Introduction: This paper examines the association between the dietary inflammatory index (DII) and the risk of metabolic syndrome (MS) and its components among Uygur adults in Kashi, Xinjiang.
Methods: The study used the multi-stage random cluster sampling method to investigate the adult residents of Uighu aged over 18 years old in one county and one township/street of three cities in Kashi between May and June 2021. All dietary data collected were analyzed for energy and nutrient intake with a nutritional analysis software, followed by a calculation of DII.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal malignancies in the world and remains one of the leading causes of cancer related death. For its treatment, a lot of investigations have dealt not only with individual chemotherapy by using polymeric carriers to deliver anticancer drugs, but also with individual gene therapy by using polymeric carriers to deliver nucleic acids such as small interfering RNA (siRNA) and plasmid DNA. However, relatively few studies have been focused on the co-delivery of gene and anticancer drug by multifunctional polymeric carriers for its synergistic therapy.

The principal benefit of employing percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) for managing osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures lies in its capacity to facilitate early mobilization in elderly patients, thereby effectively avoiding the potential catastrophic complications associated with prolonged bedridden states. However, bone cement leakage, as the most common complication of PVP, may have fatal consequences. Here, we report a case involving an 85-year-old male patient with L1 vertebral compression fracture who underwent PVP at our hospital and was discharged on the same day of the surgical intervention.

Background: Diffuse pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) is prone to recurrence after surgery, and it is difficult to achieve a long-term complete cure.
Objective: To reduce the recurrence rate of PVNS, the author pioneered the arthroscopic total synovial peel (ATSP).
Methods: From March 2014 to July 2020, a total of 19 patients (6 males and 13 females) with diffuse PVNS of the knee were treated in our department and underwent ATSP.

The morbidity and mortality rates of cardiovascular disease are markedly higher in patients with diabetes than in non-diabetic patients, including patients with ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). However, the cardiovascular protective effects of Empagliflozin (EMPA) on IRI in diabetes mellitus have rarely been studied. In this study, we established a cardiomyocyte hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury model to mimic myocardial I/R injuries that occur in vivo.

Background: Recent studies indicate that non-coding circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in the development of esophageal carcinoma (EC). This study aimed to identify differential expression of circRNAs in EC, which can provide potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for EC treatment and improve the understanding of tumorigenesis mechanism.
Methods: First, samples (n=5) of EC tissues and adjacent normal tissue were sent for circRNA microarray detection, Second, further bioinformatic analysis was performed, including circRNA-microRNA (miRNA), co-expression network analysis, Spearman correlation test, and cancer-related circRNA-miRNA axis analysis.

Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) patients with progressive leukocytosis are more likely to have various complications and poor outcomes. However, the regulatory roles of microRNAs in the leukocytosis of APL have not been clarified. Our study aims to evaluate the effects of miRNAs on leukocytosis during induction therapy of APL patients and explore its potential mechanisms.
