Bisphenol A is a plastic component, which shows endocrine activity that is detrimental to humans and aquatic ecosystems. The elimination of BPA from the environment is one of the solutions for BPA contaminant management. Adsorption is a cost-effective, easy-to-use method generating low harmful byproducts; nevertheless, contaminant sorbent treatment is a challenge that still needs to be addressed.

Unlabelled: The agar dilution method (ADM) recommended for IV fosfomycin (IV FOS) is complex and labor-intensive. Keeping in mind the reality of everyday laboratory work, we have evaluated the agreement of IV FOS susceptibility results obtained using the E-test and the Phoenix system with the results obtained using the ADM.
Materials And Methods: The tests were performed on 860 strains.

Biofilms are surface-attached, structured microbial communities displaying higher tolerance to antimicrobial agents in comparison to planktonic cells. An estimated 80% of all infections are thought to be biofilm-related. The drying pipeline of new antibiotics efficient against biofilm-forming pathogens urges the search for alternative routes of treatment.

Inefficiency of medical therapies used in order to cure patients with bacterial infections requires not only to actively look for new therapeutic strategies but also to carefully select antibiotics based on variety of parameters, including microbiological. Minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) defines in vitro levels of susceptibility or resistance of specific bacterial strains to applied antibiotic. Reliable assessment of MIC has a significant impact on the choice of a therapeutic strategy, which affects efficiency of an infection therapy.

The global concern related with growing number of bacterial pathogens, resistant to numerous antibiotics, prone scientific environment to search for new antimicrobials. Antiseptics appear to be suitable candidates as adjunctive agents to antibiotics or alternative local treatment option aiming to prevent and treat infections. 1,2-benzothiazines are considered one the most promising of them.

Probiotics are live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host. Although their mechanism of action is not clearly explained, it is known that they positively modulate the immune system, which leads to immunity potentiation. A number of studies prove that probiotics strengthen cognitive functions, reduce anxiety, and regulate the lipid metabolism in the human body.

Aim: This multicenter randomized placebo-controlled double-blind clinical trial investigated which maintenance dose shows the optimal benefit-risk ratio for subcutaneous immunotherapy with a Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus allergoid preparation.
Objective: To evaluate four maintenance doses of the allergoid preparation versus placebo.
Methods: The late-phase reaction of the intracutaneous test was chosen as efficacy parameter and minimal dose of fluticasone required for asthma control.

The aim of the work was the evaluation of selected biological and physicochemical, applicative properties of ethylated ascorbic acid (AAE) compared to ascorbic acid (AA). Thermogravimetry (TG), differential thermogravimetry (DTG), and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were conducted, followed by the evaluation of AAE decomposition by the UV-Vis spectroscopic method including the influence of temperature and pH. Scavenging, antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity against L929 fibroblasts were also performed.

Background: With the growing number of pharmacological agents available nowadays, the gastrointestinal drug-induced side effects become more common than ever. However, drug-induced pancreatitis belongs to rather seldom reported adverse drug reactions, probably because of the difficulty in proving the relationship between an inflammation of the pancreas and the pharmacotherapy with a certain drug.
Aim: The aim of this review is to draw attention to an infrequent but real problem of drug-induced acute pancreatitis associated with medications commonly used in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders.

Hydrophilic intravaginal tablets based on methylcellulose and containing lactic acid component with chitosan undergo swelling under standard conditions. A high flow-limit of the gel that originates from the tablets as well as its dynamic viscosity should allow for the durable dosage form in the vagina. By choosing the 1:1 ratio of lactic acid to chitosan, it is possible to obtain tablets disintegrating into a gelform at physiological pH range of 3.

Intravaginal tablets based on hydrophilic methylcellulose and containing lactic acid complexed with chitosan undergo deformation under standard conditions. The high flow--limit of the gel originating from the tablets as well as its dynamic viscosity should ensure the durability of this dosage form on the vaginal mucosa. By selecting either ratios of lactic acid to chitosan of 1:1 or 2:1 it is possible to obtain tablets that disintegrate into a gel form at pH 3.

Triethanolamine is an ethanolamine used as counter-ion for fatty acid soaps. Interaction between triethanolamine and free fatty acids is suggested to be useful for cleansing sebaceous follicles in acne prevention. This study describes the preliminary assessment of alginic acid as a factor buffering triethanolamine interacting with stearic acid--a compound of artificial skin sebum.
