The pursuit of assessing fetal well-being in obstetrical practice remains a central tenet, propelling ongoing endeavors to explore innovative markers and diagnostic methodologies aimed at prognosing potential perinatal adversities. Deviations from standard patterns of intrauterine growth, whether exhibiting excessive or insufficient trajectories, stand as pivotal indices hinting at underlying pathophysiological processes or heightened concurrent medical conditions. Initiatives like the Delphi consensus and the INTERGROWTH-21st project strive to refine diagnostic criteria and establish international standards for fetal growth assessment.

Objective: The postsynaptic density protein of excitatory neurons PSD-95 is encoded by discs large MAGUK scaffold protein 4 (DLG4), de novo pathogenic variants of which lead to DLG4-related synaptopathy. The major clinical features are developmental delay, intellectual disability (ID), hypotonia, sleep disturbances, movement disorders, and epilepsy. Even though epilepsy is present in 50% of the individuals, it has not been investigated in detail.

Problem: In Poland, as in other high-income countries, the rate of caesarean sections (CS) is alarmingly high. Promoting vaginal birth after caesarean section (VBAC) is one of the ways that may help to decrease CS rate. Despite the recommendations by the Polish Association of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians that one previous CS should not be an indication for a subsequent one and VBAC should be promoted, the rate of VBAC in Poland remains low.

The identification of immune cell profiles (ICP) involved in anti-tumor immunity is crucial for immunotherapy. Therefore, we herein investigated cholangiocarcinoma patients (CCA) who received adoptive T-cell immunotherapy (ATI). Eighteen unresectable or recurrent CCA received ATI of αβ T cells alone or combined with chemotherapy.

Kampo medicines are Japanese traditional medicines developed from Chinese traditional medicines. The action mechanisms of the numerous known compounds have been studied for approximately 100 years; however, many remain unclear. While components are normally affected through digestion, absorption, and metabolism, in vitro oral, esophageal, and gastric epithelial cell models avoid these influences and, thus, represent superior assay systems for Kampo medicines.

Anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease has one of the worst prognoses of nephritis and is rarely associated with other forms of glomerulonephritis. In this report, we present the case of a 76-year-old man who developed anti-GBM disease four months after being diagnosed with IgA nephropathy (IgAN). To our knowledge, although there have been several reports of IgAN combined with anti-GBM disease, there have been no cases in which we were able to confirm that the anti-GBM antibody titer changed from negative to positive over the disease course.

Aims: In Japan, the use of comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) is only available for cancer patients who have no standard of care (SoC), or those who have completed SoC. This may lead to missed treatment opportunities for patients with druggable alterations. In this study, we evaluated the potential impact of CGP testing before SoC on medical costs and clinical outcome in untreated patients with advanced or recurrent biliary tract cancer (BTC), non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSQ-NSCLC), or colorectal cancer (CRC) in Japan between 2022 and 2026.

Background: Endoscopic gastroduodenal stent (GDS) placement is widely used as a safe and effective method to rapidly improve gastrointestinal symptoms of malignant gastric outlet obstruction (MGOO). While previous studies reported the utility of chemotherapy after GDS placement for prognosis improvement, they did not fully address the issue of immortal time bias.
Objectives: To examine the association between prognosis and clinical course following endoscopic GDS placement, using a time-dependent analysis.

Life satisfaction is increasingly important for older cancer survivors as the global population ages and the life expectancy 29 of cancer survivors increases. This study sought to identify factors associated with physical symptoms, quality of life under treatment, and current life satisfaction in cancer survivors aged 75 years and older receiving outpatient chemotherapy. Information about treatment for cancer survivors was collected from electronic medical records, and interviews were conducted to assess life satisfaction under treatment.

Background: Palmer type 1B triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) tears are a common cause of distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) instability. Unfortunately, the best surgical technique for TFCC reinsertion is still unknown, and up to a quarter of patients report instability after repair. The purpose of this systematic review of cadaver studies was to compare the biomechanical outcomes of different surgical techniques used for Palmer 1B TFCC tears.

Background/aim: Papillary Thyroid Cancer (PTC) is the most common type of endocrine malignancy. Although PTC has an excellent prognosis, the recurrent or metastatic disease could affect patients' survival. Recent studies show that Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors (HDACIs) might be promising anticancer agents against PTC.

Pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence affect approximately 6-11% and 6-40% of women, respectively. These pathologies could result from a weakness of pelvic floor muscles (PFM) caused by previous deliveries, aging or surgery. It seems reasonable that improving PFM efficacy should positively impact both pelvic floor therapy and surgical outcomes.
