Background: Previous epidemiological investigations and related research efforts consistently have outlined an observable association between anxiety disorders and adhesive capsulitis (AC). However, the intricate nature of the causal connection between these entities has yet to be fully clarified. Therefore, this investigative study aims to thoroughly examine and delineate the causal interrelationship between anxiety disorders and AC using a bidirectional, two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) approach.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is notorious for its resistance against chemotherapy and immunotherapy due to its dense desmoplastic and immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). Traditional photodynamic therapy (PDT) was also less effective for PDAC owing to poor selectivity, insufficient penetration, and accumulation of photosensitizers in tumor sites. Here, we designed a light-responsive novel nanoplatform targeting the TME of PDAC through tumor-specific midkine nanobodies (Nbs), which could efficiently deliver semiconducting polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) to the TME of PDAC and locally produce abundant reactive oxygen species (ROS) for precise photoimmunotherapy.

The Toll pathway is crucial for innate immune responses in organisms (including Drosophila and mammals). The Spätzle protein outside of cells acts as a ligand for Toll receptors, enabling the transfer of signals from outside the cell to the inside. However, the function of Spätzle in the immune system of mud crab (Scylla paramamosain) remains unclear.

E2F transcription factors (E2Fs) are a family of transcription factors critical regulators of the cell cycle, apoptosis, and differentiation, thus influencing tumorigenesis. However, the specific roles of E2Fs in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remain unclear. Data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were used.

Lysine crotonylation (Kcr), a newly discovered post-translational modification, played a crucial role in physiology and disease progression. However, the roles of crotonylation in oocyte meiotic resumption remain elusive. As abnormal cumulus cell development will cause oocyte maturation arrest and female infertility, we report that cumulus cells surrounding human meiotic arrested oocytes showed significantly lower crotonylation, which was associated with decreased EP300 expression and blocked cumulus cell expansion.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a globally prevalent and highly disabling disease characterized by dysfunction of large-scale brain networks. Previous studies have found that static functional connectivity is not sufficient to reflect the complicated and time-varying properties of the brain. The underlying dynamic interactions between brain functional networks of MDD remain largely unknown, and it is also unclear whether neuroimaging-based dynamic properties are sufficiently robust to discriminate individuals with MDD from healthy controls since the diagnosis of MDD mainly depends on symptom-based criteria evaluated by clinical observation.

Background: Adipokines and inflammatory cytokines (ADICs) play important roles in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aimed to compare the changes of ADIC levels (ΔADICs) in patients with newly diagnosed T2DM treated with different antihyperglycemic agents, and further investigate the impact of these changes on metabolic indices, β-cell function and insulin resistance (IR).
Methods: Four hundred and sixteen patients with newly diagnosed T2DM from 25 centers in China randomly received 48-week intervention with exenatide, insulin or pioglitazone.

The association between the serum essential metal elements (magnesium, iron, copper, zinc, and calcium) and thyroid nodules is still inconsistent. The current study aims to investigate the relationship of metal elements with thyroid nodules and their malignant tendency. A total of 6480 Chinese euthyroid adults were included in our study.

Background: Previous studies have shown the interaction between age and socioeconomic status (SES) on the risk of infertility in the UK, but the association is still unclear in the United States. Therefore, the present study investigated the effect of age on the relationship between SES and the risk of infertility in American women.
Methods: The study included adults who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2013 to 2018.

Background: Rhabdomyolysis (RM)-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common renal disease with low survival rate and inadequate prognosis. In this study, we investigate the feasibility of chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for assessing the progression of RM-induced AKI in a mouse model.
Methods: AKI was induced in C57BL/6J mice via intramuscular injection of 7.

Background: Radiomics models could help assess the benign and malignant invasiveness and prognosis of pulmonary nodules. However, the lack of interpretability limits application of these models. We thus aimed to construct and validate an interpretable and generalized computed tomography (CT) radiomics model to evaluate the pathological invasiveness in patients with a solitary pulmonary nodule in order to improve the management of these patients.

Objectives: Secreted frizzled-related protein 2 (SFRP2), a novel adipokine that used to be considered an inhibitor of the canonical Wnt pathway, may play a protective role in metabolic disorders. However, its effect on diabetic cardiomyopathy was still unclear. Accumulating evidence indicates that mitophagy can protect cardiac function in the diabetic heart.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) show promise as second-line treatment for advanced bladder cancer (BLCA); however, their responsiveness is limited by the immune evasion mechanisms in tumor cells. This study conduct a Cox regression analysis to screen mRNA-binding proteins and reveals an association between Ras GTPase-activating protein-binding protein 1 (G3BP1) and diminished effectiveness of ICI therapy in patients with advanced BLCA. Subsequent investigation demonstrates that G3BP1 enhances immune evasion in BLCA cells by downregulating major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) through phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling activation.

Background: Perineural invasion (PNI) of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a strong independent risk factor for tumour recurrence and long-term patient survival. However, there is a lack of noninvasive tools for accurately predicting the PNI status. The authors develop and validate a combined model incorporating radiomics signature and clinicoradiological features based on machine learning for predicting PNI in ICC, and used the Shapley Additive explanation (SHAP) to visualize the prediction process for clinical application.

Microglia-mediated neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) confers strong neuroprotective effects in PD by regulating the phenotype of microglia. Recent studies suggest that TREM2 regulates high glucose-induced microglial inflammation through the NLRP3 signaling pathway.

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the effects of intensive psychological intervention care on adverse emotions and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms in female teenage patients after induced abortion.
Methods: This prospective cohort study included 100 teenage female patients seeking induced abortion who were randomly divided into two groups: the intervention group ( = 50) and the control group ( = 50). The intervention group received intensive psychological intervention care, while the control group received standard routine nursing.
