Nano-TiO as an antimicrobial inorganic material, can stimulate cells to produce reactive oxygen species and exhibit effective biochemical properties; however, phenylpyrazole derivatives, as organic pesticides, are widely used in agriculture and food. To find novel pesticides with environmental friendliness, combined with three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) prediction analysis, three types of alkaloidal phenylpyrazole amine derivatives (PA) were synthesized by a one-pot microwave method. Based on the dye sensitization strategy, four nano-organometallic pesticides (PT) were prepared by organic-inorganic hybridization.

A novel balloon-type photoacoustic cell (BTPAC) is proposed to facilitate the detection limitations of acetylene (CH) gas achieving ppb level. Here, an ellipsoidal photoacoustic cavity is employed as the platform for gas-light interaction. By strategically directing the excitation source towards the focal point of the ellipsoidal cavity, ensuring its trajectory traverses the focal point upon each reflection from the interior walls.

Cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) regulates synaptic transmission through presynaptic receptors in nerve terminals, and its physiological roles are of clinical relevance. The cellular sources and synaptic targets of CB1-expressing terminals in the human cerebral cortex are undefined. We demonstrate a variable laminar pattern of CB1-immunoreactive axons and electron microscopically show that CB1-positive GABAergic terminals make type-2 synapses innervating dendritic shafts (69%), dendritic spines (20%) and somata (11%) in neocortical layers 2-3.

Hantaan virus glycoprotein Gc induces NEDD4-dependent PTEN ubiquitination and degradation to escape the restriction of autophagosomes and facilitate viral propagation.

FASEB J

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Virology, Institute of Medical Virology, Taikang Medical School (School of Basic Medical Sciences), Wuhan University, Wuhan, Hubei, China.

Hantaan virus (HTNV) infection causes severe hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in humans and the infectious process can be regulated by autophagy. The phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) protein has antiviral effects and plays a critical role in the autophagy pathway. However, the relationship between PTEN and HTNV infection is not clear and whether PTEN-regulated autophagy involves in HTNV replication is unknown.

Fucosylated chondroitin sulfate (FCS) from Holothuria mexicana (FCS) was selected for investigation because of its intriguing branch features. Selective β-eliminative depolymerization and the bottom-up assembly were performed to unravel that FCS consisted of a {D-GlcA-β1,3-D-GalNAc} backbone and branches of alternating Fuc (55 %) and D-GalNAc-α1,2-L-Fuc (45 %), the highest proportion of disaccharide branch reported to date. In branches, sulfation could occur at every free -OH site except O-3 of GalNAc, being the most complex and various structure features of natural FCS.

Brown planthoppers (BPHs, Stål) are a major threat to rice cultivation in Asia, necessitating the development of pest-resistant varieties for effective management. However, the adaptability of BPHs has resulted in the development of virulent populations, such as biotype Y BPHs, which exhibit significant virulence against the rice variety YHY15 that harbors the resistance gene . The various response mechanisms of BPH populations to resistant rice varieties are critical yet underexplored.

Maximum correntropy criterion (MCC) has been an important method in machine learning and signal processing communities since it was successfully applied in various non-Gaussian noise scenarios. In comparison with the classical least squares method (LS), which takes only the second-order moment of models into consideration and belongs to the convex optimization problem, MCC captures the high-order information of models that play crucial roles in robust learning, which is usually accompanied by solving the non-convexity optimization problems. As we know, the theoretical research on convex optimizations has made significant achievements, while theoretical understandings of non-convex optimization are still far from mature.

Shenzhen Grubbs Institute and Department of Chemistry, Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Small Molecule Drug Discovery and Synthesis, Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Catalysis, Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

3-Amino boron dipyrromethenes (BODIPYs) are a versatile class of fluorophores widely utilized in live cell imaging, photodynamic therapy, and fluorescent materials science. Despite the growing demand for optically active BODIPYs, the synthesis of chiral 3-amino-BODIPYs, particularly the catalytic asymmetric version, remains a challenge. Herein, we report the synthesis of boron-stereogenic 3-amino-BODIPYs via a palladium-catalyzed desymmetric C-N cross-coupling of prochiral 3,5-dihalogen-BODIPYs.

The global situation of carbon reduction is very severe, and the coupling of digital and green technology innovation is one of the most significant approaches to promoting regional low-carbon transformation. A coupling evaluation model is employed to assess the coupling index between digital technology innovation and green technology innovation in China's 30 provinces from 2011 to 2021. The STIRPAT model is used to examine the impact of the increasing coupling index on carbon emissions, as well as its spatial effects, and heterogeneity.

Heat interferes with multiple meiotic processes, leading to genome instability and sterility in flowering plants, including many crops. Despite its importance for food security, the mechanisms underlying heat tolerance of meiosis are poorly understood. In this study, we analyzed different meiotic processes in the Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) accessions Col and Ler, their F1 hybrids, and the F2 offspring under heat stress (37 °C).

Bacteria biofilm infection seriously challenges clinical drug therapy. Nitric oxide (NO) was reported to disperse biofilm, eliminate bacteria resistance and kill bacteria. In this study, on the basis of membrane targeting of α-mangostin (α-MG) and the dispersion effect of NO on bacteria biofilms, we designed and synthesized 30 NO donors that α-MG was conjugated with a nitrobenzene or a nitrate and other four representative reference derivatives.

Background: Tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) inhibitors are widely used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), but there is still a lack of systematic risk assessment for pulmonary toxicity.

Methods: We calculated the pulmonary-related risk signals for four TNF-α inhibitors using the disproportionality analysis and also compared them with the pulmonary-related signals of seven other therapies.

Results: There were 8736 reports of pulmonary-related adverse events (AEs) to TNF-α inhibitors as the 'primary suspect (PS)' therapies.
