This review article discusses the most common benign biliary disorders and the various radiological findings on multiple modalities. A broad spectrum of diseases including various congenital disorders, infective and parasitic etiologies, immunological pathologies such as primary sclerosing cholangitis, and immunoglobulin G4-related sclerosing cholangitis are discussed along with obstructive diseases and ischemic cholangitis. The article emphasized the imaging differential diagnosis of the above lesions as well as clinical correlates those that are most relevant to radiologists.

Double-j stents are commonly used in many urological procedures to facilitate the drainage of renal systems postoperatively. Their usage has revolutionized the world of urological interventions but if left forgotten present serious complications. We report a case of an old man who was diagnosed with bilaterally fragmented DJ stents in situ in our urology department following his sessions of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy for chronic encrustations.

Antibiotic resistance has emerged as a global threat, rendering the existing conventional treatment strategies ineffective. In view of this, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have proven to be potent alternative therapeutic interventions with a wide range of applications in clinical health. AMPs are small peptides produced naturally as a part of the innate immune responses against a broad range of bacterial, fungal and viral pathogens.

Background: Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) presents as a highly metastatic disease with Kras and P53 as prevalent oncogenic driver mutations. Endocytosis, through its role in receptor recycling and enrichment, is important for cancer cell proliferation and metastasis. Huntingtin Interacting Protein 1 (HIP1) is a clathrin mediated endocytic adapter protein found overexpressed in different cancers.

Objectives: In this study, we have reviewed the association between esophageal pressure-guided positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) setting and oxygenation and lung mechanics with a conventional mechanical ventilation (MV) strategy in patient with moderate to severe pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (PARDS).
Design: Retrospective cohort, 2018-2021.
Setting: Tertiary PICU.

The current scenario of employing loop diuretics in combination with guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) demonstrates a comprehensive approach to improving clinical outcomes in individuals with heart failure (HF). GDMT uses four types of drugs: angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitors (ARNIs), beta-blockers (BBs), mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs), and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i). Torsemide, furosemide, and bumetanide are common loop diuretics used to control fluid overload in HF and provide symptomatic relief.

Loop diuretics are regarded as essential for the treatment of edematous conditions in heart failure, cirrhosis, and renal disease. The principal mechanism of action involves inhibiting the reabsorption of ions (Na+, 2Cl-, and K+) from the ascending loop of Henle. The pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) features of the commonly used diuretics (torsemide, furosemide, and bumetanide) influence the selection of diuretics in various disease states and dosing regimens.

Loop diuretics, including torsemide, furosemide, bumetanide, and piretanide, act by inhibiting the sodium-potassium-chloride (Na/K/2Cl) cotransporter in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle within the nephron. This mechanism is pivotal in managing fluid retention associated with conditions such as heart failure, cirrhosis, chronic kidney disease, and hypertension. A comprehensive understanding of how these diuretics uniquely target this transporter provides crucial insights into effectively addressing fluid overload across diverse clinical conditions.

A lot of autoimmune conditions have been found to be associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). There are multiple cases of autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases reported after the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Autoimmune neurological presentations have also been reported but are very rare.

Background: Meningioma is the most prevalent primary intracranial brain tumor and accounts for one-third of all CNS tumors. Meningioma is known to be the most common yet life-threatening brain tumor with a higher recurrence rate. Globally, there is an increase in the healthcare burden due to meningioma and hence in its research.

Liver transplantation (LT) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and chronic liver disease (CLD) is limited by factors such as tumor size, number, portal venous or hepatic venous invasion and extrahepatic disease. Although previously established criteria, such as Milan or UCSF, have been relaxed globally to accommodate more potential recipients with comparable 5-year outcomes, there is still a subset of the population that has advanced HCC with or without portal vein tumor thrombosis without detectable extrahepatic spread who do not qualify or are unable to be downstaged by conventional methods and do not qualify for liver transplantation. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) such as atezolizumab, pembrolizumab, or nivolumab have given hope to this group of patients.

Tuberculosis is one of the endemic diseases in India. Tuberculosis can involve almost every organ of the body, however isolated muscle involvement is considered rare. We hereby report a series of three cases of tubercular pyomyositis to highlight the importance of high clinical suspicion in endemic countries like India, in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised individuals, presenting with persistent fever and musculoskeletal symptoms.

Background: The prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, is increasing globally. Noninvasive methods, such as bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), which measures body composition, including visceral fat, are gaining interest in evaluating MASLD patients. Our study aimed to identify factors associated with significant liver fibrosis, compare noninvasive scores, and highlight the importance of visceral fat measurement using BIA.

The review explores differences in operative times, complication rates, conversion rates, and recovery times among obese patients undergoing these surgical procedures. The findings indicate that while laparoscopic cholecystectomy in obese patients tends to require longer operative times, it does not significantly increase complication rates compared to open cholecystectomy.

Timely diagnosis and management of pediatric acute liver failure (PALF) is of paramount importance to improve survival. The Indian Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition invited national and international experts to identify and review important management and research questions. These covered the definition, age appropriate stepwise workup for the etiology, non-invasive diagnosis and management of cerebral edema, prognostic scores, criteria for listing for liver transplantation (LT) and bridging therapies in PALF.

Severe pneumonia accounts for 15% of the total severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections, and the affected patients require hospitalization and oxygen support. In addition, 5% of patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) experience acute respiratory distress syndrome and sepsis, which contributes to the high mortality rate. Moreover, the risk of severe COVID-19 increases with age and is the highest among elderly people over 70 years of age.

Aims: Diagnosis of IgG4-related ophthalmic disease (IgG4-ROD) rests on the correlation of clinical features, serological testing and histopathology, using internationally accepted diagnostic criteria for objective interpretation; however, several mimickers of IgG4-RD overlap in clinical presentation and histopathology. We assess histopathological features in a series of presumptive IgG4-ROD cases, with emphasis on histopathological mimics and comparison of three IgG4-ROD diagnostic/classification criteria (organ-specific (OS), revised comprehensive diagnostic (RCD) and American College of Rheumatology/European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (ACR/EULAR) criteria).
Methods: The histopathology database was screened for cases with clinical/histopathological suspicion of IgG4-ROD.
