Akkermansia muciniphila, a member of the Verrucomicrobiota phylum, is recognized as a key gut microbe and has emerged as a potential next-generation probiotic. Assessment of antibiotic resistance in probiotics is a prerequisite for their application, while very few is studied in Akkermansia species. To address this, eight representative class A β-lactamases (36.

The ecological risks of nonylphenol (NP) and tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) have received continued attention owing to their large consumption, frequently detection, adverse effects on the reproductive fitness, and lack of risk assessment technical systems. The geometric mean of the median concentrations of NP in the 22 surface waters was 0.278 μg/L, and TBBPA in the seven surface waters was 0.

The promulgation and implementation of the national and Beijing municipal standards for air pollutants emitted from crematoriums has effectively alleviated the problem of "black smoke" in crematoriums, but noticeable odor in crematoriums remains. We determined the level of odor emissions in crematoriums by monitoring the odor concentrations of cremators, incinerators, and cremation workshops in five crematoriums in Beijing. Subsequently, we analyzed the major contributing factors to the odor level and proposed control measures.

Perchlorate is a refractory and mobile contaminant that is wildly distributed in surface water, and due to its tremendous inhibitory effect on mammalian thyroid function, it has gained much attention in recent years. Numerous studies have focused on environmental detection of perchlorate, especially in water. However, less attention has been paid to the effects of perchlorate on the composition of the microbial community in rivers.

Drug production consumes a large amount of raw materials and is recognized as a "high-pollution, high-energy-consumption" industry. In consideration of the small amount of emission inventory research in the pharmaceutical industry, firstly, based on the actual monitoring data and production information of typical antibiotic enterprises, the emission factors of various volatile organic compounds (VOCs) were determined using the field measurement method. Then, combined with the activity level information of antibiotics from A to G plant in the same park, the emission factor method was used to calculate and obtain the emissions of each plant, and an emission list was established.

In this study, a halotolerant strain was isolated from high salinity leachate and identified as Bacillus cereus NT-3. It can produce a high concentration of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) with no significant changes when NaCl concentration is up to 50 g/L. FTIR and NMR spectra of PHAs synthesized by Bacillus cereus NT-3 were similar to the standard or previous results.

Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a mycotoxin ubiquitous in feeds and foodstuffs. The water-insoluble pentacyclic triterpene bioactive compound, ursolic acid (UA), is widespread in various cuticular waxes of edible fruits, food materials, and medicinal plants. Although studies have reported that oxidative stress was involved in both the nephrotoxicity of OTA and the renoprotective function of UA, the role of stress-responsive Lon protease 1 (Lonp1) in the renoprotection of UA against OTA is still unknown.

Polluted land is a global issue, especially for developing countries. It has been reported that soil amendment with biochar may reduce the bioavailability of a wide range of contaminants, including heavy metal(loids), potentially reclaiming contaminated soils for agricultural use. However, there have been only limited reports on the in situ application of biochar at the field scale.

During the 50 years since the concept of urban metabolism was proposed, this field of research has evolved slowly. On the basis of an analogy with an organism's metabolism, the concept of urban metabolism has become an effective method to evaluate the flows of energy and materials within an urban system, thereby providing insights into the system's sustainability and the severity of urban problems such as excessive social, community, and household metabolism at scales ranging from global to local. Researchers have improved this approach, evolving from models of linear to cyclic processes and then to network models.
