Selectively depleting the pathogenic T cells is a fundamental strategy for the treatment of allograft rejection and autoimmune disease since it retains the overall immune function of host. The concept of killer artificial antigen-presenting cells (KaAPCs) has been developed by co-coupling peptide-major histocompatibility complex (pMHC) multimer and anti-Fas monoclonal antibody (mAb) onto the polymeric microparticles (MPs) to induce the apoptosis of antigen-specific T cells. But little information is available about its therapeutic potential and mechanism.

Surgeries, particularly ileocecal resection (ICR), are often required in the treatment of Crohn's disease (CD). However, recurrences are common for patients who undergo ICR, and anastomotic fibrosis is the main cause of re-operation. The present study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of triptolide (TPL) in ameliorating fibrosis following ileocolonic anastomosis.

Gefitinib/Quantum dots (QDs) loaded peptide long circulating liposomes (G/QDs-P-LCPL) were successfully prepared for treatment and detection by fluorescence labeling for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Gefitinib was found to have marked inhibition which is dose- and time-dependent. Hoechst 33258 florescence staining and wound-healing assay indicated that as G/QDs-P-LCPL concentration increased, HONE1 staining cells decreased, while the amount of nucleus pyknosis and karyorrhexis grew.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer related deaths in women and one of the most common cancers globally. The major obstacle in the management of breast cancer, especially at advanced stages, is metastasis. Metastasis in the advanced stages of breast cancer could decrease survival to approximately 5 years.

MicroRNAs (miRs) are short and highly conserved non-coding RNAs molecules consisting of 18-25 nucleotides that regulate gene expression at post-transcriptional level by direct binding to complementary binding sites within the 3'untranslated region (3'UTR) of target mRNAs. New evidences have demonstrated that miRNAs play an important role in diverse physiological processes, including regulating cell growth, apoptosis, metastasis, drug resistance, and invasion. In chromosomes 11 and 22 of the miR-130 family, paralogous miRNA sequences, miR-130a and miR-130b are situated, respectively.

Objective: Cytokine receptor-like factor 2(CRLF2) plays an important role in the development of normal B lymphocytes, which can mediate early B cell proliferation and survival. The aim of this study was to investigate the mutations of CRLF2 and its clinical significance in adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL).
Methods: Exons of CRLF2 were amplified, then the DNA was purified and sequenced; the frequency, position, types and clinical significance of CRLF2 mutations were analyzed.

Intimal hyperplasia, the key event of arterial restenosis, is a result of cell proliferation and cell migration. Atorvastatin exerts an inhibitory effect on cell proliferation and migration, but the mechanism remains largely unknown. p16, as a well-known tumor suppressor, was also reported to suppress cell growth and migration, but with an unclear mechanism.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by chronic destructive inflammation in synovial joints. To date, many studies explored the associations between tumor necrosis factor alpha inducible protein 3 (TNFAIP3) gene rs6920220, rs2230926, and rs5029937 polymorphisms and the risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), but with contradictory results. We therefore conducted a comprehensive meta-analysis to address the associations.

The zinc-finger transcription factor Snail1 is inappropriately expressed in breast cancer and associated with poor prognosis. While interrogating human databases, we uncovered marked decreases in relapse-free survival of breast cancer patients expressing high Snail1 levels in tandem with wild-type, but not mutant, p53. Using a Snail1 conditional knockout model of mouse breast cancer that maintains wild-type p53, we find that Snail1 plays an essential role in tumour progression by controlling the expansion and activity of tumour-initiating cells in preneoplastic glands and established tumours, whereas it is not required for normal mammary development.

The modulation of sino-atrial node (SAN) automaticity is an essential mechanism of heart rate generation that is still not completely understood. Recent studies highlighted the importance of protein serotonylation by intracellular 5-HT during varies physiological actions. Nevertheless, the functional role of protein serotonylation in controlling SAN automaticity is largely unexplored.

Genetic mutations on signaling pathways are found in patients with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and act as markers of high-risk leukemia. Mutations in dynamin 2 (DNM2) have been reported in T-ALL, particularly in early T-cell precursor-ALL. In the present study, DNM2 mutations were screened by sequencing DNM2 exons obtained by polymerase chain reaction amplification and gel purification in adult T-ALL patients.

Background: Butyrate is an energy source for colonocytes that is formed by bacterial fermentation of dietary fiber in the colon and that exerts broad anti-inflammatory activities. Although the administration of butyrate improves homeostasis in patients and ameliorates IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease)-related lesions and symptoms, the anti-inflammatory mechanisms of butyrate still remain unclear. To explore the impact of butyrate on Treg (Regulatory T cell)/Th17 (T helper 17 cell) differentiation and colitis in rats.

T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) results from the collaboration of multiple genetic abnormalities in the transformation of T-cell progenitors. Plant homeodomain finger protein 6 () has recently been established as a key tumor suppressor, which is mutated in T-ALL; however, the clinical significance of mutations has not been fully determined in adult T-ALL. In the present study, amplification of the exons was performed, followed by DNA sequencing to identify the genomic mutations and examine the expression of in adult patients with T-ALL.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) remains the leading cause of cancer-related death in children and young adults. Compared to ALL in children, adult ALL has a much lower cure rate. Therefore, it is important to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying high-risk ALL and to develop therapeutic strategies that specifically target genes or pathways in ALL.
