September 2024

Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical immunology, Reference Centre of Autoimmune Systemic Rare Diseases of North and North-West of France (CeRAINO), Lille University, Inserm, University Hospital of Lille, Lille, France.

Because Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a rare disease, and due to the significant prognostic impact of early management, a diagnosis confirmed by a physician with experience in SLE is recommended, for example from an expert center. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, existing manifestations should be identified in particular, renal involvement by an assessment of proteinuria, disease activity and severity should be determined, potential complications anticipated, associated diseases searched for, and the patient's socioprofessional and family context noted. Therapeutic management of SLE includes patient education on recognizing symptoms, understanding disease progression as well as when they should seek medical advice.

The production, optimisation, physicochemical, and electroanalytical characterisation of a low-cost electrically conductive additive manufacturing filament made with recycled poly(lactic acid) (rPLA), castor oil, carbon black, and graphite (CB-G/PLA) is reported. Through optimising the carbon black and graphite loading, the best ratio for conductivity, low material cost, and printability was found to be 60% carbon black to 40% graphite. The maximum composition within the rPLA with 10 wt% castor oil was found to be an overall nanocarbon loading of 35 wt% which produced a price of less than £0.

Background: A growing number of centers worldwide are preserving testicular tissue (TT) of young boys at risk of fertility loss to preserve their fertility. Data in this regard are scarce and experience sharing is essential to the optimization of the process.

Objectives: This report of our 10-year activity of pediatric fertility preservation (FP) has the objective to (1) improve knowledge regarding the feasibility, acceptability, safety, and potential usefulness of the procedure; (2) analyze the impact of chemotherapy on spermatogonia in the cryopreserved TT.

June 2023

Sorbonne Paris North University, Inserm U1153, Inrae U1125, Cnam, Nutritional Epidemiology Research Team (EREN) Center of Research in Epidemiology and Statistics, University of Paris Cité, Bobigny, France.

Background: The main objective of this study was to assess the association between age and physical fitness and motor fitness components according to BMI levels, in men and women separately, and to test if this association is different between BMI levels.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was based on a pre-existing database from the DiagnoHealth battery, a French series of physical fitness and motor fitness tests designed by the Institut des Rencontres de la Forme (IRFO; Wattignies, France). Analyses were perfomed on 6830 women (65.

Université de Montréal, Montréal, Québec, Canada; CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center, Montréal, Quebec, Canada; Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Pediatrics, CHU Sainte-Justine University Hospital, Canada. Electronic address:

Aims: COVID-19 has led to unprecedented public health measures such as school and university closures across the world. While initial surveys show an increase in anxiety, we have little information on the subjective experience of adolescents and young adults (AYAs). The aims of this study were to understand the lived experience and needs of AYAs related to home confinement and preventive measures due to COVID-19.

Conservative management or cesarean hysterectomy for placenta accreta spectrum: the PACCRETA prospective study.

Am J Obstet Gynecol

June 2022

Obstetrical Perinatal and Paediatric Epidemiology Research Team, National Institute of Health and Medical Research, National Institute of Agronomic Research, Centre for Epidemiology and Statistics Sorbonne Paris Cité, Paris University, Paris, France; Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Trousseau Hospital, Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, Paris, France.

Background: Placenta accreta spectrum is a life-threatening condition that has increased dramatically in recent decades along with cesarean rates worldwide. Cesarean hysterectomy is widely practiced in women with placenta accreta spectrum; however, the maternal outcomes after cesarean hysterectomy have not been thoroughly compared with the maternal outcomes after alternative approaches, such as conservative management.

Objective: This study aimed to compare the severe maternal outcomes between women with placenta accreta spectrum treated with cesarean hysterectomy and those treated with conservative management (leaving the placenta in situ).

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how using home-based and wearable devices can help cystic fibrosis patients detect pulmonary exacerbations early, which is crucial for reducing respiratory damage.
  • It aims to evaluate the feasibility and user experience of a new management process involving education and monitoring systems, focusing on patient and care team interactions.
  • Participants included 36 patients aged 12 and older, who went through a three-phase intervention that included device use, personalized education programs, and regular clinical follow-ups to establish effective response plans for managing exacerbation signs.

Importance: People classified by a priori definitions as having metabolically healthy obesity have frequently been found to be at increased risk of mortality, compared with individuals with metabolically healthy normal weight, suggesting these definitions may be insufficient.

Objectives: To systematically derive a new definition of metabolic health (MH) and investigate its association with cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality and total mortality.

Design, Setting, And Participants: In a cohort study using data from the third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES-III), a representative survey using complex multistage probability sampling, anthropometric factors, biomarkers, and blood pressure (BP) associated with total and CVD mortality among participants with obesity were identified with Cox proportional hazards regression.

Estimated dietary exposure to pesticide residues based on organic and conventional data in omnivores, pesco-vegetarians, vegetarians and vegans.

Food Chem Toxicol

July 2021

Sorbonne Paris North University, Inserm, Inrae, Cnam, Nutritional Epidemiology Research Team (EREN), Epidemiology and Statistics Research Centre, University of Paris (CRESS), Bobigny, France.

Purpose: To examine dietary exposure to 25 pesticide residues in several diet groups including omnivores, pesco-vegetarians, vegetarians and vegans while accounting for the farming system (organic or conventional) of plant-based foods consumed.

Methods: Organic and conventional consumption data in combination with data on pesticide residues in plant-based foods were used to derive estimated dietary exposure to pesticide residues. Pesticide residue exposure was estimated based on observed data, and using two scenarios simulated for 100%-conventional and 100%-organic diets in 33,018 omnivores, 555 pesco-vegetarians, 501 vegetarians and 368 vegans from the NutriNet-Santé study.
