Background: Germline mutations have been identified in a small number of hereditary cancers, but the genetic predisposition for many familial cancers remains to be elucidated.
Methods: This study identified a Chinese pedigree that presented different cancers (breast cancer, BRCA; adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction, AEG; and B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, B-ALL) in each of the three generations. Whole-genome sequencing and whole-exome sequencing were performed on peripheral blood or bone marrow and cancer biopsy samples.

Endometrial cancer is the most common gynecological cancer in the developed world. However, the accuracy of current diagnostic methods is still unsatisfactory and time-consuming. Here, we presented an alternate approach to monitoring the progression of endometrial cancer via multiphoton microscopy imaging and analysis of collagen, which is often overlooked in current endometrial cancer diagnosis protocols but can offer a crucial signature in cancer biology.

The potential long-term effects of anesthesia on cognitive development, especially in neonates and infants, have raised concerns. However, our understanding of its underlying mechanisms and effective treatments is still limited. In this study, we found that early exposure to isoflurane (ISO) impaired fear memory retrieval, which was reversed by dexmedetomidine (DEX) pre-treatment.

Purpose: To develop and validate a nomogram model that combines radiomics features, clinical factors, and coagulation function indexes (CFI) to predict intraoperative blood loss (IBL) during cesarean sections, and to explore its application in optimizing perioperative management and reducing maternal morbidity.
Methods: In this retrospective consecutive series study, a total of 346 patients who underwent magnetic resonance imaging (156 for training and 68 for internal test, center 1; 122 for external test, center 2) were included. IBL+ was defined as more than 1000 mL estimated blood loss during cesarean sections.
Dendritic cells (DC) play a crucial role in the initiation of immune responses. TRIM41, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, can facilitate targeting protein degradation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of TRIM41 in the pathogenesis of airway allergy (AA) and the impact of regulating TRIM41 on suppressing AA.

Background: Fibrogenesis within ovarian endometrioma (endometrioma), mainly induced by transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), is characterized by myofibroblast over-activation and excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition, contributing to endometrioma-associated symptoms such as infertility by impairing ovarian reserve and oocyte quality. However, the precise molecular mechanisms that underpin the endometrioma- associated fibrosis progression induced by TGF-β remain poorly understood.
Methods: The expression level of lysine acetyltransferase 14 (KAT14) was validated in endometrium biopsies from patients with endometrioma and healthy controls, and the transcription level of KAT14 was further confirmed by analyzing a published single-cell transcriptome (scRNA-seq) dataset of endometriosis.

The occurrence of poisoning incidents caused by cyanobacterial blooms has aroused wide public concern. Microcystin-leucine arginine (MC-LR) is a well-established toxin produced by cyanobacterial blooms, which is widely distributed in eutrophic waters. MC-LR is not only hazardous to the water environment but also exerts multiple toxic effects including liver toxicity in both humans and animals.

Background: The short-term adverse effects of ambient fine particulate matter (PM) and ozone (O) on anxiety disorders (ADs) remained inconclusive.
Methods: We applied an individual-level time-stratified case-crossover study, which including 126,112 outpatient visits for ADs during 2019-2021 in Guangdong province, China, to investigate the association of short-term exposure to PM and O with outpatient visits for ADs, and estimate excess outpatient visits in South China. Daily residential air pollutant exposure assessments were performed by extracting grid data (spatial resolution: 1 km × 1 km) from validated datasets.

Purpose: Cesarean section may result in adverse psychosocial and behavioral outcomes because women put considerable emphasis on the process of birth. Virtual reality treatment has been shown by many studies to reduce anxiety and improve patient satisfaction. Therefore, we designed a randomized controlled trial to investigate whether the application of virtual reality technology during cesarean section can reduce maternal anxiety and improve satisfaction.
