Background: Cystic lymphangioma is a rare hamartoma that is especially found in the adult gastrointestinal tract. In the early stage, most patients are asymptomatic; after the onset of symptoms, there is often no specificity regarding symptoms.

Case Summary: Here we report the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of an adult patient with cystic lymphangioma of the ascending colon.

Primary duodenal T/histiocyte-rich large B-cell lymphoma complicated with obstructive jaundice: A case report and review of literature.

Background: T/histiocyte-rich large B-cell lymphoma (T/HRBCL) is a highly aggressive subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma characterized histologically by the presence of a few neoplastic large B cells amidst an abundant background of reactive T lymphocytes and/or histiocytes. T/HRBCL commonly affects the lymph nodes, followed by extranodal sites, such as the spleen, liver, and bone marrow, with rare occurrences in the gastrointestinal tract. Primary gastrointestinal T/HRBCL lacks specific clinical and endoscopic manifestations, and it is difficult to differentiate from inflammatory diseases, nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma, and other diseases on a histological basis, thereby hindering early diagnosis.

Selective embolization can effectively alleviate bleeding symptoms in patients with anorectal hemangioma.

In this manuscript, I comment on the article by Pospisilova published in the recent issue of the journal, in which selective embolization was used to treat anorectal hemangioma, a rare disease causing lower gastrointestinal bleeding. Anorectal hemangioma can easily be mistaken; for example, the patient in this case was previously misdiagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Choosing the appropriate tests and understanding the typical manifestations of anorectal hemangioma under colonoscopy, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and other tests are beneficial for diagnosis.

A biomarker framework for liver aging: the Aging Biomarker Consortium consensus statement.

In human aging, liver aging per se not only increases susceptibility to liver diseases but also increases vulnerability of other organs given its central role in regulating metabolism. Total liver function tends to be well maintained in the healthy elderly, so liver aging is generally difficult to identify early. In response to this critical challenge, the Aging Biomarker Consortium of China has formulated an expert consensus on biomarkers of liver aging by synthesizing the latest scientific literature, comprising insights from both scientists and clinicians.

Background: The effects of resveratrol supplementation on inflammation and oxidative stress in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were controversial. A meta-analysis was performed to assess the changes in levels of inflammation and oxidative stress in patients with T2DM.

Methods: Relevant literatures before November 6, 2024 were screened through Web of Science,Embase,the Cochrane Library and other sources (ClinicalTrials, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses).

Exploring age and gender disparities in cardiometabolic phenotypes and lipidomic signatures among Chinese adults: a nationwide cohort study.

Understanding sex disparities in modifiable risk factors across the lifespan is essential for crafting individualized intervention strategies. We aim to investigate age-related sex disparity in cardiometabolic phenotypes in a large nationwide Chinese cohort. A total of 254,670 adults aged 40 years or older were selected from a population-based cohort in China.

Coexistence of Asymptomatic Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis and Active Pulmonary Tuberculosis: Case Report.

We present a rare case of asymptomatic allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) concurrent with active pulmonary tuberculosis. Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis is an immunological pulmonary disorder characterized by hypersensitivity to Aspergillus fumigatus, while pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) is a complex infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). The association between pulmonary tuberculosis infections and Aspergillus infections remains a fascinating area of inquiry.

Resveratrol-driven macrophage polarization: unveiling mechanisms and therapeutic potential.

Resveratrol, a polyphenolic compound known for its diverse biological activities, has demonstrated multiple pharmacological effects, including anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, and cardiovascular protective properties. Recent studies suggest that these effects are partly mediated through the regulation of macrophage polarization, wherein macrophages differentiate into pro-inflammatory M1 or anti-inflammatory M2 phenotypes. Our review highlights how resveratrol modulates macrophage polarization through various signaling pathways to achieve therapeutic effects.

Background: The oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of Tibetan adolescents has been largely overlooked.

Aim: This cross-sectional study examined the association of region-specific lifestyle, subjective perception, and clinician conditions of oral health with Tibetan adolescents' OHRQoL in Ganzi, Sichuan.

Methods: The OHRQoL was measured using standardized Child Oral Impacts on Daily Performances (sC-OIDP) scores.

Background: Patent foramen ovale (PFO) is a congenital defect between the atria, resulting in abnormal hemodynamics. We conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to identify common genetic variants associated with PFO.

Methods: We performed a whole genome sequencing in a discovery cohort of 3,227 unrelated Chinese participants screened for PFO via contrast transthoracic echocardiography (cTTE).

Objective: Presentation delay of cancer patients prevents the patient from timely diagnosis and treatment leading to poor prognosis. Predicting the risk of presentation delay is crucial to improve the treatment outcomes. Objective: Enhancing clinical skills and quality of dental residents is critical for standardized training. Conventional standardized training falls short in exposing residents to diverse scenarios and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, essential for dental trauma management. To address these issues, West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University introduced an interdisciplinary problem-based learning (IPBL) model to improve residents' professional quality and practical abilities.

Hybrid nano-sized motors with navigation and self-actuation capabilities have emerged as promising nanocarriers for a wide range of delivery, sensing, and diagnostic applications due to their unique ability to achieve controllable locomotion within a complex biological environment such as tissue. The intricate morphology, physicochemical properties, and interacting proteins of lipid droplets (LDs) are associated with cell metabolism and related diseases. To uncover these layers of information, a solvatochromic and photosensitized LDs-targeted probe based on the furan-based D-D-π-A scaffold is developed to offer the following integrated functions. First, the turn-on fluorescence of the probe upon selectively binding to LDs allows for direct visualization of their location and morphology.

Background: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare, aggressive malignancy with high recurrence rates and poor prognosis. Current prognostic models are inadequate, highlighting the need for innovative diagnostic tools. Pathomics, which utilizes computer algorithms to analyze whole-slide images, offers a promising approach to enhance prognostic models for ACC.

In Situ Analysis of Plant Tissue Using Arc iKnife Ionization Mass Spectrometry.

This study developed a portable arc iKnife ionization mass spectrometry (AII-MS) technique integrating a surgical knife with low-temperature arc plasma to interact with plant tissues. The thermal energy from the arc plasma induces the sputtering of water-containing plant tissues, leading to the formation of aerosols. These aerosols are then charged by plasma-generated ions, producing charged microdroplets that are ultimately detected by a mass spectrometer.
