As flexible all-solid-state batteries are highly safe and light weight, they can be considered as candidates for wearable energy sources. However, their performance needs to be first improved, which can be done by using highly conductive solid-state electrolytes. Herein, we prepare a crystallized and amorphous LLTO electrolyte through magnetron sputtering and investigate the effect of heat treatment on its ionic conductivity.

Post-acute myocardial infarction (post-AMI) infection is an infrequent but important and serious complication in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Predicting its occurrence is essential for future prevention. However, little is known about the prediction of post-AMI infection in such patients to date.

Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) has been used to alleviate hypoxemia and dyspnea, but there is no consensus on the application of NIV in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Some staff use NIV as the rescue therapy which might lead to the adverse outcomes. This study was to identify early factors associated with intubation to help the medical staff select appropriate patients for receiving NIV treatment.

The relatively low partial pressure of oxygen, reduced oxygen saturation, and aberrant plasma metabolites in COVID-19 may alter energy metabolism in peripheral immune cells. However, little is known regarding the immunometabolic defects of T cells in COVID-19 patients, which may contribute to the deregulated immune functions of these cells. In this study, we longitudinally characterized the metabolic profiles of resting and activated T cells from acutely infected and convalescent COVID-19 patients by flow cytometry and confirmed the metabolic profiles with a Seahorse analyzer.

The focal adhesion protein Kindlin2 is essential for integrin activation, a process that is fundamental to cell-extracellular matrix adhesion. Kindlin 2 (Fermt2) is widely expressed in mouse embryos, and its absence causes lethality at the peri-implantation stage due to the failure to trigger integrin activation. The function of kindlin2 during embryogenesis has not yet been fully elucidated as a result of this early embryonic lethality.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play biological roles in brain disorder and neurodegenerative diseases. As the functions of lncRNA NEAT1 in Parkinson's disease (PD) remain unknown, in the present study, we aimed to explore the roles and underlying molecular mechanisms of NEAT1 in PD. A PD mouse model induced by 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) and a cell model of SH-SY5Y induced by N-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+) were established.

Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) patients with progressive leukocytosis are more likely to have various complications and poor outcomes. However, the regulatory roles of microRNAs in the leukocytosis of APL have not been clarified. Our study aims to evaluate the effects of miRNAs on leukocytosis during induction therapy of APL patients and explore its potential mechanisms.

All-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) are attractive for energy storage, mainly because introducing solid-state electrolytes significantly improves the battery performance in terms of safety, energy density, process compatibility, etc., compared with liquid electrolytes. However, the ionic conductivity of the solid-state electrolyte and the interface between the electrolyte and the electrode are two key factors that limit the performance of ASSBs.

Fe-N-C with atomically dispersed Fe single atoms is the most promising candidate to replace platinum for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in fuel cells. However, the conventional synthesis procedures require quantities solvents and metal precursors, sluggish adsorption process, and tedious washing, resulting in limited metal doping and uneconomical for large-scale production. For the first time, FeO is adopted as the Fe precursor to derive abundant single Fe atoms dispersed on carbon surfaces.

Overuse of antibiotics in clinical medicine has contributed to the global spread of multidrug-resistant bacterial pathogens, including . We present a case of an 88-year-old Chinese man who developed hospital-acquired pneumonia caused by carbapenem-resistant (CRAB). A personalized lytic pathogen-specific single-phage preparation was nebulized to the patient continuously for 16 days in combination with tigecycline and polymyxin E.

Crystallization and growth of anisotropic nanocrystals (NCs) into distinct superlattices were studied in real time, yielding kinetic details and designer parameters for scale-up fabrication of functional materials. Using octahedral PbS NC blocks, we discovered that NC assembly involves a primary lamellar ordering of NC-detached Pb(OA) molecules on the front-spreading solvent surfaces. Upon a spontaneous increase of NC concentration during solvent processing, PbS NCs preferentially self-assembled into an orientation-disordered face-centered cubic (fcc) superlattice, which subsequently transformed into a body-centered cubic (bcc) superlattice with single NC-orientational ordering across individual domains.

Metastasis is the fundamental cause of cancer mortality, but there are still very few anti-metastatic drugs available. Endosomal trafficking has been implicated in tumor metastasis, and we have previously found that small chemical vacuolin-1 (V1) potently inhibits autophagosome-lysosome fusion and general endosomal-lysosomal degradation. Here, we assessed the anti-metastatic activity of V1 both in vitro and in vivo.

A compact setup with a planar-cathode and grid-anode plus free field drift distance configuration (momentatron) has provided a new way to measure the transverse momentum and, hence, the emittance of the electron beam from a photocathode. This method has been used for analysis of the transverse momentum and emittance of the photoemitted electron beam from the photocathode in a stepwise manner during the fabrication process. The errors caused by the lensing effect from opening holes of the grid anode and misalignments caused by tilting and curving have been systematically analyzed.

It has been well documented that agricultural activities lead to significant alterations in surface water dissolved organic matter (DOM), yet their impacts on groundwater DOM remain poorly constrained. The quantity, source, and composition of DOM play a pivotal role in a range of groundwater ecosystem services that are of important ecological and societal values. We assessed the impact of irrigation on the source and compositional characteristics of groundwater DOM in a large river basin supporting intensive agriculture in arid northwestern China.

EsxA, secreted by the ESAT-6 secretion system 1 (ESX-1) secretion system, is considered the major () virulence determinant. However, the roles of the individual ESX-1 substrates, such as EspC, remain unclear due to their interdependency for secretion with EsxA. Here, we validated that EspC triggered ER stress-mediated apoptosis in macrophages.
