Purpose: The ESPAC4 trial showed that adjuvant chemotherapy with gemcitabine plus capecitabine (GemCap) produced longer overall survival (OS) than gemcitabine monotherapy. Subsequently, the PRODIGE24-CCTG PA.6 trial showed even longer survival for modified fluorouracil, folinic acid, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin (mFOLFIRINOX) than gemcitabine but had more restrictive eligibility criteria.

Background: Pregnancies with reduced fetal movements (RFM) are at risk for poor neonatal outcomes and stillbirth.
Aim: To investigate whether Doppler measurements or angiogenic factors are good predictors of adverse neonatal outcomes in pregnancies with RFM.
Methods: This is a prospective pilot cohort study of 3243 women seeking care for RFM.

(1) Background: The field of medicine requires simple cooling materials. However, there is little knowledge documented about phase change materials (PCM) covering the range of 28 to 40 degrees Celsius, as needed for medical use. Induced mild hypothermia, started within 6 h after birth, is an emerging therapy for reducing death and severe disabilities in asphyxiated infants.

Even today, hundreds of thousands of women die or suffer high levels of morbidity associated with childbirth. One of the most common causes is halted labor progress, or labor dystocia. There have been no developments in the diagnosis or treatment of dystocic deliveries since Friedman designed the Partogram in the 1950s.

Aim: To evaluate the prognostic value of tumor markers in a European cohort of patients with resectable gastric cancer.
Methods: We performed a post hoc analysis of the CRITICS trial, in which 788 patients received perioperative therapy. Association between survival and pretreatment CEA, CA 19-9, alkaline phosphatase, neutrophils, hemoglobin and lactate dehydrogenase were explored in uni- and multivariable Cox regression analyses.

Introduction: Obesity is a globally growing problem. Labor dystocia is associated with obstetric complications, especially among obese pregnant women. Previous studies have shown an association between the level of lactate produced by uterine myocytes during contractions and the level of lactate in the amniotic fluid (AFL).

Gastric cancer (GC) patients at high risk of developing peritoneal metastasis (PM) as a single site of metastasis after curative treatment may be candidates for adjuvant prophylactic strategies. Here we investigated risk factors for metachronous isolated PM in patients who were treated in the CRITICS trial (NCT00407186). Univariable and multivariable analyses on both metachronous isolated PM and 'other events', i.

Aims: Type 1 diabetes (DM1) during pregnancy and labor is associated with an increased risk of maternal and fetal complications. Evidence-based care is therefore provided in accordance with guidelines. In this study, we aimed to compare all the Swedish guidelines for DM1 during pregnancy and labor in terms of the variables emphasized in the national guidelines from the US and from England and Wales.

Objective: Determination of lactate in fetal scalp blood (FBS) during labour has been recognised since the 1970s. The internationally accepted cutoff of >4.8 mmol/l indicating fetal acidosis is exclusive for the point-of-care device (POC) LactatePro™, which is no longer in production.

Introduction: Assessment interprofessional collaboration (IPC), in community health-care setting usually has been neglected due to the lack of standard tools and assessors. In the present study, the IPC checklist extracted from CANMEDS collaborator toolkit for teaching and assessing the collaborator role is contextualized in Iranian community healthcare.
Materials And Methods: According to CANMEDS Toolkit, an instrument extracted for IPC assessment.

Aim: To evaluate treatment-related toxicity, treatment compliance, surgical complications and event-free survival (EFS) in older (≥70 years) versus younger (<70 years) adults who underwent perioperative treatment for gastric cancer.
Methods: In the CRITICS trial, 788 patients with resectable gastric cancer were randomised before start of any treatment and received preoperative chemotherapy (3 cycles of epirubicin, cisplatin or oxaliplatin and capecitabine), followed by surgery, followed by either postoperative chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy (45Gy + cisplatin + capecitabine).
Results: 172 (22%) patients were older adults.

Introduction: The incidence of Swedish stillbirths has varied little in the past 40 years, with a reported frequency of 400-450 stillbirths/y (approximately 4‰), despite increased information about fetal movement in the media and awareness among healthcare providers. The objectives of this project were to describe the outcome of pregnancies with reduced fetal movement in a Swedish context and to investigate factors associated with poor neonatal outcome in this group.
Material And Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed at Soder Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden.

Erysipelas and cellulitis are usually caused by betahaemolytic streptococci but the aetiology is often difficult to verify in clinical practice. Patients with erysipelas or cellulitis were analysed for betahaemolytic streptococci in samples from multiple body sites, including the perineum and the anal canal, during the acute episode and at follow up. Healthy control persons were sampled from the same sites.

Problem: Delayed labour progress is common in nulliparous women, often leading to caesarean section despite augmentation of labour with synthetic oxytocin.
Background: High- or low-dose oxytocin can be used for augmentation of delayed labour, but evidence for promoting high-dose is weak. Aim To ascertain the effect on caesarean section rate of high-dose versus low-dose oxytocin for augmentation of delayed labour in nulliparous women.

Objective: Measurement of fetal scalp blood lactate is a supplementary tool to cardiotocography in the case of a non-reassuring tracing. Several hand-held lactate meters have been launched, all with differentials in absolute values. Therefore, the reference intervals must be calculated for each device.

Objective: The objective of this study is to describe the process of training valid simulated patients (SPs) for assessing communication and counseling skills of pharmacy students' performance.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional and correlational study. Psychometric properties of checklist and SPs' portrayals and their filling of the checklist regarding assessing pharmacy students were assessed.
Background: One of the major complications related to delivery is labor dystocia, or an arrested labor progress. Many dystocic deliveries end vaginally after administration of oxytocin, but a large numbers of women with labor dystocia will undergo a long and unsafe parturition. As a result of the exertion required in labor, the uterus produces lactate.
