To explore the incidence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in a cohort aged 40 years and above in Songjiang District, Shanghai, and to analyze the association of Mediterranean diet pattern and dietary approaches in stopping hypertension pattern (DASH) with the risk of developing COPD. Based on a natural population cohort in Songjiang District, Shanghai, 27 474 adults aged 40 years and above who did not have COPD at baseline were enrolled in the study. The Cox proportional risk regression model was used to analyze the association of baseline Mediterranean diet pattern score and DASH score with the risk of COPD, and the hazard ratio () of the risk and its 95% were calculated.

Hyperuricemia, a major worldwide burden on public hygiene, is closely connected with dietary habits. However, few studies have evaluated the association of dietary diversity with hyperuricemia. To preliminarily reveal the status of a diversified diet in preventing hyperuricemia based on a neighborhood-based, massive-scale cohort in China, a total of 43,493 participants aged 20-74 years old, with no history of hyperuricemia at baseline, were enrolled in the research from April 2016 to December 2019.

The main objective of this study was to analyze dietary patterns using data-driven approaches and to explore preventive or risk dietary factors for kidney stone disease (KSD). A case-control matching study was conducted in adults ( = 6396) from a suburb of Shanghai. A food frequency questionnaire was used to assess the consumption of various types of food, and B-ultrasound was used to identify kidney stones.

Background: With improved tuberculosis (TB) control programs, the incidence of TB in China declined dramatically over the past few decades, but recently the rate of decrease has slowed, especially in large cities such as Shanghai. To help formulate strategies to further reduce TB incidence, we performed a 10-year study in Songjiang, a district of Shanghai, to delineate the characteristics, transmission patterns, and dynamic changes of the local TB burden.
Methods: We conducted a population-based study of culture-positive pulmonary TB patients diagnosed in Songjiang during 2011-2020.

The purpose of this research was to evaluate the lipid accumulation product (LAP)'s accuracy and predictive value for identifying metabolic syndrome (MS) in the general Chinese population compared with other obesity indicators. Baseline survey information from a population-based cohort study carried out in Shanghai's Songjiang District was used in this research. Odds ratios (OR) and a 95% confidence interval (CI) were obtained by logistic regression.

To explore the combination of metabolism-related chronic diseases associated with the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in community residents in Shanghai. The baseline data of Shanghai Suburban Adult Cohort and Biobank were used to understand the prevalence of five metabolism-related chronic diseases, including obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, gout and diabetes, based on questionnaire survey, physical examination and blood biochemical detection. NAFLD was diagnosed by B-ultrasound detection and questionnaire.

To analyze the relationship between sedentary behavior and the force expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV) reduction in middle-aged and elderly people in communities. The participants aged ≥40 years were randomly selected from a natural population cohort in Songjiang District, Shanghai, for pulmonary function tests and survey by using international physical activity questionnaire, a generalized additive model was used to analyze the association between sedentary behavior and FEV reduction in the study population and different sex-age subgroups. A total of 3 121 study subjects aged ≥40 years were included.

The fitness of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is thought to be an important determinant of a strain's ability to be transmitted. Studies in the laboratory have demonstrated that MDR-TB strains have reduced fitness but the relative transmissibility of MDR-TB versus drug-susceptible (DS) TB strains in human populations remains unresolved. We used data on genomic clustering from our previous molecular epidemiological study in Songjiang (2011-2020) and Wusheng (2009-2020), China, to compare the relative transmissibility of MDR-TB versus DS-TB.

Objectives: Tuberculosis (TB) contact investigation is an effective strategy for TB control. We established a close-contact cohort to evaluate the effect of contact investigation in Shanghai, China.
Methods: Close contacts of bacteria-positive TB cases diagnosed from 2009 to 2018 in the Songjiang District of Shanghai were screened and followed up until 2021 through symptom examination or other alternatives, and the incidence and risk factors for developing active TB among close contacts were assessed by survival analysis and WGS.

There have been few prospective studies on the association between serum uric acid (SUA) and the risk of diabetes in women, and there have been few large-scale Chinese studies based on menopause to investigate the association. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the above relationship in Chinese female adults without diabetes. Methods: Data from 5743 premenopausal women and 11,287 postmenopausal women aged 20−74 years were obtained from the Shanghai Suburban Adult Cohort and Biobank (SSACB) study conducted in China.

Present studies on the association of fish consumption with risk of stroke have shown controversial results, and this association within the Chinese population remains unknown. We aimed to investigate the association between fish consumption and incidence of total stroke, ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke among adults in China. We analyzed the data of 57,701 adults aged 20-74 years, with no history of stroke, in a prospective cohort study in Shanghai.
