Purpose: The ESPAC4 trial showed that adjuvant chemotherapy with gemcitabine plus capecitabine (GemCap) produced longer overall survival (OS) than gemcitabine monotherapy. Subsequently, the PRODIGE24-CCTG PA.6 trial showed even longer survival for modified fluorouracil, folinic acid, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin (mFOLFIRINOX) than gemcitabine but had more restrictive eligibility criteria.

Objectives: To benchmark current trends on anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) surgery.

Methods: The largest worldwide ACLR survey to date was performed during May 2020, targeted to reach representation of all continents. It was submitted electronically to all International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports surgeons (n = 3,026), asking those who perform ACLR to respond.

Older versus younger adults with gastric cancer receiving perioperative treatment: Results from the CRITICS trial.

Aim: To evaluate treatment-related toxicity, treatment compliance, surgical complications and event-free survival (EFS) in older (≥70 years) versus younger (<70 years) adults who underwent perioperative treatment for gastric cancer.

Methods: In the CRITICS trial, 788 patients with resectable gastric cancer were randomised before start of any treatment and received preoperative chemotherapy (3 cycles of epirubicin, cisplatin or oxaliplatin and capecitabine), followed by surgery, followed by either postoperative chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy (45Gy + cisplatin + capecitabine).

Results: 172 (22%) patients were older adults.

Frequent colonization of betahaemolytic streptococci at various body sites including the perineum and anal canal during erysipelas and cellulitis.

Erysipelas and cellulitis are usually caused by betahaemolytic streptococci but the aetiology is often difficult to verify in clinical practice. Patients with erysipelas or cellulitis were analysed for betahaemolytic streptococci in samples from multiple body sites, including the perineum and the anal canal, during the acute episode and at follow up. Healthy control persons were sampled from the same sites.

High-dose versus low-dose of oxytocin for labour augmentation: a randomised controlled trial.

Problem: Delayed labour progress is common in nulliparous women, often leading to caesarean section despite augmentation of labour with synthetic oxytocin.

Background: High- or low-dose oxytocin can be used for augmentation of delayed labour, but evidence for promoting high-dose is weak. Aim To ascertain the effect on caesarean section rate of high-dose versus low-dose oxytocin for augmentation of delayed labour in nulliparous women.

Background: Reduced bone mineral density (BMD) together with muscle wasting and dysfunction, that is sarcopenia, emerges as a risk factor for hip fracture. The aim of this study was to examine body composition and BMD and their relationship with trauma mechanisms in young and middle-aged patients with femoral neck fracture.

Materials And Methods: Altogether, 185 patients with femoral neck fracture aged 20-69 were included.
