Metallogels built in a bottom-up approach by metal coordination and supramolecular interactions have important potential for the elaboration of smart materials. In this context, we present here the formation of supramolecular coordination polymers driven by the complexation of cobalt(II) or zinc(II) ions with polyoxometalate-based hybrids displaying two terpyridine ligands in a linear arrangement. Thanks to the electrostatic interactions between the polyoxometalate cores and metal nodes, the polymer chains self-assemble into fibers that physically cross-link to form gels above a critical concentration.

Background: Lower mini-sternotomy offers the advantage of providing excellent visualization of the 4 cardiac cavities, allowing surgical treatment of aortic, mitral and tricuspid valves as well as any intra-cavitary procedure. Technical issues, as well as safety and echocardiographic results of this approach, are lacking. The aim of this retrospective study was to describe outcomes of lower mini-sternotomy to treat valvulopathies and other intracardiac surgeries.

Burkholderia pseudomallei, a soil-borne bacterium that causes melioidosis, endemic in South and Southeast Asia and northern Australia, is now emerging in new regions. Since the 1990s, cases have been reported in French overseas departments, including Martinique and Guadeloupe in the Caribbean, and Reunion Island and Mayotte in the Indian Ocean, suggesting a local presence of the bacterium. Our phylogenetic analysis of 111 B.

Background: Immune ageing complicates cancer treatment in older individuals. While immunotherapy targeting the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway can reinvigorate T cells, these cells tend to become senescent with age. This study investigates different CD8 T cell subsets usually associated with senescence, in cancer patients over 70 years old who are undergoing anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy, and examines the relationship between these senescent cells and prior chemotherapy exposure.

Schizophrenia (SCZ), bipolar (BD) and major depression disorder (MDD) are severe psychiatric disorders that are challenging to treat, often leading to treatment resistance (TR). It is crucial to develop effective methods to identify and treat patients at risk of TR at an early stage in a personalized manner, considering their biological basis, their clinical and psychosocial characteristics. Effective translation of theoretical knowledge into clinical practice is essential for achieving this goal.

Autoinflammatory diseases (AIDs) are characterized by dysregulation of innate immunity, leading to systemic inflammation. Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is the most common AID, associated with variants in exon 10 of MEFV. This gene codes for pyrin, a key protein in the inflammasome of the same name, involved in the innate immune response.

Background And Objectives: Blood-based biomarkers of amyloid and tau have been shown to predict Alzheimer disease (AD) dementia. Much less is known about their ability to predict risk of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), an earlier disease stage. This study examined whether levels of blood biomarkers of amyloid (Aβ/Aβ ratio), tau (p-tau), neurodegeneration (NfL), and glial activation and neuroinflammation (glial fibrillary acidic protein [GFAP], YKL40, soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 [sTREM2]) collected when participants were cognitively normal are associated with the time to onset of MCI.

Recently, halide perovskites have been recognized for their thermochromic characteristics, showing significant potential in information encryption applications. However, the limited luminescence color gamut hinders the encryption of complex multicolor information. Herein, for the first time, multicolor thermochromic perovskites with luminescence covering the entire visible spectrum have been designed.

Current epidemiological indicators reflect the prevalence of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing rather than the actual incidence of clinically significant prostate cancer. These indicators are also biased because of the variability of the PSA test. We therefore need to adopt new reliable criteria in causal epidemiological studies and screening programs.

Up to 50% of patients with pulmonary embolism (PE) experience hemodynamic instability and approximately 70% of patients who die of PE experience an accelerated cascade of symptoms within the first hours of onset of symptoms, thus necessitating rapid evaluation and intervention. Venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and other ventricular assist devices, depending on the hemodynamic derangements present, may be used to stabilize patients with massive PE refractory to initial therapies or with contraindications to other interventions. Given the abnormalities in both pulmonary circulation and gas exchange caused by massive PE, venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation may be considered the preferred form of mechanical circulatory support for most patients.

Epistaxis greatly affects patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT). Although few systemic treatment exist, nintedanib, is a good candidate thanks to its anti-angiogenic activity. Our main objective was to evaluate the efficacy of oral nintedanib on epistaxis duration in HHT patients with moderate to severe epistaxis.

Background: This work aims at providing practical recommendations for implementing automated surveillance (AS) of surgical site infections (SSI) in hospitals and surveillance networks. It also provides an overview of the steps, choices, and obstacles that need to be taken into consideration when implementing such surveillance. Hands-on experience with existing automated surveillance systems of SSI (AS SSI systems) in Denmark, France, the Netherlands and Spain is described regarding trend monitoring, benchmarking, quality control, and research for surveillance purposes.

➢ Low back pain has a lifetime incidence of up to 84% and represents the leading cause of disability in the United States; 10% to 38% of cases can be attributed to sacroiliac joint (SIJ) dysfunction as an important pain generator.➢ Physical examination of the SIJ, including >1 provocation test (due to their moderate sensitivity and specificity) and examination of adjacent joints (hip and lumbar spine) should be routinely performed in all patients presenting with low back, gluteal, and posterior hip pain.➢ Radiographic investigations including radiographs, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging with protocols optimized for the visualization of the SIJs may facilitate the diagnosis of common pathologies.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is routinely investigated to diagnose subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH) in cases with unclear neuroimaging findings. Using spectrophotometry, the levels of bilirubin and oxyhaemoglobin are analysed. This study investigates the stability for bilirubin and oxyhaemoglobin in CSF samples for up to 3 weeks measured with a spectrophotometer.

Introduction: Fibroids are the most common benign uterine tumors. There are different possibilities for surgical approaches, and evaluating the cost of these operations is fundamental in modern surgery. The aim of our study is to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of robotic-assisted myomectomy (RAM) compared to open myomectomy (OM) in France.

With the increasing use of cardiac electronic implantable devices in recent years, the identification of asymptomatic atrial arrhythmias, including atrial high-rate episodes (AHREs) and device-detected subclinical atrial fibrillation (SCAF), has become common in clinical practice. AHREs have potentially important clinical implications because they are considered precursors of atrial fibrillation (AF). Although to a lesser extent than clinical AF, both AHREs and device-detected SCAF are associated with thromboembolic events, however routine use of anticoagulants in these conditions is not recommended.

Background: We have previously reported that the gap junction protein connexin 43 (Cx43) was upregulated in chronic renal disease in humans and rodents and plays a crucial role in the progression of experimental nephropathy. In this study, we investigated its role after renal ischemia/reperfusion (rIR), which is a major mechanism of injury in acute renal injury (AKI) and renal transplant graft dysfunction.
Methods: Wild-type mice (WT) and mice in which Cx43 expression was genetically reduced by half (Cx43 ±) were unilaterally nephrectomized.
