Background: Heart failure (HF) has become a public healthcare concern with significant costs to countries because of the aging world population. Acute heart failure (AHF) is a common condition faced frequently in emergency departments, and patients often present to hospitals with complaints of breathlessness. The patient must be evaluated with anamnesis, physical examination, blood, and imaging results to diagnose AHF.

Due to the visibility feature of facial skin diseases such as rosacea and acne vulgaris (AV), it is possible for them to cause IS. Objective We aimed to examine the level of IS in AV and rosacea patients and compare these patient groups as well.

Background: We aimed to investigate coronavirus diease 2019 (COVID-19) outcomes in patients with amyloid A protein (AA) amyloidosis secondary to rheumatic diseases and discuss factors associated with disease course.
Methods: A retrospective cohort was formed from adult patients with a diagnosis of AA amyloidosis. In patients with a positive severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, rates of hospitalization, intensive care unit admission and mortality due to COVID-19 were collected from medical records.

Background: Oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) is commonly used to control small intraoperative bleedings in lung cancer surgery. However, difficulties in its absorption may lead to complications that can mimic malignancy recurrence in the affected areas, and may require further examination.
Methods: Between 2015 and 2022, patients who underwent malignant tumour resection and lymph node dissection and were subsequently evaluated for suspected lymph node recurrence and underwent EBUS-guided needle biopsy were included in the study.

Background: The diagnosis of cancer and initiation of treatment disrupt physical, emotional, and socio-economical stability of the patients by reducing the quality of lives and ultimately leading to depression and anxiety. We aimed to observe the indicators for anxiety and depression among lung cancer (LC) patients by comparing with other cancer (OC) patients.
Methods: This study has been conducted between 2017 and 2019.

Background The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) is a valuable marker for evaluating the nutritional status associated with postoperative complications and the prognosis of patients with cancer. However, the role and clinical value of PNI in infection after lung cancer surgery remains unclear. This study examined the association between PNI and infection after lobectomy for lung cancer, focusing on the predictive value of PNI.

The suprafloccular transhorizontal fissure approach is a modified variant of the classical retrosigmoid approach option to be chosen for cerebellopontine angle lesions. In this study, we aimed to demonstrate a previously described but not widely used method, the suprafloccular transhorizontal fissure approach with anatomical dissection on the cadaver, accompanied by a case presentation with the largest clinical series in the literature. Klingler's protocol was used to prepare 8 silicone injected and 8 non-silicone injected human hemispheres.

Background: NLRP3 inflammasome activation has been known to be involved in the etiology and progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Furthermore, AD and diabetes mellitus have common pathomechanisms. It has been shown that P2X7R whose expression is increased in brain tissues with AD and plays a role in the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome is suppressed by miR-373 in patients with osteoarthritis.

Objectives: Night Shift work is an increasingly common working order that affects human well-being and it is little known about its arrhythmic role in the cardiovascular system. We aimed to investigate the effect of working at night shifts on P-wave dispersion (Pd), QT and QTc dispersions (QTd, QTcd resp) on surface electrocardiography.
Methods: We included 286 foundry workers who work at night shift and 100 foundry workers who work on day time only.
Objectives: To examine the protective effects of melatonin on laryngeal radiation damage.
Materials And Methods: 31 rats were divided into 4 groups as follows: 1) the control (C) group (n=7), was only injected with intraperitoneal ethanol solution; 2) the melatonin (M) group (n=8), was injected intraperitoneal melatonin solution with 5 mg/kg; 3) the radiotherapy (RT) group (n=8) was given laryngeal radiation after intraperitoneal injection of ethanol solution; 4) the M + RT group (n=8), RT was given 30 minutes after 5 mg/kg dose of melatonin solution was injected. Drug and radiation applications were continued for 5 days.

Aim Increasing evidence suggests that autonomic dysfunction may be involved in the etiology of white coat hypertension (WCH). The aim of this study was to evaluate cardiac autonomic function by using heart rate recovery (HRR) indices in patients with WCH classified according to their circadian rhythm type of blood pressure (BP).Material and methods This cross-sectional study included 120 participants over the age of 18 yrs, including 50 patients diagnosed with WCH and 70 healthy controls with normal in- and out-of-office BP and without any known disease.

Purpose: Predicting the clinical course of COVID-19 pneumonia is of high clinical importance and may change treatment strategies. This study aimed to compare the semi-quantitative CT score (radiological score), mCHADS-VASc score (clinical score), and R-mCHADS-VASc score (clinical and radiological score) to predict the risk of ICU admission and mortality in COVID 19 pneumonia.
Methods: This study retrospectively evaluated 901 COVID-19 pneumonia cases with positive PCR results.

Objective: To evaluate the prognostic significance of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in giant cell tumor of bone (GCT).
Methods: The patients with GCT were identified in the hospital records and pre-treatment complete blood count results were acquired retrospectively. Whether preoperative NLR lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) values had prognostic significance in predicting recurrence was evaluated by Receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis.

Introduction: It is known that the levels of tumor necrosis factor-like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK/TNFSF12) increase after myocardial infarction (MI) and that it interacts with sCD163. It has also been argued that TWEAK can induce matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in macrophages.
Aim: To investigate the roles of TWEAK, sCD163, and MMPs in left ventricular (LV) adverse remodeling (AR) in the early post-MI period.

Increasing evidence indicates that microRNA (miRNA) regulated mechanisms in myocardial healing and ventricular remodeling following acute myocardial infarction (AMI). We aim to comprehensively investigate changes of exosomal miRNA profile during the post-MI period and determine potential miRNAs associated to adverse left ventricular remodeling (ALVR). We prospectively evaluated ST-elevated MI patients with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging at the 2 weeks and 6 months after AMI (n = 10).

Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the outcomes of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in our cohort of Behçet's disease (BD) patients and to reveal the rate of BD exacerbations due to COVID-19.
Methods: Patients who have been followed with a diagnosis of BD were retrospectively investigated for a positive severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 polymerized chain reaction (PCR) test. Data regarding demographics, clinical features and COVID-19 outcomes were collected from medical records for patients with a positive PCR.

Tissue structure in the infarct and remote zone myocardium post-acute myocardial infarction (MI) may offer prognostic information concerning left ventricular remodeling. We aimed to identify or establish a relationship between adverse remodeling (AR) and changes (Δ) in T1, T2 mapping and extracellular volume (ECV) in post MI periods. Fifty-four MI patients underwent 3 Tesla CMR performed 2 weeks (acute phase) and 6 months post-MI.

Introduction: Sacrospinal anomalies that may accompany anorectal malformations may cause fecal and urinary incontinence despite proper anomaly treatment. The sacral ratio has been suggested in the determination of both the prognosis in terms of incontinence and the need for further examination for sacrospinal anomalies. The normal and clinically decisive values of sacral ratio are given differently in publications.
