Pesticide exposure and sleep disorder: A cross-sectional study among Thai farmers.

Pesticide exposure might be an important risk factor for sleep disorders, however current epidemiological evidence is limited. The main objective of this study was to determine the association between historical use of pesticides and sleep disorders. Data on the historical use of 38 individual pesticides of almost thirty thousand Thai farmers were collected using questionnaire method.

Association between daytime sleepiness and quality of life in outpatients with schizophrenia.

This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of daytime sleepiness (DS) and its impact on quality of life (QOL) in outpatients with schizophrenia in the maintenance phase, as well as to identify the factors associated with DS. A total of 191 outpatients with schizophrenia completed a self-administered questionnaire including questions on lifestyle, sleep habits, DS, QOL, and sleep disorders. Insomnia, DS, and QOL were evaluated by the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS), the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), and the MOS 8-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-8), respectively.

Effects of an intervention combining physical activity and components of Amygdala and Insula Retraining (AIR) on sleep and working memory among older male adults.

Background: Older individuals are at a particular risk of sleep disorders, a loss of cognitive and emotional control, and a poor quality of life. Pharmaceutical therapy for these conditions is commonplace but has not been particularly effective, and relatively little research exists for their treatment using non-pharmacological approaches. Effect of General Anesthesia Combined with Transversus Abdominis Plane Block on Postoperative Sleep Disorders in Elderly Patients Undergoing Gastrointestinal Tumor Surgery: A Prospective, Randomized Controlled Trial.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of general anesthesia combined with transversus abdominis plane block on postoperative sleep disorders in elderly patients undergoing gastrointestinal tumor surgery.

Methods: For elderly patients with gastrointestinal malignant tumors, we recruited 94 patients, aged 65-80, who were scheduled for radical laparoscopic surgery. Using the random number table method, the patients were randomly divided into two groups, the general anesthesia group (group GA) and the general anesthesia combined with transversus abdominis plane block group (group GT).

The Role of Mindfulness Decompression Therapy in Managing Acute Stress Disorder in Traumatic Fracture Patients.

Background: Traumatic fractures are common orthopedic injuries with higher incidence globally, leading to acute stress disorder (ASD). Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the clinical outcomes of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) therapy in patients with traumatic bone fractures suffering from ASD.

Methods: This study included 135 patients who underwent trauma and fracture treatment at The 305th Hospital of the PLA between August 2021 and August 2023.

Psychological Status and its Influencing Factors of Staff in a District of Shenzhen: A Retrospective Study.

Background: Anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders, as psychological and emotional diseases, have serious impact on people's physical and mental health, and receive increasing academic attention. This study aimed to examine anxiety, depression, and sleep disorder of staff in a district of Shenzhen and to provide the basis for the development of targeted intervention measures to improve the psychological status of cadres.

Methods: Based on the psychological evaluation data of staff cadres in a district of Shenzhen City obtained from January to December 2020, a stratified sampling method was adopted to randomly select two streets and three communities in each street.

Background: Endometriosis often causes chronic pain and fertility issues, exacerbating the risk of depression and complicating conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, which further impacts quality of life. This study aimed to explore the detection rate of depression in patients with endometriosis and rheumatoid arthritis by using different diagnostic criteria, and to analyze the occurrence and influencing factors.

Method: A total of 108 patients with endometriosis combined with rheumatoid arthritis in the First Hospital of Lanzhou University from July 2021 to July 2023 were selected as samples.

Background: Individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) often experience symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and decreased sleep quality. Although these are not diagnostic criteria, they may increase dependence risk and complicate treatment. Orofacial migraine (OFM) and neurovascular orofacial pain (NVOP) are both recognized as migraine-related entities affecting the facial and orofacial regions, according to the International Classification of Orofacial Pain (ICOP). However, the distinction between these two conditions and the question of whether NVOP should be considered a separate entity remain subjects of ongoing debate. Translating and culturally adapting the sleep disturbance scale for children into Malayalam language: Enhancing pediatric health in the Indian context.

Purpose: The sleep disturbance scale for children (SDSC) is a well-regarded tool for assessing pediatric sleep disorders, covering areas such as sleep initiation, breathing issues, and arousal disorders. The SDSC, known for its reliability and validity, has been adapted for various age groups and languages and aligns with the Association of Sleep Disorders Centers classification system. This study aimed to translate and culturally adapt the SDSC into Malayalam language for use in Kerala, conducting a test with parents from the Trivandrum district.
