The present study aimed to investigate the effect of Xianglian Pills(XLP) on lipid metabolism in obese mice and explore the underlying mechanism based on network pharmacology and intestinal flora. Firstly, network pharmacology was used to predict the possible effect of XLP on obesity. Secondly, an obese mouse model induced by a high-fat diet was established to observe changes in mouse body weight, adiposity index, liver and adipose tissue pathology.

College of Sericulture, Textile and Biomass Sciences, State Key Laboratory of Silkworm Genome Biology, Southwest University Chongqing 400716, China Medical Research Institute, Southwest University Chongqing 400716, China.

Glioblastoma is the most common primary cranial malignancy, and chemotherapy remains an important tool for its treatment. Sanggenon C(San C), a class of natural flavonoids extracted from Morus plants, is a potential antitumor herbal monomer. In this study, the effect of San C on the growth and proliferation of glioblastoma cells was examined by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT) assay and 5-bromodeoxyuridinc(BrdU) labeling assay.

April 2022

Engineering Research Center of Coptis Development and Utilization (Ministry of Education), College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southwest University Chongqing 400716, China.

Two new polyketides, lasobutone A(1) and lasobutone B(2), along with three known compounds, guignardianone C(3), guignardic acid(4), and 4-hydroxy-17R-methylincisterol(5), were isolated from the endophytic fungi Xylaria sp. by silica gel, MCI, and preparative HPLC, which was separated from the Chinese medicinal material Coptis chinensis and cultivated through solid fermentation with rice. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods, such as MS, NMR, IR, UV, and ECD.

Glioblastoma is the most common intracranial primary malignant tumor, which leads to the poor quality of life of patients and has a high recurrence rate. Chemotherapy is a vital part in the treatment of this disease. Tetrandrine(Tet) is an active ingredient extracted from the root of the Chinese medicinal plant Stephania tetrandra, which has been proved with a wide range of pharmacological effects including anti-tumor.

Article Synopsis
  • NSSPE (Nanocrystals self-stabilized Pickering emulsion) uses poorly soluble drug nanocrystals as stabilizers and has been shown to enhance the oral absorption of puerarin when combined with Ligusticum chuanxiong oil.
  • * The study investigated how NSSPE improves puerarin's absorption through in vitro dissolution tests and its interaction with Caco-2 cells, revealing that NSSPE significantly boosts drug uptake compared to traditional emulsions.
  • * Results indicate that both passive/active transport and lipid raft/caveolin-mediated endocytosis are involved in the absorption process, with the unique structure of NSSPE enhancing overall drug solubility and transport across cell membranes.

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes for cancer-related death among women worldwide. Coptidis Rhizoma has antibacterial,anti-inflammatory,anti-tumor and other pharmacological activities, but whether exercise could synergistically promote the role of RC in the treatment of breast cancer has not been reported. In this experiment, the effects and mechanism of total alkaloids of Coptidis Rhizoma combined with exercise on the tumor growth of orthotopically transplanted 4 T1 breast cancer were systemically studied in mice.

Carbon dots produced hydrothermally from algae were used directly for HO sensing. The mineral nutrients in biomass were found be important for the composition, crystallinity, dispersion and photoluminescence (PL) quenching of the carbon dots under reactive oxygen species, which catalysed the oxidation of passivating ligands.

The domestic sheep (Ovis aries) has been an economically and culturally important farm animal species since its domestication around the world. A wide array of sheep breeds with abundant phenotypic diversity exists including domestication and selection as well as the indigenous breeds may harbor specific features as a result of adaptation to their environment. The objective of this study was to investigate the population structure of indigenous sheep in a large geographic location of the Chinese mainland.
