In advanced-stage colorectal cancer (CRC), a strategy based on a sequence of systemic therapies brings survival benefits in most patients. Trifluridine and tipiracil hydrochloride (TT) is a chemotherapy drug effective in patients in the third- or later line setting. No highly specific biomarkers have been established for TT therapy so far.

In the last decade, an increasing interest in compounds containing pyrazolo[4,3-][1,2,4]triazine moiety is observed. Therefore, the aim of the research was to synthesise a novel sulphonyl pyrazolo[4,3-][1,2,4]triazines (, ) and pyrazolo[4,3-]tetrazolo[1,5-][1,2,4]triazine sulphonamide derivatives (, ) to assess their anticancer activity. The MTT assay showed that , , , have stronger cytotoxic activity than cisplatin in both breast cancer cells (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231) and exhibited weaker effect on normal breast cells (MCF-10A).

Dysbiosis of the microbiota in the gastrointestinal tract can induce the development of gynaecological tumours, particularly in postmenopausal women, by causing DNA damage and alterations in metabolite metabolism. Dysbiosis also complicates cancer treatment by influencing the body's immune response and disrupting the sensitivity to chemotherapy drugs. Therefore, it is crucial to maintain homeostasis in the gut microbiota through the effective use of food components that affect its structure.

In ancient times, Dunal was used as a therapeutic plant for the treatment of several diseases. This report aims to examine the effect of -mediated transformation of with the gene to enhance secondary metabolite production, antioxidant activity, and anticancer activity of transformed tissues. Before transgenic plant production, the authors designed an efficient methodology for transformation.

Introduction: Over the past three decades, almost every type of abdominal surgery has been performed and refined using the laparoscopic technique. Surgeons are applying it for more procedures, which not so long ago were performed only in the classical way. The position of laparoscopic surgery is therefore well established, and in many operations it is currently the recommended and dominant method.

Nowadays, organometallic complexes receive particular attention because of their use in the design of pure nanoscale metal structures. In the present work, we present results obtained from a series of studies on the degradation of metal(II) bis(acetylacetonate)s induced by low-energy electrons. These slow particles induce the formation of the acetylacetonate anion, [acac], and the parent anion as the most dominant species at incident electron energies near 0 eV.

Fertility rate and hatchability rate are low for all types of double-yolk (DY) eggs in comparison to single-yolk eggs (SY), but these parameters also depend on the number of developing embryos in the egg. The hatchability rate of double-yolk eggs containing two developing embryos (DY2F) is vastly lower than in the case of double-yolk eggs containing only one embryo (DY1F). The aim of the study was to determine the differences between egg fertility rate, hatchability rate, time of embryonic mortality, and embryo malposition during incubation in three types of eggs from Hy-Line Brown hens: SY, DY1F and DY2F.

The combination of ketogenic diet (KD) with intermittent fasting (IF) has, for years, aroused a great interest in the scientific world and among healthy lifestyle enthusiasts. Its importance is even greater when the study subjects are physically active individuals. The aim of the study was a determination of the effect of strict calculated ketogenic menu combined with IF and with caloric deficit on the selected biochemical markers and body composition in a 23-year-old man performing strength training.

Birds wintering in the northern Palearctic compensate for substantial energy losses and prepare for a food deficit in winter by adjusting their foraging behavior. Apart from weather conditions, interspecific competition also drives hunting strategies. To describe this phenomenon, we observed the behavior of two sympatrically wintering raptor species: the Common Buzzard and the Rough-legged Buzzard.

8-oxo-Guanine is a mutagenic lesion produced by reactions involving reactive oxygen species and guanine in DNA. Its production induces mispairing between the canonical nucleobases during DNA replication such that various types of cancers are associated with the DNA lesion. Since radiation therapy is used in some cases, the interaction of low-energy electrons with 8-oxo-guanine can in turn produce other reactive species, which in principle could have either a detrimental or protective effect on the organism.

Hematological analysis is commonly used to assess the physiological state of fish. It includes red blood cell parameters, white blood cell parameters, and the number of thrombocytes per blood volume unit. Hematological analysis is one of the basic tools (often accompanied by biochemical and histopathological analyses) to assess the influence of organic and inorganic substances on fish.

The most common and increasing causes of death worldwide are cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Taking into account the fact that diet is a key factor, it is worth exploring this aspect of CVD prevention and therapy. The aim of this article is to assess the potential of the ketogenic diet in the prevention and treatment of CVD.

Simmons-Smith cyclopropanation is a widely used reaction in organic synthesis for stereospecific conversion of alkenes into cyclopropane. The utility of this reaction can be realized by the fact that the cyclopropane motif is a privileged synthetic intermediate and a core structural unit of many biologically active natural compounds such as terpenoids, alkaloids, nucleosides, amino acids, fatty acids, polyketides and drugs. The modified form of Simmons-Smith cyclopropanation involves the employment of EtZn and CHI (Furukawa reagent) toward the total synthesis of a variety of structurally complex natural products that possess broad range of biological activities including anticancer, antimicrobial and antiviral activities.

Background: Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA or aspirin) is one of the world's most widely used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Numerous studies have shown that the long-term use of aspirin may contribute to longer survival among patients with various types of cancer, including ovarian cancer.
Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of ASA on myeloperoxidase (MPO), which is found at an elevated level in women with ovarian cancer, among others.

Numerous epidemiological studies report an increased risk of developing prostate cancer in patients with melanoma and an increased risk of developing melanoma in patients with prostate cancer. Based on our previous studies demonstrating the high anticancer activity of thiosemicarbazides with a phenoxy moiety, we designed nineteen phenoxyacetylthiosemicarbazide derivatives and four of them acting as potential dual-ligands for both cancers. All of the compounds were characterized by their melting points and H, C NMR and IR spectra.
