Introduction: Scaphoid fractures are one of the most common carpal bone fractures, with most fractures involving the waist. When surgery is indicated, internal fixation with screws is the standard method for the fixation of these fractures. Accurate length and trajectory of the screw are two crucial parameters essential for optimal internal fixation.

Introduction Femoral head fractures, specifically Pipkin Type I and Type II, are uncommon injuries often linked with posterior hip dislocations. Management strategies for these fractures range from conservative treatments to various surgical procedures, with open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) being a notable option. The surgical approach for ORIF varies, and due to the rarity of the injury, a standardized management protocol is lacking.

Loop diuretics are regarded as essential for the treatment of edematous conditions in heart failure, cirrhosis, and renal disease. The principal mechanism of action involves inhibiting the reabsorption of ions (Na+, 2Cl-, and K+) from the ascending loop of Henle. The pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) features of the commonly used diuretics (torsemide, furosemide, and bumetanide) influence the selection of diuretics in various disease states and dosing regimens.

The discovery of inhibitors for sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA) has significantly improved type 2 diabetes management. Large-scale clinical studies have shown that both SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 RA enhance cardiovascular health. Benefits include reduced cardiovascular disease risk, lower mortality, fewer heart failure hospitalizations (SGLT2 inhibitors), and stroke prevention (GLP-1 RA).

Background: The use of robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RA-TKA) is gaining traction. There is evidence to suggest that RA-TKA can help to optimize the precision and accuracy of implant positioning and that there may be protective effects on surrounding bony and soft tissues. Yet, there are important differences between the various RA-TKA systems currently on the market.

Anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap is the most common soft tissue flap used for microvascular reconstruction of head and neck. Its harvest is associated with some unpredictability due to variability in perforator characteristics, injury or unfavorable configuration for complex defects. Anteromedial thigh (AMT) flap is an option, but the low incidence and thickness restrict its utility.

Acute nondiarrheal illnesses (NDIs) involve overt or subclinical dehydration, requiring rehydration and electrolyte repletion. Dehydration is frequently under-recognized and under-managed, both in outpatient departments (OPDs) and inpatient departments (IPDs). Postadmission dehydration is associated with longer hospital stays and higher inhospital mortality rates.

This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of valgus osteotomy as a primary treatment for intracapsular femoral neck fractures in adult patients aged 15-60 years, assessing its impact on functional outcomes and fracture union. Methodology A retrospective clinical analysis was conducted at the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Osmania Government General Hospital, Hyderabad, India, focusing on patients treated with primary intertrochanteric valgus osteotomy for intracapsular femoral neck fractures.

Purpose Of Review: Third space endoscopy (TSE) offers diverse treatment options for a variety of conditions of the gastrointestinal tract and motility disorders. Accuracy and precise dissection have helped treat complex conventional surgeries with TSE. Despite over a decade of its presence, difficult situations are routinely encountered.

Purpose Of Review: The data on preventive measures for managing obesity prior to surgery is limited. This review highlights the role of stopgap measures for managing obesity before surgery.
Recent Findings: Body weight regulation to achieve sustainable weight loss is a gradual process.
The global repercussions of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) include substantial worldwide mortality and have brought to light existing gaps in healthcare systems. Particularly, diseases requiring time-sensitive treatment, such as ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), have faced significant challenges due to the impact and revelations of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare infrastructure. This review addresses the impact of the pandemic on STEMI, exploring incidence, treatment modalities, and clinical outcomes.

A 72-year woman with a history of multiple cerebrovascular accidents presented with severe epigastric pain. An oesophageal perforation by the tip of a Ryles tube, which had migrated into the mediastinum, was diagnosed by radiography. An attempt at pushing the nasogastric tube into the stomach resulted in increasing the rupture to about 6 cm in size.

Introduction: Malignant tumors afflicting the sub-condylar area and ascending ramus of the mandible without mucosal involvement are extremely rare. Traditional approaches such as lip-split-cheek flap and Visor flap would prove sub-optimal and excessive for such limited lesions and entail salivary contamination and mental nerve sacrifice. To circumvent these limitations, we developed a surgical approach that achieves wide, extra-oral exposure to the condyle and ascending ramus and permits controlled resection, affording protection to the facial nerve branches and mental nerve, while avoiding salivary contamination.

The deep inferior epigastric artery perforator (DIEP) flap is a workhorse flap for breast reconstruction. Its use for head and neck (HN) reconstruction is rare. Abdomen provides a donor site abundant in skin and subcutaneous tissue, amenable to primary closure; sizeable, robust, and consistent perforators and a long, sizeable pedicle for comfortable microvascular anastomosis.

We describe our experience with use of free thoracodorsal artery perforator (TDAP) flap for head and neck (H&N) cancer reconstruction, with respect to the patient and disease profile, suitable defect characteristics, the reconstructive technique, and complications. Consecutive patients ( = 26) undergoing free TDAP flap for H&N onco-reconstruction, in a single center, were included from January 2015 to December 2018 and the data were analyzed. Perforator(s) were reliably predicted preoperatively, using handheld Doppler.

Objectives: The aim of this pilot study is to identify the genetic factors that contribute to the response of metronomic chemotherapy in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients using whole-exome sequencing (WES). This study would facilitate the identification of predictive biomarkers, which would enable personalized treatment strategies and improve treatment outcomes for patients with HNSCC.
Materials And Methods: We have selected patients with recurrent head and neck cancer who underwent metronomic chemotherapy.
