Amiodarone can be used in a variety of arrhythmias. Given its widespread use, the probability of clinicians encountering its cutaneous adverse effects is high. A few cases of amiodarone-induced cutaneous vasculitis were reported in the literature, probably because it is underdiagnosed in clinical practice.

Early availability of pathogen identification in bloodstream infections has critical importance in patients' management. This study investigated the accuracy and feasibility of the direct rapid identification (RID) method from positive blood cultures (BCs) by MALDI-TOF MS and its impact on the turnaround time (TAT) compared to the short-term incubation routine identification (SIRID) method. Pellets prepared from 328 BCs using a serum separator tube in the RID method and colonies on agar plates in the SIRID method were identified with MALDI Biotyper.

Background: Lichen simplex chronicus is a dermatological condition due to excessive scratching, with few studies on psychoneuroimmunology.
Objective: We aimed to estimate the levels of stress, depression, and anxiety, and to measure serum levels of neurotrophins in patients with lichen simplex chronicus, and to correlate these parameters with the severity of the disease and pruritus.
Methods: Thirty-six patients with lichen simplex chronicus and 36 age- and sex-matched healthy controls were included.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate apelin-13 levels, total oxidant/antioxidant status in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and to investigate the relationship between these parameters.
Methods: Patients newly diagnosed with AD were enrolled in the study. The control group consisted of age- and gender-matched healthy individuals.

Objective: Although the age at diagnosis has been suggested as a major determinant of disease-specific survival in the recent TNM staging system, it is not included in the recent American Thyroid Association (ATA) guidelines to estimate the risk of recurrence. Nevertheless, the effect of sex on differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) recurrence is controversial. Therefore, this multicenter study was conducted to assess whether age at diagnosis and sex can improve the performance of the ATA 3-tiered risk stratification system in patients with DTC with at least 5 years of follow-up.

Pathogenic variants in the Leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 ( gene are the most common known monogenic cause of Parkinson's disease (PD). -linked PD is clinically indistinguishable from idiopathic PD and inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion with reduced penetrance and variable expressivity that differ across ethnicities and geographic regions. To systematically assess clinical signs and symptoms including non-motor features, comorbidities, medication and environmental factors in PD patients, unaffected pathogenic variant carriers, and controls.

Jeune syndrome is a rare form of skeletal dysplasia characterized by a narrow, bell-shaped chest (thoracic cage), and typical phalangeal and pelvic bone deformities. Chest expansion is impaired by the short, horizontally positioned ribs, resulting in alveolar hypoventilation and eventually neonatal-infantile death in most cases. External distraction with sternoplasty is a new technique for the treatment of Jeune syndrome, which was firstly used by our team on a newborn by placing a sliding finger fixator which was designed for ulnar lengthening.

Objective/background: Lymphoma is seen as a highly treatable and curable malignancy with aggressive treatment methods. Efficacy is often limited by toxicity and many patients need alternative treatment strategies as they cannot tolerate existing high cytotoxic approaches. Our aim is to compare BEAM [carmustine (BCNU), etoposide, cytarabine (ARA-C, cytosine arabinoside), and melphalan] and mitoxantrone-melphalan (Mx-Mel) regimens utilized in our patients with a diagnosis of lymphoma who underwent autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT), and to demonstrate that the Mx-Mel regimen has similar but less toxic results than the BEAM regimen we have been using frequently as standard conditioning regimen.

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the risk of hypercalcemia in patients with very high levels of 25-hydroxy vitamin D (25(OH)D).
Methods: The distribution of patients who were screened for 25(OH)D in our hospital between January 2014 and December 2018 was evaluated and patients with serum concentrations of 25(OH)D >88 ng/mL were selected. Then, biochemical parameters of the cases with 25(OH)D >88 ng/mL were compared according to calcium status, vitamin D level (group 1, 88-100 ng/mL; group 2, 100-150 ng/mL, and group 3, >150 ng/mL), and gender.

Background/aim: With the increased experience in living donor liver transplantation (LDLT), it has been adopted for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with emerging discussions of criteria beyond tumor size and number. In contrast to deceased donor liver transplantation (DDLT), recipient selection for LDLT is not limited by organ allocation systems. We discuss herein the assessment, criteria, and experience with liver transplantation (LT) in HCC cases at a high-volume LDLT center.

Background And Aims: Interarm blood pressure difference (IABPD) was associated with increased cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in various cohorts previously. In this study, we planned to explore the association between the IABPD obtained with simultaneous measurements in both arms and the risk of mortality over a 2-year follow-up of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
Methods: Simultaneous blood pressure (BP) measurements were performed during initial admission in patients with ACS.
