The treatment of bone infections has always been difficult. The emergence of drug-resistant bacteria has led to a steady decline in the effectiveness of antibiotics. It is also especially important to fight bacterial infections while repairing bone defects and cleaning up dead bacteria to prevent biofilm formation.

Purpose: Pharmacists are key members of the pain management interdisciplinary team in many developed countries. However, the implementation of clinical pharmacy services in pain management is impeded by the imbalance between the pain physicians and clinical pharmacists specializing in pain management in China. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the perceptions, expectations and current experience of Chinese pain physicians regarding clinical pharmacy services.

Osteonecrosis without effective early treatment eventually leads to the collapse of the articular surface and causes arthritis. For the early stages of osteonecrosis, core decompression combined with bone grafting, is a procedure worthy of attention and clinical trial. And the study of bone graft substitutes has become a hot topic in the area of osteonecrosis research.

Background: Excessive scarring of filtering blebs is the main cause of surgical failure in glaucoma. Previous studies have highlighted the role of chloride channels (ClCs) in scar formation, whereas the role of ClCs in scarring of filtering blebs has not been studied.
Objectives: The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of the chloride channel 2 (ClC-2) on scar formation of filtering blebs after glaucoma filtering surgery.

Background and Purpose- It remains unknown that whether white matter hyperintensity (WMH) severity influences the effect of antihypertensive treatment in acute ischemic stroke. We aimed to investigate the effects of early antihypertensive treatment on death and disability among patients with acute ischemic stroke according to WMH severities. Methods- This study was a secondary analysis of the data from CATIS (China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke).

Stroke is the leading cause of death and long-term disability worldwide, and cognitive impairment and dementia are major complications of ischemic stroke. Cystatin C (CysC) has been found to be a neuroprotective factor in animal studies. However, the relationship between CysC levels and cognitive dysfunction in previous studies has revealed different results.

Although transient cortical blindness is a rare complication following cerebral angiography, identification of risk factors for the development of transient cortical blindness after cerebral angiography is an important clinical issue. Between January 2008 and April 2018, 5,126 patients at five high-volume medical centers who underwent cerebral angiography procedures were enrolled in this multicenter cohort study. Patient baseline characteristics and surgery-related factors were analyzed.

Background: Antiphospholipid activity was reported to be increased in depressive patients, while the impact of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) on post-stroke depression (PSD) is unclear. We aimed to investigate the associations of aPLs, including antiphosphatidylserine (aPS) and anticardiolipin (aCL) antibodies with depression after acute ischemic stroke.
Methods: aPS and aCL were measured in 497 ischemic stroke patients recruited from 7 of 26 participating hospitals of China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke.

Controlled preparation of Ni-doped ZnS (ZnNiS) nanocrystals with ranging from 0 to 0.07 is explored in this study. ZnNiS nanocrystals were fabricated as surface-enhanced Raman scattering active substrates, and 4-mercaptobenzoic acid was chosen as the probe molecule to examine the surface-enhanced Raman scattering ability.

Background And Aims: We aimed to evaluate the ability of multiple novel biomarkers representing several pathophysiological pathways to improve risk prediction of post-stroke cognitive impairment.
Methods: We conducted a prospective multicenter study in 638 ischemic stroke patients with elevated blood pressure based on a random subsample from China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke and measured 12 circulating biomarkers in these participants. Cognitive impairment was assessed at 3 months after stroke with definitions of Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score <27 or Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score <25.

Background And Aims: The association between heart rate and prognosis of ischemic stroke remains debatable, and whether renal function status influences the relationship between them is still not elucidated.
Methods: A total of 3923 ischemic stroke patients were included in this prospective multicenter study from the China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke (CATIS). The primary outcome was a combination of death and major disability (modified Rankin Scale score ≥3) at 3 months after stroke.

Background: The effect of early blood pressure reduction on cognitive function in patients with acute ischemic stroke remains unknown.
Aim: We tested whether antihypertensive treatment would reduce cognitive impairment in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
Methods: In the China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke, patients with elevated blood pressure were randomly assigned to receive antihypertensive treatment or to discontinue all hypertensive medications within 48 h of onset.

Radiofrequency thermocoagulation (RFT) is widely used to treat trigeminal neuralgia (TN); however, the optimal temperature at which RFT is most efficacious remains under much debate. Thus, the aim of the present study was to determine the lowest temperature at which morbidity could be minimized and patient outcomes maximized.A multivariate analysis was used to study 1354 patients who underwent computed tomography (CT)-guided RFT for V2/V3 idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia (ITN) during from June 2006 to May 2015.

Importance: Although the benefit of reducing blood pressure for primary and secondary prevention of stroke has been established, the effect of antihypertensive treatment in patients with acute ischemic stroke is uncertain.
Objective: To evaluate whether immediate blood pressure reduction in patients with acute ischemic stroke would reduce death and major disability at 14 days or hospital discharge.
Design, Setting, And Participants: The China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke, a single-blind, blinded end-points randomized clinical trial, conducted among 4071 patients with nonthrombolysed ischemic stroke within 48 hours of onset and elevated systolic blood pressure.

This case report presents an evaluation of the clinical effects of an allogeneic amniotic cell transplant for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus. A 26-year-old man with type 1 diabetes was treated with stem cells isolated from his neonatal son's amniotic membrane, collected at birth (2 × 10(7) cells). The cells, which expressed high levels of cluster of differentiation (CD) 133 and CD34 as assessed by flow cytometry, were infused into the pancreatic dorsal artery through the left femoral artery.

We evaluated the biological characteristics/effect of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) grafting with blood plasma on bone regeneration in rat tibia nonunion. SD rats (142) were randomly divided into four groups: fracture group (positive control); nonunion group (negative control); hUC-MSCs grafting with blood plasma group; and hUC-MSCs grafting with saline group. Rats were administered tetracycline (30 mg/kg) and calcein blue (5 mg/kg) 8 days before killing.

Destructive injury is defined as a very serious damage both to the bone and the soft tissues. But in clinical practice we found that in some fracture cases, the damage to soft tissues is not as severe as "destructive injury" indicates, whereas comminuted fractures still cannot show the severity of bone damage. Therefore we proposed a new term "destructive fractures" after combining the definition of destructive injury with typical clinic cases.

Air sac midwifery technique is developed in this hospital to cut down the duration of labor (birth process). A special small sac is placed inside the ripe cervix and vagina of women of term pregnancy, and aerated slowly till a positive pressure of 16-25 kPa is reached. The cervix can be dilated to 6 to 8 cm, and the vagina 10 to 12 cm in 1 to 2 minutes.
