Primary pancreatic hydatid disease: A rare presentation of echinococcosis.

Hydatid disease is a zoonotic parasitic disease which rarely involves pancreas primarily. Diagnosis of pancreatic hydatid cyst is a challenge and operative skills are important to avoid spillage of cyst's content. A 19-year-old male patient was admitted to hospital with recurrent abdominal pain which was on epigastrium and left upper quadrant of abdomen.

Background: The course of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) can be influenced by infections, depression, and stress.

Objective: Our aim was to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the course of refractory CSU together with patient adherence to omalizumab and treatment adjustments.

Situs inversus totalis (SIT) is a rare disorder defined as symmetrical transposition of thoracic and abdominal organs. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is a routine surgical operation and gold standard for symptomatic gallstones. LC can be challenging in SIT due to patient positioning on the operating table and the surgeon's operating position, especially for right-handed surgeons.

Solitary caecal diverticulitis: Comparison of operative and non operative treatment.

Objective: To evaluate the treatment options applied to solitary caecal diverticulitis patients, and to explore the possibility of non-operative treatments.

Methods: The retrospective study was conducted a tertiary referral centre, and comprised data of patients who presented with acute abdominal pain and were diagnosed either preoperatively or intraoperatively as cases of solitary caecal diverticulitis between January 2009 and December 2017. Data on demographics, physical examination findings, laboratory results, treatment modalities and outpatient clinical records was noted, and analysed analysed using SPSS 21.

Background: Post-traumatic hydrocephalus (PTH) is one of the primary complications during the course of traumatic brain injury (TBI). The aim of this study was to define factors associated with the development of PTH in patients who underwent unilateral decompressive craniectomy (DC) for TBI.

Methods: A total of 126 patients, who met the inclusion criteria of the study, were divided into two groups: patients with PTH (n = 25) and patients without PTH (n = 101).

A switchable solvent based liquid phase microextraction (SS-LPME) has been proposed for the determination of cobalt in egg yolk and Vitamin B12 at trace levels. N,N-Dimethylbenzylamide (DMBA) was used as a switchable solvent and converted to protonated DMBA form by the addition of dry ice. Cobalt was complexed with 1,5-diphenylcarbazone (DPC) and extracted into the DMBA phase.

A Case Report of a 4-Year-Old Boy with Intradural Spinal Cord Abscess Successfully Treated with Adjuvant Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

Intradural spinal cord abscesses are rare infections in early childhood and usually result from pre-existing congenital anomalies of the spinal column. The formation of abscess may be the result of hematogenous spread. It is treated by surgical and parenteral antibiotic treatment, but some special cases may require additional treatments.

Changes in primary care provision in Turkey: A comparison of 1993 and 2012.

Since the early 1990s, the primary care system in Turkey has undergone fundamental changes. In the first decade of the millennium family doctor scheme was introduced to the Turkish primary care sector and the name of the primary care doctors (PCDs) changed from "general practitioner" (GP) to "family doctor" (FD). This study aims to give an insight into those changes and to compare the service profiles of PCDs in 1993 and 2012.

Factors that Affect Postoperative Hydrocephalus Development in Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: A Clinical Study.

Aim: Factors affecting the development of postoperative hydrocephalus patients who underwent surgery after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage were retrospectively assessed.

Material And Methods: 201 cases, who underwent aneurysm surgery in our clinic after subarachnoid hemorrhage between 2008 and 2013, were retrospectively assessed. Twenty-one cases with hydrocephalus development were retrospectively examined according to their age, gender, history (hypertension, alcohol, and smoking), blood type, the number and size of aneurysms, aneurysm localization, the presence of ventricular hemorrhage, baseline-final neurological diagnosis, Fisher grading system, history of vasospasm and meningitis.
