Introduction: Tobacco use is the major preventable cause of premature death worldwide, responsible for about 8 million deaths per year, mostly in low- and middle-income countries, such as Morocco. Adolescents' tobacco use is a matter of concern, because early initiation increases the risk of becoming a lifelong user. There exists a notable gap in the synthesis of evidence concerning tobacco use among Moroccan adolescents.

Cerebellar liponeurocytoma is a rare WHO grade II glioneuronal tumor, characterized by a benign course and a more favorable prognosis. In this paper, we report a 52-year-old man, hospitalized in emergency because of clinical signs of increased intracranial pressure, and gait disturbances. The MRI revealed a lateral well shaped solid lesion within the left cerebellar hemisphere, having a low signal intensity compared to the cerebrospinal fluid, and causing a triventicular hydrocephalus and tonsillar herniation.

5-bromopyridine-2,3-diamine reacted with benzaldehyde to afford the corresponding 6-Bromo-2-phenyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (). The reaction of the latter compound () with a series of halogenated derivatives under conditions of phase transfer catalysis solid-liquid (CTP) allows the isolation of the expected regioisomers compounds (-). The alkylation reaction of (1) gives, each time, two regioisomers, N3 and N4; in the case of ethyl bromoactate, the reaction gives, at the same time, the three N1, N3 and N4 regioisomers.

Synthesis, Characterization, DFT Mechanistic Study, Antimicrobial Activity, Molecular Modeling, and ADMET Properties of Novel Pyrazole-isoxazoline Hybrids.

ACS Omega

December 2022

Engineering Laboratory of Organometallic, Molecular, Materials and Environment, Faculty of Sciences Dhar EL Mahraz, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, P.O. Box 1796, 30000 Fez, Morocco.

A series of new heterocycle hybrids incorporating pyrazole and isoxazoline rings was successfully synthesized, characterized, and evaluated for their antimicrobial responses. The synthesized compounds were obtained utilizing -alkylation and 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions, as well as their structures were established through spectroscopic methods and confirmed by mass spectrometry. To get more light on the regioselective synthesis of new hybrid compounds, mechanistic studies were performed using DFT calculations with B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) basis set.

The goal of this work was to develop polymer-based heterocycle for water purification from toxic pesticides such as difenoconazole. The polymer chosen for this purpose was cellulose nanocrystalline (CNC); two cellulose based heterocycles were prepared by crosslinking with 2,6-pyridine dicarbonyl dichloride (Cell-X), and derivatizing with 2-furan carbonyl chloride (Cell-D). The synthesized cellulose-based heterocycles were characterized by SEM, proton NMR, TGA and FT-IR spectroscopy.

Intravenous thrombolysis with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) is the first effective approved treatment for reducing ischemic stroke disability, and having a stroke within 3 months is usually a contraindication to thrombolysis. In this paper, we describe the case of a 58-year-old patient who received repeated intravenous thrombolysis at 10 days interval for a recurrent ischemic stroke, with dramatic improvement. The carotid diaphragm was behind this recurrent stroke and it was treated by stenting.
