Traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) can result in severe disability and causes a considerable socio-economic burden worldwide. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are important regulators of gene expression and pathological processes, and may represent therapeutic targets for SCI. To further evaluate the role of circRNAs in SCI, we elucidated circRNA expression profiles related to vascular endothelial proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis during the early stages of secondary injury in a mouse model of SCI.

An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a localized dilatation of the aorta related to the regional weakening of the wall structure, resulting in substantial morbidity and mortality with the aortic ruptures as complications. Ruptured AAA is a dramatic catastrophe, and aortic emergencies constitute one of the leading causes of acute death in older adults. AAA management has been centered on surgical repair of larger aneurysms to mitigate the risks of rupture, and curative early diagnosis and effective pharmacological treatments for this condition are still lacking.

T cells participate in the repair process and immune response in the CNS post-traumatic injury and play both a beneficial and harmful role. Together with nerve cells and other immune cells, they form a microenvironment in the CNS post-traumatic injury. The repair of traumatic CNS injury is a long-term process.

Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of biphasic contrast-enhanced CT in differentiation of lipid-poor adenomas from pheochromocytomas.
Methods: 129 patients with 132 lipid-poor adenomas and 93 patients with 97 pheochromocytomas confirmed by pathology were included in this retrospective study. Patients underwent unenhanced abdominal CT scan followed by arterial and venous phase.

Osteomyelitis is a complication of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL); however, its incidence rate is low. Recurrent ALL for which osteomyelitis is the first manifestation is rarer still. The repair and reconstruction of segmental bone defects caused by infection is a clinical problem.

Background: It still remains unclear whether patients with atypical meningioma (AM) could benefit from postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy (PORT) after gross-total resection (GTR).
Objective: Exploring the effectiveness of PORT on AM patients after GTR.
Methods: Literatures on PubMed, Embase, Web of science, and Scopus databases published between January 2000 and January 2019 were searched.

Objective: The goal of this study was to evaluate the predictive capacity of four scoring tools: the Status Epilepticus Severity Score (STESS), the Encephalitis-NCSE-Diazepam resistance-Image abnormalities-Tracheal intubation (END-IT) score, and two variable combinations of the Epidemiology-based Mortality Score in Status Epilepticus (EMSE) in younger and older adult patients with status epilepticus (SE).
Methods: We present a retrospective hospital-based analysis with a focus on adult patients with SE at three tertiary care hospitals in the Zhejiang province of China. Data were collected from January 2013 to December 2018.

: Hereditary protein S deficiency is an autosomal dominant disorder associated with a high risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and usually results from mutations of PROS1. Historically heparin and warfarin have been applied as recommended treatment of VTE. Recent researches showed that rivaroxaban provided more consistent and predictable anticoagulation than warfarin.

The combination of anti-angiogenesis and chemotherapy can significantly prolong the survival period of patients with non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). But drug resistance will inevitably occur, thereby causing increased tumor invasion and metastasis. Claudin-5 (CLDN5) is a protein member of tight junction (TJ) structures expressed in endothelial and epithelial cells and confirmed to be involved in the proliferation and leakage of endothelial cells (ECs) and malignant metastases.

Background: This study sought to evaluate the risk factors for the development of colitis-associated neoplasia (CAN) in Chinese patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Methods: IBD patients who developed CAN between 1999 and 2016 were identified from eight medical centers. In addition to initial pathology evaluation, a CAN diagnosis was confirmed by two expert pathologists.

The lungs are the second most common site of metastasis for colorectal cancer (CRC) after the liver. Rectal cancer is associated with a higher incidence of lung metastases compared to colon cancer. In China, the proportion of rectal cancer cases is around 50%, much higher than that in Western countries (nearly 30%).

Propofol has been proven to be potentially abused by humans and laboratory animals; however, studies that have examined propofol relapse behavior are limited, and its underlying mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we examined whether basolateral amygdala-specific or systematic administration of the dopamine receptor antagonist alters cue-induced propofol-seeking behaviors in a rat model. Male Sprague-Dawley rats first received 14 days of propofol self-administration training, where active nose poke resulted in the delivery of propofol infusion paired with a tone and light cues.

Dystonia is characterized by sustained muscle contractions, causing repetitive movements and abnormal postures. The epidemiological study of dystonia of Chinese population was limited reported. In this study, we investigated the epidemiology of primary dystonia, and its clinical characteristics in an adult population in China.

The search for safe, effective and affordable therapeutics against non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and other lung cancers is important. Here we explored the potential effect of 1-o-acetylbritannilactone (ABL), a novel extract from Inula britannica-F, on angiogenesis and lung cancer cell growth. We demonstrated that ABL dose-dependently inhibited vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-induced proliferation, migration, and capillary structure formation of cultured human umbilical vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs).

Either metastatic or primary squamous cell carcinoma in the gastrointestinal tract is extremely rare, with very few cases reported in the literature. In this paper, we report a case in which the patient presented with dysphagia during the course of radiotherapy for recurrent lung cancer in a mediastinal lymph node. Although the dysphagia mimicked radiation esophagitis, the ultimate cause proved to be gastric and duodenal metastases from primary lung squamous cell carcinoma.

Objective: To investigate the alternations of thyroid hormone in traumatic patients with severe inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS).
Methods: Fifty traumatic patients with severe SIRS were enrolled and divided into two groups according to whether they presented multiorgan dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Thyroid hormone measurements were taken, including total triiodothyronine (TT3), total thyroxine (TT4), free triiodothyronine (FT3), free thyroxine (FT4) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).
