Kathajodi, the principal southern distributary of the Mahanadi River, is the vital source of irrigation and domestic water use for densely populated Cuttack city which receives anthropogenic wastes abundantly. This study assesses the contamination level and primary health status of urban wastewater, and its receiving river Kathajodi based on the physicochemical quality indices employing inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy and aligning with guidelines from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and WHO. The high WQI, HPI, and HEI in the catchment area (KJ2, KJ3, and KJ4) indicate poor water quality due to the influx of domestic waste through the primary drainage system and effluents of healthcare units.

Nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) is a star material in drug delivery applications due to its good biocompatibility, large specific surface area, high tensile strength (TS), and high hydrophilicity. Poly(Vinyl Alcohol)/Gellan-gum-based innovative composite film has been prepared using nanocrystalline cellulose (PVA/GG/NCC) as a strengthening agent for ocular delivery of moxifloxacin (MOX) via solvent casting method. Impedance analysis was studied using the capacitive sensing technique for examining new capacitance nature of the nanocomposite MOX film.

, commonly known as "Indian bay leaf" or "Tejpat", is an economically important plant widely used in medicine, food and cosmetic industries. Growing demand for its leaf and bark in the herbal trade and non-availability of quality materials lead to large-scale species admixture and adulteration in the global market. The present study aims at developing a validated HPLC-DAD (High-performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detection) method and multiple markers-based chemical fingerprints for quality evaluation of leaf extracts.

Prediction of binding sites for transcription factors is important to understand how the latter regulate gene expression and how this regulation can be modulated for therapeutic purposes. A consistent number of references address this issue with different approaches, Machine Learning being one of the most successful. Nevertheless, we note that many such approaches fail to propose a robust and meaningful method to embed the genetic data under analysis.

The primary factor underlying the virulence of Candida albicans is its capacity to form biofilms, which in turn leads to recurrent complications. Over-the-counter antifungal treatments have proven ineffective in eliminating fungal biofilms and the inflammatory cytokines produced during fungal infections. Chitosan nanoparticles offer broad and versatile therapeutic potential as both antifungal agents and carriers for antifungal drugs to combat biofilm-associated Candida infections.

One of the factors that worry obstetricians the most is the method of delivery. In recent years, the rate of caesarean sections has steadily climbed and now exceeds the threshold advised by medical organizations. Obstetricians typically lack the tools they need to assess whether vaginal delivery or a caesarean delivery is more appropriate.

Many industrial effluents release cyanide, a well-known hazardous and bio-recalcitrant pollutant, and thus, the treatment of cyanide wastewater is a major challenge. In the current study, a CuFeO-SnO-rGO nanocomposite was synthesized to remove cyanide from an aqueous system. The structural and morphological characterizations of the nanomaterials were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectra (EDX) analysis.

Managing bone healing is essential for preventing problems such as non-union, bacterial infection, structural instability, psychological, and physical damage in patients. The need to use antibiotics less often has prompted researchers to look at possible substitutes, such as nanoparticles. In this investigation, we choose to employ cerium oxide nanoparticles due to their unique antibacterial properties based on redox reactions.

The physiological mechanism of bone tissue regeneration is intricately organized and involves several cell types, intracellular, and extracellular molecular signaling networks. To overcome the drawbacks of autografts and allografts, a number of synthetically produced scaffolds have been manufactured by integrating ceramics, polymers, and their hybrid-composites. Considering the fact that natural bone is composed primarily of collagen and hydroxyapatite, ceramic-polymer composite materials seem to be the most viable alternative to bone implants.
