Findings on the association between childhood sexual abuse (CSA) and antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence have been varied, with some studies showing a relationship, or a lack thereof. However, to our knowledge, no study has examined this association among older adults living with HIV (OALH). Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the association between CSA and ART adherence among OALH using a mixed methods approach.

Computational phenotyping with the All of Us Research Program: identifying underrepresented people with HIV or at risk of HIV.

Objective: This study aims to identify the people living with HIV (PWH) and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) users in the All of Us (AoU) database by integrating information from both electronic health record (EHR)- and self-reported survey data.

Methods: We identified PWH and PrEP users if they met the inclusion criterion by conditions, lab measurements, or medications related to HIV in EHR data or confirmed questions in the Survey data.

COVID-19 challenges, responses, and resilience among rural Black women: a study protocol.

Despite the aggregated burdens and challenges experienced by rural Black women during the COVID-19 pandemic, many likely also demonstrated strength and resilience to overcome challenges. A mixed methodology and a community-based participatory approach will be used to collect multilevel data on challenges, responses, resilience, and lessons during the pandemic from Black women, community health workers, and community leaders in rural areas in South Carolina (SC). Impact of HIV on COVID-19 Outcomes: A Propensity Score Matching Analysis with Varying Age Differences.

Background: Timely linkage to care (LTC) is key in the HIV care continuum, as it enables people newly diagnosed with HIV (PNWH) to benefit from HIV treatment at the earliest stage. Previous studies have found LTC disparities by individual factors, but data are limited beyond the individual level, especially at the county level. Ten-Year Cardiovascular Disease Risk Score and Cognitive Function Among Older Adults: The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2011 to 2014.

Background The Framingham 10-year cardiovascular disease risk score, which is based on age, sex, smoking, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, blood pressure, and diabetes, has been found to be associated with cognitive health, but these findings have not been validated in a representative sample in the United States. We aimed to examine the associations of Framingham risk score with cognitive function among older adults in a nationally representative sample, as well as by race or ethnicity, education, and family income. Methods and Results A total of 2254 older adults ≥60 years (57% female, 79% non-Hispanic White) in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2011 to 2014 were included in the final sample for analysis.

Childhood Sexual Trauma and Subjective Cognitive Decline: An Assessment of Racial/Ethnic and Sexual Orientation Disparities.

Prior studies examining the association between childhood sexual abuse (CSA) and subjective cognitive decline (SCD) are limited. The aim of this study was to examine the racial/ethnic and sexual orientation disparities in the association between CSA and SCD. Using data from the 2019 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Survey, crude and multivariable logistic regression models were used to determine the association between CSA and SCD adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics, diabetes, hypertension, and depression.

Purpose: Rural children and adolescents face disproportionate challenges in access to health care services than their urban counterparts. Yet, recent evidence on disparities in access to health care between rural and urban children and adolescents has been limited. This study examines the associations of residence location with receipt of preventive care, foregone medical care, and continuity of insurance coverage among US children and adolescents.

Introduction: Sustained viral suppression, an indicator of long-term treatment success and mortality reduction, is one of four strategic areas of the 'Ending the HIV Epidemic' federal campaign launched in 2019. Under-represented populations, like racial or ethnic minority populations, sexual and gender minority groups, and socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, are disproportionately affected by HIV and experience a more striking virological failure. The COVID-19 pandemic might magnify the risk of incomplete viral suppression among under-represented people living with HIV (PLWH) due to interruptions in healthcare access and other worsened socioeconomic and environmental conditions.
