global research on adolescent e-cigarette use.

Methods: This study uses CiteSpace to conduct a bibliometric analysis of articles related to adolescent e-cigarette use from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database.

Although extensive studies focused on the driver of changing CO emission, the roles of labor and capital were largely ignored in shaping spatiotemporal change in CO emission and forecasting differences on CO emission was few considered, hindering relevant policymaking towards sustainable development in both climate change mitigation and economic growth for developing countries in particular. To fill the gap above, the study explored the roles of capital and labor in contributing to recent CO emission in a case of China over 2010-2019 and projecting provincial CO emissions to 2030, by proposing two new spatiotemporal logarithmic mean Divisia index models with Cobb-Douglas production function and developing an ensemble forecasting model including machine learning. We found, first, the effects of capital and labor inputs and carbon factor were the positive drivers affecting aggregate CO emissions, while the effects of the total-factor productivity and energy intensity were negative drivers.

Since 2016, China has progressively relaxed family planning policies to stimulate birth rates. This paper examines the behavioral health repercussions of China's 2016 universal two-child policy (UTCP) by analyzing sleep pattern data from China Family Panel Studies. Napping is a composite indicator that denotes health outcomes, job quality, and personal well-being.

This study investigates the impact of a minority language on international trade. Using the distance to Hunchun as an instrumental variable, and transaction-level customs data from 2000 to 2015, we investigate the causal impact of common Korean language on international trade between Chinese counties and South/North Korea. The results suggest that a 1% increase in the proportion of population speaking Korean will increase value share and transactions share in trade by 1.

Few scholars study light efficiency of solar-cell arrays in theory, while it is difficult to experimentally determine the maximum capacity of a photovoltaic panel to collect solar radiation. This paper proposes a solar energy comparison model (SECM), considering the sunshine duration changes every day to optimize the solar radiation collection model in an ideal state for a whole year, which is easy to use, and can quickly obtain the optimal tilt angle of photovoltaic panels and the solar radiation collecting efficiency enhancement of intelligent light tracking photovoltaic panels. The results show that the sunshine duration is an important factor affecting the solar radiation received by photovoltaic panels.

Currently, China is at a critical stage of accelerating the green transformation of its economic development model, with considerable attention being paid to achieving this transformation while maintaining moderate economic growth. This study uses 271 prefecture-level cities in China from 2006 to 2020 to examine the impact of local government economic growth target constraints on the level of green economic development and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms. The results show that economic growth targets significantly inhibit the level of urban green development, with this effect being more pronounced in the economically developed eastern regions of China.

Greenium of green securitization: Does external certification matter?

PLoS One

August 2024

School of Finance and Institute of Chinese Financial Studies, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Chengdu, China.

Article Synopsis
  • - The financing costs of green asset-backed securities (ABS) are influenced by information asymmetry and the risk of greenwashing, leading issuers to seek external certifications to attract investors.
  • - A study of 588 green ABS issued in China from 2016-2022 shows that external certifications, including green certifications and the reputation of financial intermediaries, reduce the yield discount, known as "greenium," compared to non-green ABS.
  • - The findings suggest that while external certifications help mitigate concerns over greenwashing, the effectiveness is impacted by factors like the industry and market type, which highlights the need for improved financing efficiency in green financial markets.

Fluctuations in the financial market are influenced by various driving forces and numerous factors. Traditional financial research aims to identify the factors influencing stock prices, and existing works construct a common neural network learning framework that learns temporal dependency using a fixed time window of historical information, such as RNN and LSTM models. However, these models only consider the short-term and point-to-point relationships within stock series.

The restricted mean survival time (RMST) is often of direct interest in clinical studies involving censored survival outcomes. It describes the area under the survival curve from time zero to a specified time point. When data are subject to length-biased sampling, as is frequently encountered in observational cohort studies, existing methods cannot estimate the RMST for various restriction times through a single model.
