Inflammation of chondrocytes plays a critical role in the occurrence and development of osteoarthritis (OA). Recent evidence indicated exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs-Exos) exhibit excellent anti-inflammatory ability in many troublesome inflammatory diseases including OA. In the present study, we aimed to explore the role of human umbilical cord-derived MSCs-Exos (hUC-MSCs-Exos) in treating the inflammation of chondrocytes and its related mechanisms.

Studies have investigated the effects of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) use on the incidence and clinical outcomes of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); however, the results have been inconsistent. We searched the PubMed, Medline, Cochrane, Scopus, and Web of Science databases from inception to March 2022; 13 studies covering 84 003 prostate cancer (PCa) patients with or without ADT met the eligibility criteria and were included in the meta-analysis. We calculated the pooled risk ratios (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) to explore the association between ADT use and the infection risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and severity of COVID-19.

As a treatment option for cancer, thermal ablation has satisfactory effects on many types of solid tumors (such as liver and renal cancers). However, its clinical applications for the treatment of thyroid nodules and metastatic cervical lymph nodes are still under debate both in China and abroad. In 2015, the "Zhejiang Expert consensus on thermal ablation for thyroid benign nodules, microcarcinoma, and metastatic cervical lymph nodes (2015 edition)," was released by the Thyroid Cancer Committee of Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association, China.

Background: Human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs) have chondrocyte differentiation potential and are considered to be a cell source for cell-transplantation-mediated repair of cartilage defects, including those associated with osteoarthritis (OA). However, chondrocyte hypertrophic differentiation is a major obstacle for the application of hBMSCs in articular cartilage defect treatment. We have previously shown that microRNA-27b (miR-27b) inhibits hypertrophy of chondrocytes from rat knee cartilage.

Accumulating evidence indicates that oxidative stress and inflammation are implicated in brachial plexus avulsion (BPA). Quercetin has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-apoptotic, and neuroprotective properties. This study investigated the therapeutic efficacy of a temperature-sensitive poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide)-poly(ethylene-glycol)-poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA-PEG-PLGA) hydrogel sustained-release system of quercetin in BPA.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) has been reported to have a significant association with the hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. However, there has been no experimental evidence to determine whether the components of the hepatitis B virus are expressed in lymphoid cells. In this study, we used immunohistochemical methods to explore whether the antigens of hepatitis B virus are expressed in DLBCL lymphoma cells in HBsAg-positive DLBCL patients (HBsAg + DLBCL).

Introduction: Spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid leakage is usually caused by developmental abnormalities and is rare, accounting for approximately 5% of the cases of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage. To the best of our knowledge, clival dysplasia-caused CSF rhinorrhea has never been reported in the neurosurgical field.
Conclusion: Spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea is often treated by surgery, and a transsphenoidal approach repair is the main surgical method used, offering the advantages of less trauma, fewer complications, rapid postoperative recovery, and low recurrence rate.

Accurately representing the spatial location of the amygdaloid body can lay an anatomical basis for the neurosurgery operation for amputation of the amygdaloid body through lateral fissure approach. As we know, there are a number of nerve nucleuses and essential structures locating around amygdaloid body in our brain, especially optic tract. However, only few research had been done to protect these tissues or nerve nucleuses.

The complex anatomy of petrous part of temporal bone makes the craniotomy around this area challenging. To avoid damaging the interior structures of petrous part of temporal bone, the authors used computed tomography to get the projection of the petrous part of temporal bone on skulls, making the external contours of petrous part clear, thus protecting its interior structure as a reference in craniotomy. The objective of this study was to find out the three-dimensional location of 4 points of petrous part of temporal bone.

Introduction: Many studies have shown that differences were observed between male and female lupus patients. Although systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) affects mostly females (female:male ratio 9:1), male SLE patients show higher mortality due to kidney and neurological disease. Currently there are limited epidemiological data concerning lupus in the Chinese population.
