Background: The descending genicular artery (DGA) and medial thigh region have been underused as donor sites for perforator flaps. This study evaluated the anatomical relationship between the perforators of the DGA and the saphenous vein (SV) to review the clinical applications of the free descending genicular artery perforator (DGAP) flap for locoregional reconstruction.
Methods: Fifteen cadavers were arterially perfused with red latex and dissected.

High-mobility group protein box 1 (HMGB1) is a cytokine with multiple functions (according to its subcellular location) that serves a marker of inflammation. CSF HMGB1 could be the part of pathological mechanisms that underlie the complications associated with CNS diseases. HMGB1 actively or passively released into the CSF is detected in the CSF in many diseases of the central nervous system (CNS) and thus may be useful as a biomarker.

Background: Mizoribine (MZR) is widely used in Asia due to its high safety and low cost, and comparative studies of its safety and efficacy with the first-line drug mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) have been carried out. This paper aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of MZR and MMF in immunosuppressive therapy of renal transplantation by meta-analysis.
Methods: We searched randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing MZR versus MMF for renal transplantation in PubMed, Excerpta Medica Database (EMBASE), Cochrane Library, Web of Science, WanFang Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Chinese Biomedical Database (CBM).

To determine the role of physical self in body-involving consumption, we explore how body image influences purchasing intention toward hybrid products with body-involving features. In this study, we establish the dual nature of body image: specifically, body image influences intention to purchase via the perception of utilitarian value and symbolic value. Further, we find a competitive mediation in which positive body image (PBI) negatively influences purchase intention (direct effect), while PBI is positively related to purchase intention via utilitarian and symbolic value (indirect effect).

Background: The aim of this systematic evaluation and meta-analysis was to analyze the efficacy and adverse effects of adjuvant targeted therapy regimens in advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC).
Methods: Studies eligible for the efficacy of adjuvant targeted therapy regimens in advanced or metastatic RCC published before December 2021 in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Clinical Trials Database (CENTRAL), and Web of Science were searched for (1) patients with locally advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) who received adjuvant postoperative targeted therapy versus those not receiving active treatment; (2) primary endpoint outcomes of disease-free survival (DFS), overall survival (OS), and adverse events (AEs); and (3) design: randomized controlled trial (RCT) as inclusion criteria. Data on DFS and OS were extracted or recalculated by meta-analysis as hazard ratios (HRs), and AEs were compared using a dominance ratio (OR).

Rib fracture is the most common injury in chest trauma. Most of patients with rib fractures were treated conservatively, but up to 50% of patients, especially those with combined injury such as flail chest, presented chronic pain or chest wall deformities, and more than 30% had long-term disabilities, unable to retain a full-time job. In the past two decades, surgery for rib fractures has achieving good outcomes.

Background: Neutrophils play a controversial role in tumor development. The function of programmed cell death-1 ligand (PD-L1) neutrophils, however, may inhibit the cytotoxicity of anti-tumor immunity. In this study, we elucidate the stimulators of PD-L1 neutrophils in tumor microenvironment (TME) and explore the optimal combination to enhance the effect of lenvatinib by inhibiting PD-L1 neutrophils in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Wound healing is a multi-step process that includes multiple cellular events such as cell proliferation, cell adhesion, and chemotactic response as well as cell apoptosis. Accumulating studies have documented the significance of stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1)/C-X-C chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) signaling in wound repair and regeneration. However, the molecular mechanism of regeneration is not clear.

To study the role of the activity in reducing the incidence of water leakage in digestive endoscopy, through the activity of the quality control circle (QCC), the reasons for water leakage and high maintenance cost are analyzed deeply. Then, the author formulated and implemented targeted measures to intervene in the non-standard aspects of daily management of endoscopy. Then targeted measures has been taken to improve the nonstandard daily management.

Objective: To investigate the effect of tranilast on wound healing and the mechanism of inhibiting scar hyperplasia in mice, and to study the relationship between the inhibiting ability of tranilast on scar hyperplasia and administration time.
Methods: Sixty-six Kunming mice were selected to build deep II degree burn model, and were randomly divided into the control group (18 mice), the early intervention group (18 mice), the medium intervention group (18 mice), and the late intervention group (12 mice). The mice in the early intervention group, the medium-term intervention group, and the late intervention group were given tranilast 200 mg/(kg·d) by gastrogavage at immediate, 7 days, and 14 days after burn respectively, and the mice in the control group were managed with same amount of normal saline every day.

Purpose: To investigate the treatment of acetabular anterior column fractures using a two-incision minimally invasive (TIMI) approach and minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) technique using a preshaped 3D plate.
Methods: A group of 12 consecutive cases of acetabular fractures from March 2013 to July 2014 were treated with the TIMI approach. 3D mirror models of the uninjured side of the hemipelvis were printed preoperatively; the plates used in surgery were preshaped according to these models.

Permanent postsurgical hypoparathyroidism is defined as insufficient parathyroid hormone (PTH) to maintain normocalcemia 6 months after surgery. It occurs mostly in reoperation for persistent or recurrent hyperparathyroidism. The treatment of long-term calcium and vitamin D supplement is burdensome and may cause iatrogenic complications.

Conventional chemotherapy is the main treatment for cancer and benefits patients in the form of decreased relapse and metastasis and longer overall survival. However, as the target therapy drugs and delivery systems are not wholly precise, it also results in quite a few side effects, and is less efficient in many cancers due to the spared cancer stem cells, which are considered the reason for chemotherapy resistance, relapse, and metastasis. Conventional chemotherapy limitations and the cancer stem cell hypothesis inspired our search for a novel chemotherapy targeting cancer stem cells.

Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) were first constructed by Takahshi and et al in 2006. They converted the mouse fibroblasts into ES-like cells via viral transduction with four transcription factors (Oct4, Sox2, Klf4 and c-Myc). Since, the significant progress has been made and many researchers have succeeded in inducing iPS cells from other human somatic cells by some novel approaches, such as combining transcriptional factors and small chemicals.
