Limited meta-analytical research has examined the epidemiology of child sexual abuse (CSA) victimization among Chinese children and adolescents over the past two decades. It is crucial to evaluate how the incidence of CSA has changed over time in response to the significant policy and sociocultural changes since 2013. This study employed a cross-temporal meta-analysis to explore the trend of CSA victimization among Chinese children and adolescents from 2000 to 2022.

Chongqing Key Laboratory of Micro & Nano Structure Optoelectronics, School of Physical Science and Technology, Southwest University Chongqing 400715 China

Heterostructures can efficiently modulate the bandgap of semiconductors and enhance the separation of photocarriers, thereby enhancing the performance of optoelectronic devices. Herein, we design an InS/ZnInS van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure and investigate its electronic and photovoltaic properties using first principles calculation. Compared to its individual monolayers, the InS/ZnInS heterostructure not only possesses a smaller band gap of 2.

Introduction: This study aims to elucidate the temporal and spatial distribution patterns of sports tourism resources within the Sichuan-Chongqing Urban Agglomeration, examining how these distributions reflect the developmental pathways of urban regions. The theoretical framework posits that the availability and allocation of sports tourism resources are influenced by various geographical and socio-economic factors, with topography, economic conditions, and population density playing pivotal roles in determining their distribution and development.

Methods: Utilizing GeoDetector technology alongside indices such as the Geographic Concentration Index and the Disparities Index, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the spatiotemporal dynamics of sports tourism resources, revealing that the distribution of these resources serves as a key indicator of urban development speed.

Sulfate-driven anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) and anaerobic digestion (AD) with municipal wastewater sludge containing heavy metals may provide favorable conditions for the biogeochemical transformation of mercury (Hg) by methanogens and methanotrophs. However, it remains largely unclear what Hg-methylators functioned and what role Methanosarcina played in these processes. Here, we performed sulfate-driven AOM following AD with Hg-containing wastewater sludge and investigated the role of microbes, especially Methanosarcina, in the biogeochemical transformation of Hg based on 16S rRNA amplicon and metatranscriptomic sequencing.

Currently, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with tunability and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with high stability are promising nanomaterials for electrochemiluminescence (ECL), while Ru-based metal covalent organic frameworks (Ru-MCOFs) have rarely been reported. Herein, an ECL immunosensor based on a strong ECL-emitting Ru-MCOF was proposed for the sensitive detection of the cardiac troponin-I (cTnI). Imine-linked Ru-MCOF was prepared as an ECL emitter via solvothermal method using tris(4,4' -diamino-2,2' -bipyridine)ruthenium(II) (Ru(dbpy)32+) as a precursor.

Pressure Swing Distillation (PSD) is the only advanced technology that does not require the addition of third components to the system to enhance the separation of azeotropic mixtures. It outperforms homogeneous distillation for separating pressure-sensitive azeotropic mixtures. In this study, we aimed to separate methanol and toluene using the Non-Random Two-Liquid (NRTL) and Aspen Plus thermodynamic calculation models to simulate a binary homogeneous azeotropic system.

ZAG promotes colorectal cancer cell proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition by promoting lipid synthesis.

Open Life Sci

December 2024

Department of Gastroenterology, The Ninth People's Hospital of Chongqing, No. 69, Jialing Village, Beibei District, Chognqing, 400700, China.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common malignant tumor characterized by a high degree of invasiveness, and since zinc-α2 glycoprotein (ZAG) has been implicated in the progression of several malignancies, this study was designed to investigate the role of ZAG in CRC. Its expression was assessed using the GEPIA database, and short hairpin RNA (shRNA) interference was conducted to create ZAG knockdown in CRC cell lines. We also conducted lipid synthesis, cell proliferation, apoptosis, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) experiments to elucidate the effects of ZAG expression on CRC, as well as explored the potential underlying mechanistic pathways.

Two secretory T2 RNases from a fungal pathogen target distinct insect cell transmembrane proteins to cause cytotoxicity.

Insect Sci

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Agricultural Biosafety and Green Production of Upper Yangtze River (Ministry of Education), College of Plant Protection, Southwest University, Chongqing, China.

Fungal pathogens produce secretory ribonuclease (RNase) T2 proteins during infection, which contribute to fungal virulence via their enzyme functions in degradation of host cell RNA. However, the details of those proteins entering the host cells are unclear. Our previous study demonstrated that the two secretory RNase T2 members, BbRNT2 and BbTrv, produced by the insect fungal pathogen Beauveria bassiana, caused cytotoxic damage to insect cells and contributed to fungal virulence.

The quadratic cost functions, exemplified by mean-square-error, often exhibit limited robustness and flexibility when confronted with impulsive noise contamination. In contrast, the generalized maximum correntropy (GMC) criterion, serving as a robust nonlinear similarity measure, offers superior performance in such scenarios. In this paper, we develop a recursive constrained adaptive filtering algorithm named recursive generalized maximum correntropy with a forgetting factor (FF-RCGMC).

December 2024

Chongqing Key Laboratory of Speciality Food Co-Built by Sichuan and Chongqing, College of Food Science, Southwest University, Chongqing 400715, China. Electronic address:

The synergistic interaction gels of locust bean gum (LBG) /xanthan show great potential for application in the food industry, such as 3D printing and taste/texture simulation. Including 1, 2-propanediol (PDO) significantly promoted the gel-related properties of LBG/xanthan gels. The synergistic interaction between LBG and xanthan was enhanced with the presence of small amounts of PDO (≤ 20 %) due to the dehydration effect of PDO and the resulting promotion of the molecular association.

Intrinsic Chirality Modulation and Biosensing Application of Helical Gold Nanorods by Anisotropic Etching.

Anal Chem

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Biomedical Analytics (Southwest University), Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southwest University, Chongqing 400715, P. R. China.

The investigation of plasmonic chirality is a profound and intriguing topic, and the distinctive morphology of intrinsically chiral nanoparticles has prompted significant interest in the structure-activity relationship between particle morphology and chirality. In this work, the anisotropic etching of chiral helical gold nanorods (HGNRs) by a cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)-HAuCl complex was observed with an interesting bidirectional variation of intrinsic chirality that initially enhanced and subsequently weakened, which was related with the diversity in CTAB distribution. In addition, an ultrasensitive and convenient sensing platform for acetylcholinesterase was developed based on the circular dichroism signal recovery of HGNRs caused by the dual inhibition of HGNR etching.
