Community burden of hypertension and treatment patterns: An in-depth age predictor analysis: (The Rural Community Risk of Non-Communicable Disease Study - Nyive Phase I).

Background: This study aimed to describe the burden, treatment patterns and, age threshold for predicting hypertension among rural adults in Nyive in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region, Ghana.

Methods: A population-based cross-sectional study design was employed. A total of 417 adults aged 20 years and above were randomly selected from households within the Nyive community.

The Genetic and Epigenetic Mechanisms Involved in Irreversible Pulp Neural Inflammation.

Aim: To identify the critical genetic and epigenetic biomarkers by constructing the long noncoding RNA- (lncRNA-) related competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network involved in irreversible pulp neural inflammation (pulpitis).

Materials And Methods: The public datasets regarding irreversible pulpitis were downloaded from the gene expression omnibus (GEO) database. The differential expression analysis was performed to identify the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and DElncRNAs.

Transfusion-transmitted malaria: donor prevalence of parasitaemia and a survey of healthcare workers knowledge and practices in a district hospital in Ghana.

Background: Transfusion-transmitted malaria (TTM) is a risk of transfusion that has not been well described in malaria endemic regions. The risk of the recipient getting malaria is related to the prevalence of malaria in the blood donors. There is however little information on the prevalence of malaria among donors in Akatsi district of Ghana.

Medial facet patelloplasty in patellar instability associated with patellofemoral dysplasia: a report of 26 cases.

Introduction: Numerous procedures may be used in the surgical treatment of patellar instability. We have noticed that certain types of patellar instability result in a bulge (or protrusion) of the distal medial facet of the patella which can hinder recentering in the trochlear groove.

Hypothesis: In certain patellofemoral dysplasias, trimming down of this bulge (patelloplasty) as long as it is associated with a "à la carte surgery" program, can improve stability, centering and lateral patellar tilt.
