The recent resurgence of mpox highlights the urgent need for rethinking vaccination strategies globally, underscored by the painful memories of past public health crises where delayed responses and inequitable vaccine distribution exacerbated the spread of infectious diseases. The inaugural APIC-ADVA Asia Pacific Summit on Infectious Diseases and Immunization, themed "Vaccination for All: Access, Confidence and Equity (ACE)", was held in Singapore from 31 October to 1 November 2023 in an attempt to present best practices and hard-won insights from battling COVID-19 and other pandemics in the Asia-Pacific region. This summit was co-convened by the Asia-Pacific Immunization Coalition (APIC) and Asia Dengue Voice and Action (ADVA).

The attention mechanism is essential to (CNN) vision backbones used for sensing and imaging systems. Conventional attention modules are designed heuristically, relying heavily on empirical tuning. To tackle the challenge of designing attention mechanisms, this paper proposes a novel probabilistic attention mechanism.

We observed tunable characteristics of optical frequency combs (OFCs) generated from InGaAs/GaAs double quantum wells (DQWs) asymmetric waveguide two-section mode-locked lasers (TS-MLLs). This involves an asymmetric waveguide mode-locked semiconductor laser (AWML-SL) operating at a center wavelength of net modal gain of approximately 1.06 µm, which indicates a stable pulse shape, with the power-current(P-I) characteristic curve revealing a small difference between forward and reverse drive currents in the gain region.

Tan Delta reflects the viscoelastic behavior of materials, particularly polymers. In most cases, a high Tan Delta value is associated with transitions (such as glass transition or melting), enabling effective damping properties near these temperature ranges. However, achieving a high Tan Delta over a broad temperature range is challenging, particularly for engineering applications that involve significant temperature fluctuations.

This work introduces an ultraviolet (UV)-curable elastomer through the co-polymerization of aliphatic polyurethane acrylate and hydroxypropyl acrylate via UV irradiation. The UV-curable elastomer presents superior mechanical properties (elongation at a break of 2992%) and high transparency (94.8% at 550 nm in the visible light region).

: The ketogenic diet (KD) is widely used for weight management by reducing appetite, enhancing fat oxidation, and facilitating weight loss. However, the high content of total and saturated fats in a conventional KD may elevate low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol levels, a known risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, highlighting the need for healthier alternatives. This study aimed to investigate the effect of a newly developed Healthy Ketogenic Diet (HKD) versus an Energy-Restricted Diet (ERD) on weight loss and metabolic outcomes among adults with obesity.

Automated nucleic acid extractors are useful instruments for the high-throughput processing of bio-samples and are expected to improve research throughput in addition to decreased inter-sample variability inherent to manual processing. We evaluated three commercial nucleic acid extractors Bioer GenePure Pro (Bioer Technology, Hangzhou, China), Maxwell RSC 16 (Promega Corporation, Madison, WI, USA), and KingFisher Apex (ThermoFisher Scientific, Waltham, MA, USA) based on their DNA yield, DNA purity, and 16S rRNA gene amplicon results using both human fecal samples and a mock community (ZymoBIOMICS Microbial Community Standard (Zymo Research Corp., Irvine, CA, USA)).

mRNA-based vaccines against the COVID-19 pandemic have propelled the use of nucleic acids for drug delivery. Conventional lipid-based carriers, such as liposomes and nanolipogels, effectively encapsulate and deliver RNA but are hindered by issues such as premature burst release and immunogenicity. To address these challenges, cell membrane-coated nanoparticles offer a promising alternative.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a member of the large coronavirus family with high infectivity and pathogenicity and is the primary pathogen causing the global pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Phosphorylation is a major type of protein post-translational modification that plays an essential role in the process of SARS-CoV-2-host interactions. The precise identification of phosphorylation sites in host cells infected with SARS-CoV-2 will be of great importance to investigate potential antiviral responses and mechanisms and exploit novel targets for therapeutic development.

Loss of the glutathione-S-transferases Theta 2 (Gstt2) expression is associated with an improved response to intravesical , Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) immunotherapy for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) patients who receive fewer BCG instillations. To delineate the cause, Gstt2 knockout (KO) and wildtype (WT) C57Bl/6J mice were implanted with tumors before treatment with BCG or saline. RNA was analyzed via single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).

: Two-dimensional and three-dimensional echocardiographic imaging are commonly used in assessing ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) and degenerative mitral regurgitation (DMR) in patients with mitral valve disease. However, the use of 4D echocardiographic imaging has not yet been reported. The objectives of this study were to explore the efficacy of utilizing 4D echocardiographic variables, determine papillary muscle displacement in patients with either IMR or DMR, and compare the differences in papillary muscle displacement between groups.
