Herein, a series of indacenodithiophene-based derivatives (TNPD1-TNPD6) were designed having D-π-A architecture end capped acceptor modulation of a reference molecule (TNPR) to investigate nonlinear optical (NLO) behavior. Quantum chemical calculations were accomplished to examine electronic, structural and optical properties utilizing a density functional theory (DFT) approach at M06 functional with 6-311G(d,p) basis set. For this, natural bond orbitals (NBOs), density of states (DOS), frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs), transition density matrix (TDM) and non-linear optical (NLO) analyses were performed for TNPR and TNPD1-TNPD6.

Objective: Histone deacetylases (HDACs) not only regulate histone acetylation but also participate in many pathophysiologic processes, especially the development of cancer, including breast cancer. However, whether Histone deacetylase 11 can influence breast cancer is still unknown. This study investigated the relationship between HDAC11 expression in breast cancers and clinicopathologic parameters, and used small interference RNA (siRNA) to determine the biological behavioural changes after knockdown of HDAC11.

Nanozymes are a class of nanomaterials that can specifically mimic the structures and catalytic activities as well as overcome limitations of natural enzymes and have hence been considered as a competitive alternative to natural enzymes. At present, plenty of nanozymes, especially those with peroxidase (POD)-like catalytic activity, have been extensively explored for biosensing. In this work, we proposed polyoxometalate-based heterojunction GdPWO@WS nanoclusters (NCs) to exert intrinsic POD-like catalytic activity even under harsh catalytic conditions.

Four benzoindolenine-based squaraine dyes (SQs), which have the advantages of intense visible and near-infrared (NIR) absorption and emission ( 663-695 nm, 686-730 nm) were synthesized and characterized by UV-vis absorption, fluorescent emission spectrophotometry, FTIR, NMR and HRMS analysis. Among them, BBSQ showed excellent performance, which exhibited high selectivity to Fe, Cu, and Hg in acetonitrile solution even in the presence of other competitive metal ions, accompanied by obvious color change easily detected by the naked eye. The detection limit was 14.

N-methyladenosine (4mC) methylation is an essential epigenetic modification of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) that plays a key role in many biological processes such as gene expression, gene replication and transcriptional regulation. Genome-wide identification and analysis of the 4mC sites can better reveal the epigenetic mechanisms that regulate various biological processes. Although some high-throughput genomic experimental methods can effectively facilitate the identification in a genome-wide scale, they are still too expensive and laborious for routine use.

The study investigated the inhibitory effect and mechanism of tectorigenin derivative(SGY) against herpes simplex virus type Ⅰ(HSV-1) by in vitro experiments. The cytotoxicity of SGY and positive drug acyclovir(ACV) on African green monkey kidney(Vero) cells and mouse microglia(BV-2) cells was detected by cell counting kit-8(CCK-8) method, and the maximum non-toxic concentration and median toxic concentration(TC_(50)) of the drugs were calculated. After Vero cells were infected with HSV-1, the virulence was determined by cytopathologic effects(CPE) to calculate viral titers.
