Endophytic fungi are present in every plant, and crops are no exception. There are more than 50,000 edible plant species on the planet, but only 15 crops provide 90 percent of the global energy intake, and "the big four"-wheat, rice, maize and potato-are staples for about 5 billion people. Not only do the four staple crops contribute to global food security, but the endophytic fungi within their plant tissues are complex ecosystems that have been under scrutiny.

Key Laboratory of Catalysis and Energy Materials Chemistry of Ministry of Education & Hubei Key Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials Science, South-Central Minzu University, Wuhan 430074, China.

Single-atom catalysts (SACs) are attractive in one-carbon (C1) chemistry because of their high atom efficiency. However, it is a great challenge for understanding the dynamic roles of SACs under operating conditions. Here, isolated Pt atoms trapped on defective CeO surface are investigated by experiments, especially operando techniques, which offers basic understanding of the nature and dynamic evolution of the Pt-CeO interface in dry reforming of methane (DRM).

The regulation of topological structure of covalent adaptable networks (CANs) remains a challenge for epoxy CANs. Here, we report a strategy to develop strong and tough epoxy supramolecular thermosets with rapid reprocessability and room-temperature closed-loop recyclability. These thermosets were constructed from vanillin-based hyperbranched epoxy resin (VanEHBP) through the introduction of intermolecular hydrogen bonds and dual dynamic covalent bonds, as well as the formation of intramolecular and intermolecular cavities.

Depression recognition using voice-based pre-training model.

Sci Rep

June 2024

School of Biomedical Engineering, South-Central Minzu University, No.182, Minzu Avenue, Hongshan District, Wuhan City, 430074, Hubei Province, China.

The early screening of depression is highly beneficial for patients to obtain better diagnosis and treatment. While the effectiveness of utilizing voice data for depression detection has been demonstrated, the issue of insufficient dataset size remains unresolved. Therefore, we propose an artificial intelligence method to effectively identify depression.

Article Synopsis
  • A new method has been developed that uses a cooperative Rh/achiral phosphoric acid for a [3+3] cycloaddition reaction involving carbonyl ylides and quinone monoimines.
  • This method allows for the rapid and efficient construction of highly complex oxa-bridged benzofused dioxabicyclo[3.2.1]octane structures, resulting in good to excellent yields while maintaining mild reaction conditions.
  • The practicality of this approach is highlighted by successful gram-scale syntheses and subsequent transformations of the products into various functionalized oxa-bridged heterocycles.

Background: Visualization of sports has a lot of potential for future development in data sports because of how quickly things are changing and how much sports depend on data. Presently, conventional systems fail to accurately address sports persons' dynamic health data change with less error rate. Further, those systems are unable to distinguish players' health data and their visualization in a precise manner.

There is growing evidence showing that adiponectin (APN) can improve Alzheimer's disease(AD)-like pathological changes by improving insulin resistance. However, the role of AdipoRon (an Adiponectin receptor agonist) on synaptic plasticity and cognitive dysfunction in the early stages of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) remains unknown. In this study, we investigated the neuroprotective effect and the molecular mechanism underlying the effect of AdipoRon in T2DM mice.

Nuclear Factor Erythroid 2-Related Factor 2 as a Potential Therapeutic Target in Neonatal Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy.

J Integr Neurosci

May 2024

Key Laboratory of Cognitive Science, Laboratory of Membrane Ion Channels and Medicine, College of Biomedical Engineering, South-Central Minzu University, 430079 Wuhan, Hubei, China.

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a prominent cause of neonatal mortality and neurodevelopmental disorders; however, effective therapeutic interventions remain limited. During neonatal hypoxic-ischemic injury events, increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and decreased antioxidant levels lead to the induction of oxidative stress, which plays a pivotal role in the pathological process of neonatal HIE. Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is a key endogenous antioxidant transcription factor that protects against oxidative stress by promoting the transcription of various antioxidant genes.
