Background: Peripheral vascular disease is the rarest vascular complication in systemic lupus erythematosus. Some theories propose that immune complexes may promote inflammation in the vessel, and disrupt it in a manner that may cause ischemia.

Case Presentation: A 14-year-old Asian girl presented with intermittent claudication as the chief complaint followed by discoloration of her left big toe for 2 weeks prior to admission.

Acute stroke care systems in Southeast Asian countries are at various stages of development, with disparate treatment availability and practice in terms of intravenous thrombolysis and endovascular therapy. With the advent of successful endovascular therapy stroke trials over the past decade, the pressure to revise and advance acute stroke management has greatly intensified. Southeast Asian patients exhibit unique stroke features, such as increased susceptibility to intracranial atherosclerosis and higher prevalence of intracranial haemorrhage, likely secondary to modified vascular risk factors from differing dietary and lifestyle habits.

Article Synopsis
  • The Zika virus strain JMB-185 was isolated from a febrile patient in Jambi, Indonesia in 2014, and researchers performed whole genome sequencing to analyze its genetic makeup.
  • Phylogenetic analysis revealed that this strain is not closely related to Brazilian ZIKV linked to microcephaly or recent Singapore outbreaks, suggesting its unique lineage.
  • The study found that the JMB-185 strain likely circulated in Southeast Asia since 2000, showing high genetic similarity with strains from Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore, alongside some unique amino acid changes.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a type of dementia which is known as one of a major problem in elderly. Clinicians commonly use mini-mental state examination (MMSE) score to determine the severity of cognitive decline, but MMSE has some limitations such as more subjective, influenced by age, educational degree, and local culture. F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-18 FDG PET) can be used to assess the process of glucose metabolism in posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) area which endures a central role in supporting cognitive function directly.

Background: Axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) has been the standard treatment of breast cancer axillary staging in Indonesia. The limited facilities of radioisotope tracer and isosulfan or patent blue dye (PBD) have been the major obstacles to perform sentinel node biopsy (SNB) in our country. We studied the application of 1% methylene blue dye (MBD) alone for SNB to overcome the problem.
