Background: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a reliable method to resect early esophageal cancer. Esophageal stricture is one of the major complications after ESD of the esophagus. Steroid prophylaxis for esophageal strictures, particularly local injection of triamcinolone acetonide (TA), is a relatively effective method to prevent esophageal strictures.

Efficacy and risk factors of stent placement in the treatment of malignant tracheoesophageal fistula.

Background: Due to the low incidence of malignant tracheoesophageal fistula and the paucity of relevant clinical studies, the benefits of stent implantation have not been well documented. It remains unclear which factors may affect fistula closure.

Methods: Between January 2015 and January 2021, 344 patients who were diagnosed with malignant tracheoesophageal fistula at Zhongda Hospital, Southeast University, were retrospectively enrolled.

Association between circulating unsaturated fatty acid and preeclampsia: a two-sample Mendelian randomization study.

Objective: In recent years, several studies have reported an association between unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs) and the risk of developing preeclampsia; however, its exact causal effect is unclear. This study assessed the causal association between circulating UFAs and preeclampsia.

Methods: A two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study using publicly available genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary data for circulating UFA s ( = 114,999) and preeclampsia ( = 118,291) was performed.

Causal associations of Insomnia and postpartum depression: a two-sample mendelian randomization study.

Background: Postpartum depression (PPD), a prevalent social-mental condition, impacts the mother and the newborn and several facets of their lives. It has been suggested that insomnia is related to both the occurrence and progression of PPD. Objective: This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of literature related to the diagnosis of chorioamnionitis (CAM) and to point out the current research progress, hotspots, and development trends of CAM research.

Study Design: Literature on the diagnosis of CAM from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) between 2010 and 2022 was retrieved. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Online Analysis Platform (OALM) were used to draw maps of authors, articles, journals, institutions, countries/regions, and keywords.

Comparison between ESD and RFA in patients with total or near-total circumferential early esophageal squamous cell neoplasia.

Background: Patients with early esophageal squamous cell neoplasias (ESCNs) that are totally or nearly totally circumferential face challenges in their clinical work. Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) frequently leads to esophageal strictures. Endoscopic radiofrequency ablation (RFA), which stands out for its simplicity of use and low rate of stenosis, is a rapidly evolving therapeutic strategy for early ESCNs.

The Role of Ferroptosis in Placental-Related Diseases.

Ferroptosis is a recently identified form of programmed cell death which is different from apoptosis, pyroptosis, necrosis, and autophagy. It is uniquely defined by redox-active iron-dependent hydroxy-peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA)-containing phospholipids and a loss of lipid peroxidation repair capacity. Ferroptosis has recently been implicated in multiple human diseases, such as tumors, ischemia-reperfusion injury, acute kidney injury, neurological diseases, and asthma among others.

Objective: To develop binary and quaternary classification prediction models in patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) using machine learning methods, so that doctors can evaluate the risk of patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and severe ARDS at an early stage.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on SAP patients hospitalized in our hospital from August 2017 to August 2022. Logical Regression (LR), Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree (DT), and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGB) were used to build the binary classification prediction model of ARDS.

Background: The results of randomized controlled studies on aspirin for the prevention of preeclampsia (PE) are conflicting, and some of the related meta-analyses also have limitations or flaws.

Data Sources: A search was conducted on PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases, with no time or language restrictions.

Background: The decline in the quantity and quality of oocytes due to ovarian ageing in women is now a significant threat to reproductive health today as the concept of delayed fertility becomes widespread. However, the molecular mechanisms of natural ovarian ageing have not been fully elucidated.

Method: Here, we used transcriptomic data from 180 normal ovarian tissues from GTEx V8 to analyze the expression profile of ovarian tissues from women with age segments of 20-29 (22 individuals), 30-39 (14 individuals), 40-49 (37 individuals), 50-59 (61 individuals), 60-69 (42 individuals), and 70-79 (4 individuals), respectively.

The predictive value of renal parenchymal information for renal function impairment in patients with ADPKD: a multicenter prospective study.

Objective: Although the guideline indicates that total kidney volume (TKV) is an important detection indicator in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), this study attempted to demonstrate that renal parenchymal information, combined with parenchymal volume and radiomics features, may have more valuable clinical guiding significance.

Methods: A totals of 340 ADPKD patients with normal renal function were prospectively collected and followed-up for five years, with renal function tests and non-contrast computed tomography (CT) performed every six months. The relationship between renal function impairment and renal parenchymal volume (RPV) as along with radiomics features was explored using a multiple linear regression model and multiple logistic regression.

The authors searched Web of Science, PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and performed systematic searches on endoscopic grading of GIM of the entire stomach using Meta-DiSc and Stata. Sensitivity and specificity for the stratified prediction of overall GIM were 0.

Intraoperative Cell Salvage for Women at High Risk of Postpartum Hemorrhage During Cesarean Section: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) can lead to substantial blood loss that compromises maternal hemodynamic stability and consequently cause severe maternal complications such as organ dysfunction or death. Intraoperative cell salvage (IOCS), an effective method of blood conservation used in other surgical specialties, can be an alternative intervention for managing PPH. Thus, our aim was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of IOCS for women at high risk of PPH undergoing cesarean sections.

The number of biopsy specimens can influence the non-lifting sign in colorectal laterally spreading tumors.

Background:  Although the problem of whether to perform a biopsy before endoscopic treatment for colorectal laterally spreading tumor (LST) troubles clinicians, about 50 % of lesions still undergo a preceding biopsy. We aimed to explore factors affecting the non-lifting sign in LST and examine the influence of "biopsy-related factors", such as the number of biopsy specimens and the interval after biopsy on non-lifting sign in cases with a history of biopsy.

Methods:  Clinical data of 159 LSTs regarding age, gender, history of biopsy, tumor location, tumor size, the depth of submucosal invasion, tumor configuration, histologic type, location with respect to the fold, and result of non-lifting sign testing were investigated retrospectively.
