The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant negative effect on university students' mental health worldwide. The pandemic has resulted in individuals experiencing increased levels of anxiety and stress as well as intensified concerns about the future due to a rise in uncertainty. To eliminate the anxiety and stress caused by uncertainty, individuals who have high cognitive closure needs are strongly motivated to achieve certainty and seek answers, even if the decisions they make in the process are inappropriate or even irrational.

To address the imbalanced development in China, this study focuses on housing prices in China's large urban areas, referred to as "agglomerations" which is distinct from the label of "tier 1" versus "tier 2" (and three and four) that is used to categorize cities in China which have been the focus of previous research. It primarily uses a dummy variable approach to analyze whether, in China, housing prices in cities within a core urban agglomeration increase faster than those in a non-core urban agglomeration. This study also makes technical contributions in using altitude and other appropriate instrumental variables to address endogeneity issues, which is useful in studying Chinese cities.

Among the 372 eligible papers, 72 focused on COVID-19 transmission dynamics, 204 evaluated both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions, 29 focused on the prediction of the pandemic and 67 investigated the impacts of COVID-19. ABM was used in 275 papers, followed by 54 SDM papers, 32 DES papers and 11 hybrid model papers.

In recent years, China's "lottery culture" has developed vigorously. Moreover, the investment participation rate of Chinese families in the formal financial market is low, whereas that in the informal financial market is high. Is there a certain relationship between "lottery culture" and family financial decision-making? If so, what is the underlying mechanism? Based on the 2017 CHFS data and lottery sales data of provinces, this study explores the impact of "lottery culture" on household participation in the formal and informal financial markets and the diversity of household financial portfolios.

With rising consumption and environmental problems, there is an increasing need for green consumption. From a micro perspective, the influence of environmental cognition on consumers' green consumption behaviors and the related mechanisms are examined through multilayer linear analysis and 2010 China General Social Survey (CGSS) microdata with the theory of planned behavior (TPB) as the model framework. The study shows that (1) environmental cognition positively influences attitudes toward green consumption, green consumption subjective norms, and green consumption perceived behavioral control, which leads to increased intentions to engage in green consumption and actual green consumption behaviors.

With ongoing economic and social development, natural habitats are becoming increasingly fragmented, blocking habitat connections and reducing landscape connectivity. The study of changes in ecological connectivity can provide valuable information for habitat and landscape restoration, which are necessary for sustainable regional development. Despite the growing interest in this issue, studies that reveal the change in ecological connectivity in the compounded areas of ecological vulnerability and deep poverty are still lacking.

Objective: Although artificial intelligence (AI) has achieved high levels of accuracy in the diagnosis of various diseases, its impact on physicians' decision-making performance in clinical practice is uncertain. This study aims to assess the impact of AI on the diagnostic performance of physicians with differing levels of self-efficacy under working conditions involving different time pressures.
Materials And Methods: A 2 (independent diagnosis vs AI-assisted diagnosis) × 2 (no time pressure vs 2-minute time limit) randomized controlled experiment of multicenter physicians was conducted.

Studies show that research and development (R&D) may not always benefit entrepreneurial firms. This paper focuses on the double-edged effect of R&D activities on attracting institutional investment in entrepreneurial firms. Based on a panel dataset of 700 listed entrepreneurial firms in ChiNext, we document: (1) an inverted-U relationship between R&D intensity and future institutional investment, which we argue is evidence that institutional investors are concerned about R&D overinvestment; (2) an inverted-U relationship between R&D capitalization and future institutional investment, which we argue shows suspicion of the institutional investors towards high R&D capitalization.

It's the direction of all humankind's joint efforts to develop clean cooking fuels and reduce carbon emissions vigorously. While most studies found that householder and family characteristics influence household cooking fuel choice, few studies focus on the relationship between labor transfer and the choice of clean cooking fuels. Based on the three-phase survey data of the China Labor-Force Dynamic Survey in 2012, 2014, and 2016, this paper analyzes the influence of labor transfer on rural households' cooking fuel choice.

Behavioral strengths and difficulties among children and adolescents may be significantly associated with their academic performance; however, the evidence on this issue for rural youth in developing contexts is limited. This study explored the prevalence and correlates of mental health from three specific dimensions-internalizing problems, externalizing problems, and prosocial behavior-measured by the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), and the association of these dimensions with academic performance in math among a sample of 1500 students in rural China. Our findings indicated that students in rural China had worse behavioral difficulties and poorer prosocial skills when compared to most past studies conducted inside and outside of China.

Extractive document summarization is a fundamental task in natural language processing (NLP). Recently, several Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) are proposed for this task. However, most existing GNN-based models can neither effectively encode semantic nodes of multiple granularity level apart from sentences nor substantially capture different cross-sentence meta-paths.

Service failure is almost inevitable with the intensifying competition in the service market and expectation of heterogeneous customers. The customer-firm relationship can significantly influence customers' subsequent attitudes and behaviors to the service provider when they encounter service failure. This study proposes a theoretical model to examine how customer-perceived dependence affects their forgiveness toward a service failure in attribution logic.
