Research has shown that individuals with psychiatric disorders such as bipolar disorder (BD) and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have a higher likelihood of violent behavior. This study investigated the frequency of comorbid BD and ADHD in adultpatients and the relationship between this comorbidity and violent behavior. We assessed 105 remitted patients diagnosed with BD I (n = 91) or BD II (n = 14).

Automated LVO detection and collateral scoring on CTA using a 3D self-configuring object detection network: a multi-center study.

The use of deep learning (DL) techniques for automated diagnosis of large vessel occlusion (LVO) and collateral scoring on computed tomography angiography (CTA) is gaining attention. In this study, a state-of-the-art self-configuring object detection network called nnDetection was used to detect LVO and assess collateralization on CTA scans using a multi-task 3D object detection approach. The model was trained on single-phase CTA scans of 2425 patients at five centers, and its performance was evaluated on an external test set of 345 patients from another center.

Clinical characteristics of patients requiring lung transplantation referral in national cystic fibrosis registry data.

Background: We aimed to determine the number of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients recorded in the Cystic Fibrosis Registry of Türkiye (CFRT) who were in need of lung transplantation (LT) referral and examine clinical differences between patients who were LT candidates due to rapid forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV₁) decline and LT candidates without rapid FEV₁ decline in the last year to identify a preventable cause in patients with such rapid FEV₁ decline.

Methods: All CF patients recorded in the CFRT in 2018 were evaluated in terms of LT. Patients were divided into those with FEV₁ below 50% and in need of LT due to a decrease of 20% or more in the previous year (Group 1) and those who did not have FEV₁ decline of more than 20% in the previous year but had other indications for LT (Group 2).

Improving Risk Stratification of Patients With Chest Pain in the Emergency Department.

Objective: The HEARTS3 score is used to predict acute coronary syndrome by evaluating the findings of chest pain patients at the end of the second hour. Additionally, the American College of Cardiology (ACC)/American Heart Association (AHA) 2014 non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) management guideline suggests assessing cardiac troponin levels at the third and sixth hours as a class 1A recommendation. This study aimed to explore the value of the HEARTS3 score for the evaluation of patients with chest pain and its utility for determining whether a patient is eligible for early discharge from the emergency department.

Traditional versus magnetically controlled growing rods in early onset scoliosis surgical treatment.

Purpose: Growing rod surgeries are common methods in the treatment of early onset scoliosis. Magnetic growing rod (MGR) surgery, in particular, has become more widespread in the last 10 years. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of traditional and magnetically controlled growing rod techniques on efficacy, safety, spinal growth, and lung development.

The Evaluation Of Smoking Cessation Treatment Success and Related Factors in Adults Age 65 Years and Older.

Objectives: The aim was to evaluate smoking cessation treatment success and factors associated in older adults.

Methods: In the retrospective cohort study, the patients' sociodemographic data, smoking history, Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence scores (FTND), type of treatments (Pharmacological treatments, behavioral counseling, and/or both) and the number of follow-up sessions in the Smoking Cessation Outpatient Clinic were taken from hospital files of the patients. Treatment success was evaluated as one year of abstinence from smoking.

Effectiveness and safety of elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate single-tablet combination among HIV-infected patients in Turkey: results from a real world setting.

Background: Efficacy of elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil (E/C/F/TDF) in treatment-naïve and experienced patients with HIV infection was demonstrated in phase 3 trials. The primary objective of this study was to evaluate effectiveness and safety of E/C/F/TDF in real world settings.

Methods: Retrospective, observational data collected by the Turkish ACTHIV-IST study group between May 2015 and December 2016 were analysed.

Background: We aim to compare the diameters of ascending aorta in COVID-19 patients and COVID-19-free individuals referred to our pandemic hospital.

Methods: The medical records and thorax tomographies of patients admitted to the "pandemic central" state hospital with symptoms of COVID-19 were observed between April 2020 and May 2020 in this case-control study. The first group consisted of patients diagnosed with COVID-19, and the second group consisted of patients without the disease.

Clinical significance of prenatally diagnosed persistent left superior vena cava.

Aims: The aim of our study was to investigate the persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) cases diagnosed in the prenatal period in our clinic and to compare the obstetric and genetic outcomes of isolated PLSVC cases with cases accompanied by other cardiac or extracardiac anomalies.

Methods: The cases diagnosed as PLSVC between January 2015 and January 2019 in our perinatology clinic were evaluated retrospectively. Patients were divided into two subgroups as isolated PLSVC and PLSVC accompanied by another anomaly.

The success of the Cystic Fibrosis Registry of Turkey for improvement of patient care.

Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) registries play an essential role in improving disease outcomes of people with CF. This study aimed to evaluate the association of newly established CF registry system in Turkey on follow-up, clinical, growth, treatment, and complications of people with this disease.

Methods: Age at diagnosis, current age, sex, z-scores of weight, height and body mass index (BMI), neonatal screening results, pulmonary function tests, history of meconium ileus, medications, presence of microorganisms, and follow-up were evaluated and compared to data of people with CF represented in both 2017 and 2019 registry data.

Does It Matter the Fixation Method of The Posterior Malleolar Fragment in Trimalleolar Fractures?

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The purpose of this study was to evaluate if the fixation method of a posterior fragment in trimalleolar ankle fractures affects the surgical outcomes. MATERIAL AND METHODS A retrospective evaluation was made of all the cases of trimalleolar fractures over a 9-year period in a trauma center. Patients aged 18 - 70 years were enrolled in the study.

Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a lethal recessive genetic disease caused by loss of function associated with mutations in the CF trans-membrane conductance regulator. It is highly prevalent (approximately 1 in 3,500) in Caucasians. The aim of this study was to compare demographic and clinical features, diagnostic tests, treatments, and complications of patients with CF whose newborn screening (NBS) with twice-repeated immune reactive trypsinogen testing was positive, normal, and not performed.

[The Importance of Mycological Diagnosis: A Scedosporium apiospermum Complex Mycetoma Case Neglected For 20 Years].

Scedosporium apiospermum complex members are opportunistic fungi that can be found in environments such as soil and polluted water. In this report, we aimed to present a case of mycetoma caused by Scedosporium apiospermum complex that developed in a 40-year-old female patient with immunocompetent system and diagnosed by fungal culture. In the anamnesis of the patient who admitted in 2015 with the complaint of more than one fistulized discharge wound, pain and swelling in the dorsal of the right hand and wrist; it was learned that her complaints started about 20 years ago with a slight swelling on the back of the wrist, and when it worsened, the abscess was drained and antibiotic treatment was initiated in a private surgical center.

Management of LDL-cholesterol levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus in Cardiology Practice: Real-life evidence of Under-treatment from the EPHESUS registry.

Background And Aims: Effective treatment of high low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels has been shown to improve cardiovascular outcomes of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Herein, we aimed to provide insight to the real-life management of patients with DM in terms of LDL-C goal attainment and adherence to lipid management recommendations. Methods: Fifty nine COVID-19 patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU) and wards in our hospital between March and June 2020 and 19 healthy volunteers were included in the study.

Can Hounsfield Unit Density Accurately Predict Recurrent Cholestatoma in Previously Operated Ears?
