Background: Whether segmentectomy is appropriate for stage IA non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), especially for stage IA NSCLC with a tumor size of 2-3 cm, remains controversial. Thus, we conducted this meta-analysis to compare segmentectomy and lobectomy for stage IA NSCLC with a tumor size of 2-3 cm and IA ≤2 cm NSCLC.
Methods: A systematic screening of online databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library) was conducted regarding the terms of perioperative outcomes, overall survival (OS), recurrence-free survival (RFS), and disease-free survival (DFS).

Background: Indocyanine green (ICG) is a nontoxic, albumin-bound, liver-metabolized fluorescent iodide dye that has been widely utilized in clinical applications since the mid-1950s. However, after the 1970s, in-depth research on the fluorescence properties of ICG greatly expanded its application in the medical field.
Methods: In our mini-review, we searched the relevant literature on common oncology surgeries from PubMed, including lung cancer, breast cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, and pituitary tumors, using keywords such as indocyanine green, fluorescence imaging technology, and near-infrared fluorescence imaging.

Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in surgery face methodological challenges, which often result in low quality or failed trials. The Idea, Development, Exploration, Assessment and Long-term (IDEAL) framework proposes preliminary prospective collaborative cohort studies with specific properties (IDEAL 2b studies) to increase the quality and feasibility of surgical RCTs. Little empirical evidence exists for this proposition, and specifically designed 2b studies are currently uncommon.

Introduction: The incidence of postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) following thoracic surgery is high, which increases the mortality rate, prolongs the length of hospital stay and increases medical costs. Some studies have confirmed that preoperative risk assessment, intraoperative anaesthesia methods and intraoperative mechanical ventilation strategies, including recruitment manoeuvres (RMs), can reduce the incidence of PPCs. Despite these improved strategies, the incidence of PPCs remains high.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between hypothyroidism and thrombocytopenia in hepatitis B-related compensatory liver cirrhosis and to determine whether treatment with levothyroxine and prednisone is superior in a multicenter, open-label, observational study in China. In total, 125 consecutive hepatitis B-related compensated liver cirrhosis patients with severe thrombocytopenia accompanied by hypothyroidism were included. The patients were divided into four groups according to treatment strategy: a control group (n=29), a prednisone group (n=25), a levothyroxine group (n=32) and a prednisone plus levothyroxine group (n=39).

Background: In paragonimiasis, the lungs and pleural cavity are the major target organs, and the central nervous system can also be affected. The liver is an organ in which ectopic paragonimiasis rarely occurs. Because the symptoms and examinations in hepatic paragonimiasis (HP) are not typical, the disease is often misdiagnosed in the clinic.

Background And Purpose: The spot sign is a highly specific and sensitive predictor of hematoma expansion in following primary intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Rare cases of the spot sign have been documented in patients with intracranial hemorrhage secondary to arteriovenous malformation (AVM). The purpose of this retrospective study is to assess the accuracy of spot sign in predicting clinical outcomes in patients with ruptured AVM.

Objective: To determine whether therapeutic hypothermia after hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) in neonates increases the risk of cardiac arrhythmia during intervention.
Design: A meta-analysis was conducted using a fixed-effect model. Risk ratios, risk differences, and 95% confidence intervals, were measured.
