Effectiveness of intraoperative periarticular cocktail injection for pain control and knee motion recovery after total knee replacement.

Background: Pain control after total knee replacement (TKR) is pivotal in postoperative rehabilitation. Usage of epidural analgesia or parenteral opioids can cause undesirable side effects hampering early recovery and rehabilitation. These side effects can be avoided by infiltration of an analgesic cocktail locally.

Short to Midterm Follow-Up of Periprosthetic Bone Mineral Density after Total Hip Arthroplasty with the Ribbed Anatomic Stem.

Background: Femoral bone remodeling around hip prosthesis after total hip arthroplasty (THA) is definite but unpredictable in time and place. This study aimed to investigate the implant-specific remodeling and periprosthetic bone mineral density (BMD) changes after implantation of the Ribbed anatomic cementless femoral stem.

Methods: After power analysis, 41 patients who had undergone primary unilateral THA with the Ribbed anatomic cementless stem were included.

Management of congenital and acquired H-type anorectal fistulae in girls by anterior sagittal anorectovaginoplasty.

Methods: Thirteen girls with congenital or acquired H-type anorectal fistulae underwent surgery between 1991 and 1996. In all cases, besides a normally placed anal canal, there was a fistulous communication between the anorectum and the genital tract. On the basis of the level of fistulous communication, these cases were divided into three groups: high, intermediate, and low (perineal canal).
