With the increasing demand for clean energy sources, the need for large-scale energy storage systems to ensure the stable output of renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, has also increased. Sodium-ion batteries have emerged as a potential solution for these storage systems owing to their high energy density, abundance in the Earth's crust, and low cost. However, the larger atomic radius of sodium ions results in higher energy barriers for ion migration in cathode materials, which can affect the cycle life and rate performance of the battery.

Chicken claw products with their unique texture are loved by consumers, and cooking is a key step to affect the taste of chicken claw consumption, through the moderate hydrolysis of proteins and a series of physicochemical changes, so that the chicken claw gets tender and presents a crispy taste, but the current research on the optimal cooking conditions for chicken claw is still relatively small. In the present work, combinations of time (11, 13, 15, 17, and 19 min) and temperature (82, 86, 90, 94, and 98°C) were applied to the cooking of chicken claws. The effects of different cooking conditions on the quality characteristics of chicken claws were investigated, with special emphasis on the cooking loss rate, color, texture properties, lipid oxidation, myofibrillar fragmentation index (MFI), and total sulfhydryl content.

The discovery of novel and highly effective P-gp inhibitors is considered to be an effective strategy for overcoming tumor drug resistance. In this paper, a phenotypic screening a self-constructed synthetic methodology-based library identified a new class of tricyclic spiroindole derivatives with excellent tumor multidrug resistance reversal activity. A stereospecific compound OY-103-B with the best reversal activity was obtained based on a detailed structure-activity relationship study, metabolic stability optimization and chiral resolution.

To realize the precise modulation among the cesium lead halide perovskite-related phases is one of the most fascinating subjects and has motivated increasing research. The formation mechanisms of different phases of cesium lead halide have not been fully recognized. In this work, we reported the phase-selective synthesis of CsPbBr nanorods and CsPbBr nanocrystals (NCs) in amine-free systems, simply by adjusting the dosage of oleic acid (OA).

Rapid and accurate identification of bacteria is essential to ensure food safety and prevent pathogenic bacterial infection. In this study, a highly efficient method was established for accurately identifying bacterial species by applying Ag NP-filter paper based Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) analysis and Partial Least Squares-Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA) statistical methods. The flexible Ag NP filter paper substrate with high sensitivity and uniformity was prepared by a facile and low-cost silver mirror reaction at room temperature, which exhibited desirable SERS activity in bacteria detection.

Based on the gas-liquid phase chemiluminescence tester independently developed by our laboratory, a highly sensitive, fast and accurate on-line detection method of formaldehyde gas in ambient atmosphere is established. The chemiluminescence system and the trace formaldehyde gas in the air directly undergo an interface heterogeneous chemiluminescence reaction to obtain a strong chemiluminescence signal. Through the measurement of the chemiluminescence signal intensity, a highly sensitive, real-time and on-line method for the determination of formaldehyde in the air was established.

State Key Laboratory of NBC Protection for Civilian Beijing P. R. China

An organobase-catalyzed 1,1-diborylation of terminal alkynes from propargylic derivatives with bis(2,4-dimethylpentane-2,4-glycolato)diboron (Boct) is first reported, regioselectively providing 1,1-diborylalkene products with high efficiency. The catalytic pathway is well postulated on the basis of DFT calculations.

Membrane surface fouling is a key problem for water filtration. Compositing photocatalytic substances with a base membrane is a widely used strategy, but most of the membrane will be decomposed by photocatalysis. Herein, expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) with extremely stable chemical properties is grafted with polyacrylic acid (PAA) and then modified with titanium dioxide (TiO) to realize a self-cleaning TiO-PAA-ePTFE filtration membrane.

In this paper, a simple and cost-efficient strategy was used to construct a uniform Au NPs distribution on the surface of flexible filter paper for the detection of benzidine. Taking full advantage of the adsorption properties of filter paper, small gold nanoparticles were adsorbed onto its surface as gold seeds, and subsequently grown by electroless plating to form a highly uniform distribution of Au NPs substrates. By changing the electroless plating time, an optimal substrate was obtained.

Article Synopsis
  • * Different FG variants were created by treating graphene oxide (GO) with nitrogen trifluoride (NF) gas and then mixed into the EP to form various composites.
  • * Results showed that adding FG significantly improved the hydrophobic properties of the epoxy coating, leading to a coating resistance that was 1000 times greater than that of plain epoxy after long-term immersion, enhancing its durability against corrosion.

The effects of harmful algal blooms (HABs) on nutrient dynamics have been extensively studied; however, the response of nitrogen to continuous HAB degradation and subsequent reoccurrence is not well understood. Here, a small-scale experiment was conducted to assess how nitrogen in the sediment-water interface (SWI) responds to HAB degradation and subsequent reoccurrence at different initial algal densities. The results showed that during the algae decomposition stage, the NH -N flux of the SWI remained positive but decreased with the increase in algal density from 3.

College of Materials Science and Engineering, Sichuan University No. 24, South 1st Section, 1st Ring Road Chengdu 610065 PR China +86-28-85413003 +86-28-85413003.

As desirable contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxides (USPIOs) are required to exhibit both low cytotoxicity and specific targetability besides superparamagnetism to achieve better imaging contrast at lower dose, and cladding with biocompatible polymers and modification with targeting ligands are considered to be the most effective strategies. In this study, novel dextran wrapped and peptide WSGPGVWGASVK (peptide-WSG) grafted USPIOs were meticulously prepared and systematically characterized. Firstly, dextran (Dex) cladded USPIOs (USPIOs@Dex) were synthesized with a well-designed co-precipitation procedure in which the biocompatible dextran played dual roles of grain inhibitor and cladding agent.

Velcro, the most typical hook-loop interlocker, often suffers from undesirable deformation, breaking, and noise because of the structure of the hook. Inspired by the arrester system of dragonfly, a new mechanical interlocker with a nylon pestle instead of the traditional hook is developed. The pestle-loop mechanical interlocker shows a tunable peeling force from 0.

Recently, solid-state electrolyte lithium lanthanum zirconium oxide garnet (LiLaZrO, LLZO) has attracted great attention due to its high room temperature conductivity of lithium ions and stability against lithium metal electrodes. The Al-doped cubic garnet LiAlLaZrO was synthesized by a conventional solid-state method at different sintering temperatures. The influence of the sintering process on the structure and ionic conductivity was investigated by X-ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy.
