Cerebral venous thrombosis during relapse of ulcerative colitis: Case report with review of literature.

Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a rare but serious complication of ulcerative colitis (UC) with a high morbidity and mortality rate. CVT is not usually readily recognized and treatment may be delayed, impacting on the prognosis. Here we are reporting 2 cases of CVT occurring during a relapse of ulcerative colitis (UC) with review of literature.

Associations between nutritional factors and KRAS mutations in colorectal cancer: a systematic review.

Background: Between 30 and 50% of colon tumors have mutations in the Kirsten-ras (KRAS) gene, which have a large nutritional attributable risk. Despite its high frequency in colorectal cancer (CRC), data to support specific associations between KRAS mutations in CRC and diet are sparse. Here, we conducted a systematic review to summarize the current epidemiological evidence on the association between various dietary factors and KRAS mutations.

Rheological properties of composite polymers and hybrid nanocomposites.

This paper summarizes a review of the viscosimetric, viscoelastic and rheological properties of polymers and hybrid nanocomposite polymers. Hybrid nanocomposites can be combined from natural fibers or synthetic fibers and/or both. The hybrid nanocomposite polymer offers the designer the opportunity to achieve the required characteristics to a considerable extent controlled by the choice of appropriate fibers or fillers and the polymer architecture.

Environmental Barriers Experienced by People With Spinal Cord Injury Across 22 Countries: Results From a Cross-Sectional Survey.

Objectives: To investigate the experience of environmental barriers by people with spinal cord injury (SCI) across 22 countries. Specific aims were to describe and compare the prevalence of environmental barriers experienced across countries, and to analyze determinants of environmental barriers at individual and country level.

Design: Cross-sectional community survey.

Rheological and Electrical Study of a Composite Material Based on an Epoxy Polymer Containing Cyclotriphosphazene.

In this work, we have studied, formulated, prepared, and characterized the rheological and electrical behavior of a composite material based on an epoxy resin Diglycidyl Ether of Bisphenol A (DGEBA) reinforced with hexaglycidyl cyclotriphosphazene (HGCP). The epoxy system was cured with 4,4'-methylene dianiline (MDA). DGEBA-HGCP-MDA epoxy composite materials with reinforced HGCP which varied from 5% to 10% by weight were prepared by mixing in the molten state.

Development and potential performance of prepolymer in corrosion inhibition for carbon steel in 1.0 M HCl: Outlooks from experimental and computational investigations.

Diglycidyl amino benzene (DGAB) epoxy prepolymer was investigated using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Then, we highlighted the usefulness of DGAB epoxy prepolymer to improve the resistance of carbon steel (CS) in hydrochloric acid (1.0 M HCl) using weight loss (WL), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), density functional theory (DFT) and complexation calculations, molecular dynamics (MD) and meansquaredisplacement (MSD) simulations.

Stroke Mimics: Experience of a Moroccan Stroke Unit.

Background: Stroke mimic is a medical condition presenting with acute neurological deficit and simulate real stroke. The objective of this study was to evaluate the frequency and the various etiologies of stroke mimics in our center.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the Thrombolysis Alert registry and we studied the frequency and characteristics of patients with stroke mimic.

Anticorrosive properties of Hexa (3-methoxy propan-1,2-diol) cyclotri-phosphazene compound for carbon steel in 3% NaCl medium: gravimetric, electrochemical, DFT and Monte Carlo simulation studies.

The corrosion inhibition performance of Hexa (3-methoxy propan-1,2 diol) cyclotriphosphazene (HMC) on carbon steel in 3% NaCl solution was investigated by weight loss (WL), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements, Density functional theory (DFT) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. The corrosion inhibition efficiency at optimum concentration (10M) is 99% of HMC at 298 K. The corrosion inhibition efficiency at 10 M decreases with increase in temperature.

Limbic encephalitis: Experience of a moroccan center.

Objectives: Histologically defined as an inflammation-degeneration of limbic structures, limbic encephalitis (LE) is a rare disease and often difficult to diagnose particularly in institutions with limited access to laboratory tests such as antineuronal antibodies or HSV-PCR, and functional imaging. We aimed to describe the demographic, clinical, paraclinical, and etiological features of LE, as well as its medium-term prognosis in Moroccan patients.

Materials And Methods: We collected retrospectively all patients diagnosed with LE in the Department of Neurology of the University Hospital Hassan II of Fez (Morocco) between September 2008 and December 2016.

Thrombolysis Alert in Hassan II University Teaching Hospital of Fez (Morocco): A Prospective Study of 2 Years.

Background: Thrombolysis alert (TA) is a procedure triggered every time a patient consults for sudden focal neurological deficit within 4.5 hours.

Objective: We aimed to determine firstly the etiological profile of TA and secondly to evaluate the delays in the management not only of thrombolyzed patients but also of nonthrombolyzed patients to determine the intrahospital delays to optimize.

Psychoactive substances use and associated factors among middle and high school students in the North Center of Morocco: a cross-sectional questionnaire survey.

Background: Data on psychoactive substance (PAS) consumption among adolescents in the North Center of Morocco are not at all available. Therefore, the current study aimed at investigating the prevalence and the determinants of psychoactive substances use among middle and high school students in this region.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from April 2012 to November 2013 in public middle and high schools in the North Central Region of Morocco.

The Monoterpene Carvacrol Generates Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in the Pathogenic Fungus Candida albicans.

The monoterpene carvacrol, the major component of oregano and thyme oils, is known to exert potent antifungal activity against the pathogenic yeast Candida albicans. This monoterpene has been the subject of a considerable number of investigations that uncovered extensive pharmacological properties, including antifungal and antibacterial effects. However, its mechanism of action remains elusive.

Benign cystic mesothelioma of the peritoneum: a case report and literature review.

Benign cystic mesothelioma of the peritoneum (BCM) is an uncommon lesion with some 130 cases reported since the first case described by Smith and Mennenmeyer in 1979. It is a rare intra abdominal tumor occurring predominantly in women of reproductive age. Due to the rarity of this tumor, similarity of patient presentation, and comparable features on imaging, the diagnosis of this pathology is difficult, and is based on histological findings.
