Based on MS analysis, the mechanism of the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of cyclic ketones with hydrogen peroxide using metal triflates (Ga(OTf) and Er(OTf)) as catalysts was proposed. In the case of cyclohexanone as a substrate, dimeric, trimeric and tetrameric peroxide structures were detected.

The growing interest in the application of ionic liquids (ILs) with simultaneous sustainability draws attention to their environmental impact in general and their biodegradability in particular. Considering this, we designed a series of novel bio-ionic liquids based on natural, abundant compounds: a carbohydrate [Carb], as the cation, and amino acids [AA], as the anions; these ILs can serve as viable alternatives to the well-known and utile cholinium AAILs. Several [Carb][AA] ILs were characterized by H and C NMR, mass spectrometry, thermogravimetry (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

We have studied the oxidation of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) by boiling them in a nitrating mixture composed of conc. HNO/HSO (v/v = 1/3). By analysis of the morphology and surface physicochemistry of the oxidation products as a function of MWCNT treatment time, we have revealed two interrelated phenomena.

Stability studies dedicated to high-energy compounds for a series of linear peracids (C-C), including sensitivity to mechanical impulse (shock and friction), as well as electrical (spark) and thermal sensitivity (temperature and heat of decomposition), were presented in this work for the first time. Studies revealed that all peracids were insensitive to shock, while in the case of the other sensitivity tests sharp differences between results for C and C peracids were observed. Taking into account the relatively high initial temperature of decomposition (above 64 °C) perdecanoic acid was selected as a safe alternative to commonly used hazardous short-chain peracids.
