Clinical features, hemodynamics and quality of life of elderly patients with a combination of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and arterial hypertension were assessed. The results of the study suggest that in the case of a combination of arterial hypertension and chronic lung disease, not only distinct clinical, functional and hemodynamic changes are observed, but also a significant decrease in the quality of life, largely determined by the severity of the symptoms of both diseases, as well as the severity of the comorbid pathology. The revealed changes in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and arterial hypertension dictate the need to optimize, first of all, the outpatient stage of observation and rehabilitation of elderly patients with comorbid pathology.

The ventrolateral preoptic area (VLPO) contains GABAergic sleep-active neurons. However, the extent to which these neurons are involved in expressing spontaneous sleep and homeostatic sleep regulatory demands is not fully understood. We used calcium (Ca) imaging to characterize the activity dynamics of VLPO neurons, especially those expressing the vesicular GABA transporter (VGAT) across spontaneous sleep-waking and in response to homeostatic sleep demands.

Natural SiO nanoparticles (SiO-NPs) are widely distributed in the environment, and at the same time, synthetic SiO-NP may be applied in agriculture. Evaluations of physiological responses to SiO-NPs treatment of plants are controversial. They are often performed at adaxial leaf sides whereas NPs permeate leaf tissues through stomata located at the abaxial leaf side in the majority of bifacial plants.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in the maintenance of metabolic homeostasis. Recently, many studies have suggested that lncRNAs, such as Metastasis Associated Lung Adenocarcinoma Transcript 1 (MALAT1) and Imprinted Maternally Expressed Transcript (H19), might participate in the pathogenesis of metabolic disorders such as obesity. We conducted a case-control study with 150 Russian children and adolescents aged between 5 and 17 years old in order to assess the statistical association between the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs3200401 in and rs217727 in , and the risk of developing obesity in this population.

Application of machine learning (ML) algorithms to spectroscopic data has a great potential for obtaining hidden correlations between structural information and spectral features. Here, we apply ML algorithms to theoretically simulated infrared (IR) spectra to establish the structure-spectrum correlations in zeolites. Two hundred thirty different types of zeolite frameworks were considered in the study whose theoretical IR spectra were used as the training ML set.

Visible-light-mediated photochromic compounds with NIR absorption and fluorescence are of great interest for use in different biomedical applications. In this work, new representatives of spiropyrans with conjugated cationic 3H-indolium substituents in different positions of 2H-chromene moiety were synthesized. The electron-donating methoxy groups were introduced in the uncharged indoline and charged indolium cycles to form the effective conjugation chain between the hetarene moiety and the cationic fragment for reaching NIR absorption and fluorescence.

Targeting L858R/T790M and L858R/T790M/C797S mutant EGFR is a critical challenge in developing EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors to overcome drug resistance in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The discovery of next-generation EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) is therefore necessary. To this end, a series of furopyridine derivatives were evaluated for their EGFR-based inhibition and antiproliferative activities using computational and biological approaches.

Phase change metasurfaces based on VO, which are pre-heated with electric current and optically addressed by projected structured light hologram, are considered to become a new paradigm in programmed THz/middle IR flat optics. Macroscopic quasi-homogeneous arrays of Au nanoparticles show large near IR absorption and a significant photothermal effect capable of boosting a light-triggered switching of VO and are to be carefully examined. We propose a new approach to simultaneously probe the altered temperature and electric conductivity of a hybrid Au particle-VO film composite by monitoring a phase shift and attenuating a surface acoustic wave in a YX128° cut LiNbO substrate.

In this article, we attempted to integrate and further develop theoretical ideas in the area of the small group research about all group activity levels (types of actors) - individual, informal subgroup, and group - and about connections among them. We have touched upon such issues as (a) modes of group activity represented by activities of each type of the actors; (b) structural and functional associations among the actors; (c) functions that each type of actors carries out with respect to another type of actors; (d) direct and indirect links among actors; (e) the influence of links between some actors on links among other actors; and (f) processes of integration and disintegration as the main mechanism for changing connections among actors. Special attention is paid to direct (immediate) personalized and depersonalized connections among actors, as well as to connections mediated by actors' connections with another actor or some object.
