Background: Studies show mixed results regarding the effect of coronary revascularization on mortality benefit and ventricular tachycardia (VT) recurrence in patients with monomorphic VT without acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This meta-analysis aimed to assess the effect of ischemia testing and/or coronary revascularization on mortality and VT recurrence in a pooled data set.
Methods: Databases including PubMed, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library were searched from January 2000 to December 2023 for studies reporting event data on mortality and VT recurrence in patients without ACS who presented with monomorphic VT.

Quality improvement collaboratives (QICs) use their collective experiences from participating centers to accelerate the translation of evidence into practice, resulting in reduced variation and improved clinical outcomes. There are several regional, national, and international QICs in neonatology. In this review, we discuss the framework and evaluate national QICs primarily based in US and share the contributions of selected studies.

Background: Excessive perioperative bleeding is associated with major complications in cardiac surgery, resulting in increased morbidity, mortality, and cost.
Methods: An international expert panel was convened to develop consensus statements on the control of bleeding and management of transfusion and to suggest key quality metrics for cardiac surgical bleeding. The panel reviewed relevant literature from the previous 10 years and used a modified RAND Delphi methodology to achieve consensus.

Introduction: Despite advances in the diagnosis and therapeutics strategies for pulmonary hypertension (PH) in patients with end-stage liver disease (ESLD), the impact of hemodynamic patterns among ESLD patients identified through right heart catheterization (RHC) on clinical outcomes remains poorly understood.
Methods: This single-center retrospective cohort study identified patients diagnosed with ESLD who underwent RHC from August 2018 to June 2023. Demographic and clinical data, including comorbidities, transthoracic echocardiography, and RHC findings, were obtained.

Introduction: African Americans/Blacks (AAB) are at increased risk for morbidity and mortality from smoking-related diseases including lung cancer (LC). Smoking stigma is believed to be a primary barrier to health care-seeking for people who smoke. Previous studies illustrate that perceptions of smoking vary across populations.

Objective: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is characterized by widespread organ inflammation. Metformin, commonly used for diabetes mellitus type 2, has been explored for its anti-inflammatory potential in SLE. This study investigates the association of metformin use on renal and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with SLE.

There are many nonpharmacological pain management services available to hospitalized youth; however, not all youth are offered these services. Lack of knowledge about resources, difficulty with the referral process, and lack of understanding about nonpharmacological pain management services and when to refer patients are among the main reasons for lack of utilization. Quality improvement (QI) initiatives have grown within hospital settings and can serve to create change in fast-paced environments.

Background: Insulin resistance and lipotoxicity are extremely interconnected but fundamental in setting the stage for the development of MASLD/MASH.
Aim/methods: A comprehensive literature search was performed and key themes were synthesised to provide insight into the underlying molecular mechanisms of insulin resistance and lipotoxicity in the liver, muscle, pancreas and adipose tissue and how organ cross-talk is fundamental to driving disease pathogenesis.
Results: Classical thinking postulates that excess FFA load exceeds the storage capacity of adipose tissue, which is predicated upon both genetic and environmental factors.
BACKGROUND Idiopathic giant cell myocarditis (IGCM) is an uncommon and frequently fatal type of myocarditis. It primarily affects young individuals and has the potential to result in heart failure and life-threatening arrhythmias. IGCM seems to be dependent on activation of CD4-positive T lymphocytes and can show improvement with treatment aimed at reducing T-cell function.

Blepharitis is a common ophthalmic condition with multiple etiologies and no definitive, universal treatment. The treatment modalities for managing lid margin diseases vary depending on the disease's cause, location, and severity. For anterior blepharitis, management options include eyelid hygiene with warm compresses, eyelid scrubs, baby shampoo, and over-the-counter eyelid cleansers.

Background And Objectives: Marijuana use has increased nationally and is the most common federally illicit substance used during pregnancy. This study aimed to describe hospital practices and nursery director knowledge and attitudes regarding marijuana use and breastfeeding and assess the association between breastfeeding restrictions and provider knowledge, geographic region, and state marijuana legalization status. We hypothesized that there would be associations between geography and/or state legalization and hospital practices regarding breastfeeding with perinatal marijuana use.

Background: The TsiogkaSpaeth (TS) grid is a new, low-cost, and easy to access portable test for visual field (VF) screening which could be used by clinicians in everyday clinical practice. Our study aimed to determine the validity of an innovative screening grid test for identifying neurological disease-associated VF defects.
Methods: We enrolled two groups of participants: We assessed the one eye of ten consecutive adult patients with different types of neurological disease associated VF defects and ten eyes of controls in each group.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) will soon be commonplace within the field of cosmetic dermatology. Current uses for AI in the discipline have focused on empowering patients to be more involved in treatment decisions with customizable skin care, augmented-reality applications, and at-home skin analysis tools. AI-driven skin analysis tools are also included in many dermatology practices with the development of three-dimensional facial reconstruction, including models for predicting clinical outcomes.

Recent advances in breast cancer research and treatment propel a paradigm shift toward less aggressive and less invasive treatment for some early-stage breast cancer. Select patients with small, low-risk tumors may benefit from a less aggressive approach with de-escalated local therapy. Cryoablation of breast cancer is an emerging nonsurgical treatment alternative to breast-conserving surgery.

Objective: Despite an equal willingness to participate in clinical trials, there is evidence that several minority populations are systematically under-represented in studies. One potential cause and frequently used exclusionary criterion in orthopedic trials is patients with active workman's compensation (WC) insurance claims. The purpose of this study is to determine demographic differences in patients undergoing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with commercial and government insurance vs workers compensation claims.

This study aims to determine the association of non-essential trace elements present in follicular fluid, plasma, and urine with reproductive outcomes of women undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidies (PGT-A) and single frozen euploid embryo transfer (SET/FET). This single-center, prospective cohort study included sixty women undergoing ICSI with PGT-A and SET/FET between 2018 and 2019. Urine, plasma and follicular fluid samples were collected on the vaginal oocyte retrieval day to simultaneously quantify ten non-essential trace elements (i.
