Photocatalysis technology has been widely adopted to abate typical air pollutants. Nevertheless, developing photocatalysts aimed at improving photocatalytic efficiency is a challenge. We propose an imaging method based on optical fiber bundle combined with micro-scanning technique for improving image quality without complex image reconstruction algorithms. In the proposed method, a piezoelectric-ceramic-chip is used as the micro-displacement driver of the optical fiber bundle, which has the advantages of small volume, fast response speed and high precision. The corresponding displacement of the optical fiber bundle can be generated by precise voltage controlling.

Waste cotton sheets (WCS) are promising cellulose sources due to their high content of cellulose and large amount of disposal every year, which could be recycled and employed as low-cost structural materials. The present work aims at investigating the efficacy of hydrogel adsorbents prepared from regenerated WCS as the carriers of activated carbon (AC) for treating the dye-contaminated water. Activated WCS was directly dissolved in lithium chloride/,-dimethylacetamide (LiCl/DMAc) solvent and then regenerated into cellulose hydrogels, which were employed as three-dimensional biodegradable matrices for loading an extremely high content of AC (up to 5000%).

To improve the sensitivity of disease biomarker detection, we proposed a high-performance surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) chip integrated with a micro-optical system (MOS). The MOS, which is based on the micro-reflecting cavity and the micro-lens, optimizes the optical matching characteristics of the SERS substrate and the Raman detection system, and greatly improves the SERS detection sensitivity by improving the collection efficiency of the Raman scattering signal. A uniform single layer of silver nanoparticles on a gold film was prepared as the SERS substrate using a liquid-liquid interface self-assembly method.

In recent years, fluorescent probes based on chemical reactions have been widely investigated as a powerful and noninvasive method for the diagnosis of diseases. β-Galactosidase (β-gal), a typical lysosomal glycosidase, over expressed in senescent cells and primary ovarian cancer cells, which has been considered as an important biomarker cell senescence and primary ovarian cancers. Fluorescent probes for the determination of β-gal provide an excellent choice for visualization of cell senescence.

In this research, we propose a novel microlens surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrate @ Au film detection system, which is shown to have excellent attributes. This scheme involves the construction of a PDMS plano-convex microlens SERS-active substrate in combination with an Au film. Due to the optical convergence from the microlens, the synergistic enhancement effects due to the Au film, and the "Au film-molecules-AgNPs" sandwich structure, an outstanding SERS performance is achieved.

Amoxicillin in the municipal water system needs to be removed due to the toxicity towards creatures. On Fe(100), CO molecules can get activated efficiently so that CO bond breaking occurs with its transition state in close connection to the adsorbate. The CO bonding thus serves as a prototype model, nicely representing a balance of two simultaneous processes, namely, bond making with the surface and bond breaking within the adsorbate. Such unique configuration highlighting the interplay of two fundamental processes in one adsorption geometry, about which chemists have often fantasized, provides a viable solution to understand the very fundamental aspects of chemistry exemplified in a broad range of disciplines.
