In recent years, the study of organic-inorganic halide perovskite as an optoelectronics material has been a significant line of research, and the power conversion efficiency of solar cells based on these materials has reached 25.5%. However, defects on the surface of the film are still a problem to be solved, and oxygen plasma is one of the ways to passivate surface defects.

We aim to delineate the clinical features and required aids of severe trauma patients and identify the differences between those who were admitted directly to a trauma center and those transferred from other hospitals.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all hospitalized trauma patients discharged from the ward in Chi-Mei Medical Center from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018.

Heliothis zea nudivirus-1 (HzNV-1) is an insect virus that can induce both lytic and latent infections in various insect cell lines. During latent infection, several microRNAs (miRNAs) are produced from persistency-associated gene 1 (pag1) as the only detectable HzNV-1 transcript. Previous studies have shown that the pag1 gene suppresses the immediate-early gene hhi1 and promotes host switching into a latent infection via miRNAs derived from pag1.

This work aims to investigate the influence of intrinsic and extrinsic factors on the physical resolution of the transmission electron backscattered diffraction technique (t-EBSD) in aluminum and silver. Here, we focus on the intrinsic factors, namely, atomic number and thickness of the specimen, and extrinsic set-up factors, which include the electron beam voltage, working distance, and specimen tilt. The working distance and tilt angle, which are selected as 12 mm and 60° for Al and 12 mm and 50° for Ag, respectively, reveal a sharp pattern with high contrast.

Background: Cardiovascular disease is the major cause of death in patients with end-staged kidney disease (ESRD). Most ESRD patients have systemic inflammation, and increasing the risk of cardiovascular event. Endotoxin derived from lipopolysaccharide of Gram negative bacteria accounts for 70% of intestinal bacteria, leading to release of proinflammatory cytokines and negative cardiovascular effect.

Livedoid vasculopathy (atrophie blanche) is a form of thrombotic vasculopathy. It is characterized by small ulcers that become crusted, and heal after several months to produce white atrophic scars. The most commonly affected sites are the lower legs, in particular the dorsum of the feet and ankles.

A quantitative approach was proposed to determine the spatial resolution of transmission electron backscatter diffraction (t-EBSD) and to understand the limits of spatial resolution of t-EBSD. In this approach, Cu bicrystals and digital image correlation were employed. The effects of accelerating voltage and specimen thickness on the spatial resolution of t-EBSD were also investigated.

Anomalous origin of the right coronary artery (ARCA) from the left Valsalva sinus is a rare but known cause of sudden cardiac death. Surgical revascularization techniques include coronary artery bypass grafting, unroofing, and reimplantation. We report 4 patients who underwent robot-assisted totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass (TECAB) for ARCA as an alternative surgical option.

Objectives: This study aims to test the hypothesis that gallstone disease (GSD) is a risk factor for the development of idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL). Research has shown risks of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in patients with GSD; however, well-conducted English studies on the association between GSD and the development of ISSNHL are lacking.
Design And Setting: Retrospective cohort study using the Taiwan Longitudinal Health Insurance Database.

Cell cycle deregulation is common in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). To ensure proper cell cycle controlling, cyclin/cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK) complexes are tightly regulated by CDK inhibitors (CKIs) in normal cells. However, insufficient cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1B (CDKN1B, also known as p27) and CDKN1C (p57) proteins are characteristics of high-risk HCC.

Phytochemical investigation of the roots and stems of Illigera luzonensis afforded two new aporphine alkaloids (1) and (2), one new bisdehydroaporphine alkaloid (3), and one new benzenoid (4), along with 28 known structures. The structures of new compounds were elucidated by spectral and MS analysis. Among the isolated compounds, (1) and (4-13) were subjected into the examination for their inhibitory effects on the aggregation of washed rabbit platelets.

Background: Apoptosis is implicated in vasospasm and the long-term sequelae of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). This study tested the hypothesis that attenuation of SAH-induced apoptosis after 17β-estradiol (E2) treatment is associated with an increase in phosphorylation of Akt via estrogen receptor-α (ER-α) in rats.
Materials And Methods: We examined the expression of phospho-Akt, ERα and ERβ, and apoptosis in cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and dentate gyrus in a two-hemorrhage SAH model in rats.

The complete genome of the Maruca vitrata nucleopolyhedrovirus (MaviNPV) isolated from the legume pod borer, Maruca vitrata (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), was sequenced. It was found to be 111 953 bp in length, with an overall 39 % G+C content, and contained 126 open reading frames (ORFs) encoding predicted proteins of over 50 aa. The gene content and gene order of MaviNPV have the highest similarity to those of Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) and their shared homologous genes are 100 % collinear.

The purpose of the current study was to explore the effects of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)-receptor antagonists (MK-801 and LY235959) administered intracerebroventricularly on the changes of both core temperature and hypothalamic levels of 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid (2,3-DHBA) induced by intracerebroventricular injection of glutamate (100 - 400 microg at 10 microl/rabbit) or intravenous administration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) (2 microg/kg) in rabbits. The measurements of 2,3-DHBA were used as an index of the intrahypothalamic levels of hydroxyl radicals. The rise in both the core temperature and hypothalamic 2,3-DHBA could be induced by intracerebroventricular injection of glutamate or intravenous administration of LPS.

This work examines numerous significant process parameters in the solvent-assistant Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) bonding scheme and presents two Micro-total-analysis System (micro-TAS) devices generated by adopting the optimal bonding parameters. The process parameters considered were heating temperature, applied loading, duration and solution. The effects of selected process parameters on bonding dimensions loss and strength, and subsequent optimal setting of the parameters were accomplished using Taguchi's scheme.

Our profiling experiment demonstrated that prohibitin 1 (PHB) was ubiquitously expressed in uroepithelial and urothelial carcinoma cell lines and exhibited a trend toward a positive relationship with tumor progression. The aim of this study was, therefore, to examine the potential role of PHB in multistage bladder carcinogenesis and predicting patient outcome. Immunohistochemical staining showed that PHB was overexpressed in 141 out of 167 cases (84.

The present study was performed to assess the prophylactic effect of baicalin, a flavonoid compound, in an animal model of heatstroke. Anesthetized rats, immediately before the start of heat stress, were divided into two major groups and given the following: vehicle solution (1mL per kg body weight) or baicalin (10-40mg per kg body weight) intravenously. They were exposed to ambient temperature of 43 degrees C to induce heatstroke.
