Background And Objectives: Declines in stroke admission, IV thrombolysis (IVT), and mechanical thrombectomy volumes were reported during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a paucity of data on the longer-term effect of the pandemic on stroke volumes over the course of a year and through the second wave of the pandemic. We sought to measure the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the volumes of stroke admissions, intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), IVT, and mechanical thrombectomy over a 1-year period at the onset of the pandemic (March 1, 2020, to February 28, 2021) compared with the immediately preceding year (March 1, 2019, to February 29, 2020).

Impaired fasting glucose (IFG) is known as an intermediate state in the development of diabetes mellitus. It may be considered as a potential indicator for prevention of diabetes mellitus (DM) and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Dyslipidemia is characterized by high or low level of triglycerides and total cholesterol.

Introduction: Giant cell tumor (GCT) is a benign bone tumor typically seen in epiphysis or metaphysis of mature long bones. Multiple large multinucleated giant cells dispersed among mononuclear spindle cells and monocytes constitute characteristic histological background of GCT of bone (GCTB).
Case Presentation: A 15-year-old girl was admitted to our hospital with the complaint of pain and swelling in the left leg with difficulty in walking for 2 years.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) and hepatic steatosis are two of the most common metabolic syndromes that affect the health of people globally. Empagliflozin (EMPA) is a promising drug of choice for the diabetic population. Recent studies have shown its beneficial effects not only on diabetic patients but also on patients suffering from cardiac, hepatic, neurological, or pancreatic anomalies.

Purpose: Perinatal cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection can lead to biliary atresia (BA) in different entities. This study aimed to compare the clinical, hematological, biochemical, and histological features of infants with BA based on their CMV immunoglobulin M (IgM) status at presentation.
Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out between January 2019 and June 2020 at the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka.

Background: Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2 inhibitors) are a relatively new class of medications used for the management of type II diabetes mellitus targeting the kidneys. Within the last decade, several warnings have been issued regarding the development of severe genitourinary infections, including necrotizing fasciitis, or Fournier's gangrene, in those with pre-existing type II diabetes and concomitant use of this drug class.
Objective: The purpose of this review is to highlight and discuss the factors contributing to the development of Fournier's gangrene, its pathogenesis, and a review of existing literature describing patient outcomes, treatment, and future directions regarding early detection of this complication.

Background And Aims: Limited data exist regarding outcomes of acute variceal bleeding (AVB) in patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), especially in those with hepatic failure. We evaluated the outcomes of AVB in patients with ACLF in a multinational cohort of APASL ACLF Research Consortium (AARC).
Methods: Prospectively maintained data from AARC database on patients with ACLF who developed AVB (ACLF-AVB) was analysed.

The role of uric acid as a risk factor for cerebrovascular disease, particularly acute ischemic stroke, is controversial and there is little information about this in our setting. This cross-sectional study was conducted at the departments of Medicine and Neurology of a tertiary hospital in Bangladesh over one year, from January 2018 to December 2018, to estimate serum uric acid (SUA) levels and assess its risk factor potential in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Forty-five patients with acute ischemic stroke were enrolled and a similar number of age and sex-matched healthy individuals were recruited for comparison.

Every year in Nigeria, malnutrition contributes to more than 33% of the deaths of children below 5 years, and these deaths mostly occur in the northern geopolitical zones (NGZs), where nearly 50% of all children below 5 years are stunted. This study examined the trends in the prevalence of stunting and its associated factors among children aged 0-23 months, 24-59 months and 0-59 months in the NGZs. The data of 33,682 recent live births in the NGZs, extracted from the Nigeria Demographic and Health Surveys from 2008 to 2018, were used to investigate the factors associated with stunting using multilevel logistic regression.
