External pancreatic ductal stenting in minimally invasive pancreatoduodenectomy: How to do it?

It has been shown that external pancreatic ductal stenting (EPDS) can reduce the incidence of clinically relevant postoperative pancreatic fistula. Although studies have described EPDS in open pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), EPDS in minimally invasive PD has not been reported yet. Thus, the objective of this study was to describe the technique of EPDS in minimally invasive PD.

Effectiveness of Hyaluronic Acid Gel Injection with and without PRGF for Management of Interdental Papillary Loss: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

Background: To evaluate the effectiveness of hyaluronic acid (HA) gel injection with and without plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) for the management of interdental papillary loss.

Methods: A single blinded randomized clinical trial was carried out on 21 subjects with 34 sites. Patients within the age group 18-45 years who had Class I and II papillary recession in the maxillary anterior region were selected.

cell line model systems are essential in supporting the research community due to their low cost, uniform culturing conditions, homogeneous biological resources, and easy experimental design to study the cause and effect of a gene or a molecule. Human leukemia 60 (HL60) is an hematopoietic model system that has been used for decades to study normal myeloid differentiation and leukemia biology. Here, we show that IMDM supplemented with 20% FBS is an optimal culturing condition and induces effective myeloid differentiation compared with RPMI supplemented with 10% FBS when HL60 is induced with 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (Vit D3) and retinoic acid (ATRA).

Knowledge, Awareness and Prevalence of Hepatitis B Among Urban Slum Dwellers and Residents of Social Welfare Home: A Cross sectional Study From Eastern India.

Background/aims: In view of limited data on the knowledge and awareness of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the available preventive strategies at the community level, it was aimed to analyse the knowledge and awareness of HBV in the community.

Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire-based survey was conducted among residents of an urban slum and a social welfare home in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from October 2019 to April 2021. The prevalence of HBV infection was also measured by testing the serum positivity for hepatitis B surface antigen using rapid point-of-care test kits.

Vitamin D in the Treatment of Oral Lichen Planus: A Systematic Review.

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic mucocutaneous condition that affects up to 2% of the general population, and typically presents with long-standing, non-responsive lesions, with episodes of exacerbation and remissions. The etiopathogenesis of OLP is still unclear, although, it has been postulated that it is most likely a T-cell-mediated condition of an unknown antigen. The treatment remains a challenge with no defined treatment strategy.

Comparison of dexmedetomidine alone with dexmedetomidine and fentanyl during awake fiberoptic intubation in patients with difficult airway: a randomized clinical trial.

Background: Awake fiberoptic intubation (AFOI) is the procedure of choice for securing the airway in patients with a difficult airway when undergoing surgeries under general anesthesia. An ideal drug would not only provide conscious sedation but also maintain spontaneous ventilation, smooth intubation conditions, and stable hemodynamics. We compared the effects of dexmedetomidine alone and dexmedetomidine in combination with fentanyl at a dose lower than the standard dose for achieving conscious sedation during AFOI in difficult airway patients undergoing oral cancer and dental surgeries.

HIV-Associated Systemic Sclerosis: Literature Review and a Rare Case Report.

Highly antiretroviral therapy (HAART) used in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) treatment may prolong the life span of people living with HIV/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) but may also induce the onset of autoimmune disorders. However, HIV-associated systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an extremely rare occurrence, and only four case reports and two studies documenting this association have been reported to date. We report a rare case of HIV-associated SSc who was referred to us for pain management in her mandibular teeth.
